Andersonville Brewing Co

Been there three times and really tried to like it as I live in the neighborhood and need «my spot», which this will not be. The beer is well below average for today’s beer standards, but that’s o.k. The first time I had a burger (which comes from Hamburger Mary’s next door — they’re co-​owned) it was just average. The second time it was significantly below average. The burger patty was closer to a round ball than a flat patty, and the fries were an insanely greasy clump of room-​temperature grossness. Seriously, for $ 13, this might be one of the worst burger’s I’ve ever had. Sadly, the service is worse than the food. One bartender I talked with was great, but the waitress I saw there every time I went in has a downright bad attitude. That’s insane for someone with her job. She was straight-​up rude to me, and even the guy next to me at the bar joked about how surly she was. My second time there my arms were sticking to the table from spilled beer that was never cleaned, and this same waitress acted like I was a nuisance to her. She literally never smiled, and never acknowledged in any way that I said «thank you» to her when she brought me my food (and then disappeared for the rest of the night). I really tried to like this spot, evidenced be my willingness to try it a third time, but this is clearly a place thriving on a great location and lack of competition.

Another stop at another brewery. I really like the way the place is set up. It looks like a sports divey bar which I love. They got plenty of big tvs and got the nba, cubs, and whitesox covered. Now to the beer. Ordered a flight which was supposed to have 5 of their house beers. Our server told me ⁴⁄₅ of the beers were unavailable. Thats crazy. How are you a brewery and dont have ⁴⁄₅ of your own brews. It must have been a misunderstanding. And its unfortunate because the bombshell ale I did have was pretty good. The food looked good. So I think I might have to comeback and give this spot another shot.

I love this place. The service has been consistently great. A group of friends and I stopped in here on a scavenger hunt where we had to do various tasks and the bar was very accomodating. We came back a year later for my birthday and the bartender who is straight was incredible. I have seen negative reviews about him for being rude or homophobic and that couldn’t be farther from the truth. He was very friendly despite some innocent flirting by me. He played along and never made me feel uncomfortable. Overall I recommend this bar. It’s a very laid back atmosphere with good drinks and a friendly staff.

was there thursday night and i have to say im a fan. the beer was great, i had the 4 beer flight and i liked all of their beers. the atmosphere was chill. MY kind of place! the bartender (James I think was his name) was very nice and attentive, the waitresses were also very friendly, which is what i like in a brewery. cant wait to be back and try some more of the beers they have.

Stopped in to try a few of their beers. The Frank Lloyd Rye was fine, but the Rye of Tiger was foul. I’ve never been served a craft beer before that was undrinkable, but this was undrinkable. They really need to work on quality control for their beer. The bartender was really nice though.

Visited this place on Halloween. First thing to note, service was just awful. We were there for about an hour and our server only came to us twice, and didn’t even check in with us when running to other tables. It wasn’t too busy either. For the first time in my life I encouraged my group to leave some cash on the table to bail since the server wasn’t interested in bringing our check.
The first thing we were told was they were out of ginger beer and this was after a friend tried to order one of the drinks with ginger beer in it and no suggestion was made as a replacement. The server made us feel unwelcome the entire visit, not even giving us a «I’ll be right back» or even spot checking to make sure we still had drinks left.
On top of the poor service, the beer was just awful and made me sick. It was completely flat and had absolutely no flavor values except gross.
And as a PS I was once a server at a sports bar so I’m familiar with the industry and bad days, but with how poor the beer was I will not be back unless I am checking out Hamburger Mary’s.

I was excited to see this is affiliated with Hamburger Mary’s. I came with a few people to get drinks and watch a football game. Our server was very personable and attentive. We ordered the Mary Tyler S’Mores and were really surprised when a tray with a mini fire and all the fixin’s came out and we could roast our own marshmallows! Very cool experience.

This is more of a warning on the poutine… IT WAS DISGUSTING… never had it and sounds like you cant go wrong with fries, melted cheese curds and gravy BUT after eating some i had to vomit… the gravy tasted like it came from a can. over salty and metal taste to it… and the cheese curds all melted was just like eating a giant congealed blob of cheese that didn’t break very easy… would have been better off just ordering fries and cheese curds separately
Other than that i love Hamburger Mary’s and the rec room… just no poutine for me anymore

Mary’s food without the hassle. Wound up on the trivia night, which was fun. Probably good beers, but I’m not a beer drinker, so don’t trust me on those reviews. Food is wonderful bar food with some nice twists. Otherwise have a great time.

I changed my mind. This place is actually pretty fun. I’ve been back a couple times and their apps are generally good. They have nice drink specials and a good atmosphere. It’s a fun place to watch a game. The Ginger Rogers is a great cocktail. The Mac and cheese bites are tops. Give this place a try!

Stopped by Saturday afternoon for some beer flights. Casual, dimly lit, neighborhood bar. Our server seemed distracted and beer was just okay. Was in good company so that helped! Perhaps an off day at the establishment. There are lots of TVs with various sports games on.

They have some good in house beers my favorite of which is the marry hoppins, pale ale. They do seasonal brews and some rotations but they stick to four beers total that they brew themselves. They also have in house cocktails and the standard bar variety of everything else. They do serve food here and I havent tried their whole menu but their loaded ta-​tas are amazing. It’s basically nachos made with tater tots instead of tortilla chips.

Yesterday was our second visit to Andersonville Brewing. It will be our last. Totally not impressed. When you walk in the door, you are immediately met with a very stale, dirty bar smell. Ick.
No beer flights available yesterday. They were out of one of the beers and when we asked if they could substitute a beer, we were told no and that «they» (whoever that is) don’t like to substitute. Okay. Nothing like being at a place that brews their own beer and you can’t sample.
My boyfriend ordered the Hippity Hoppity IPA. He loves IPAs and said it was the worst IPA he had ever had. He thought there was a mistake because the IPA was super smoky tasting. I tried it. Definitely did not have the hoppy IPA characteristics. I ordered the spicy bloody mary. That was supposed to be a house speciality. Worst bloody mary I have ever had. Totally bland.
I thought our server was very nice and I felt bad that he was put in a position of having to tell the customers «no.» He was the only saving grace about our visit. The rest – eh…won’t be back.

Good place, nice, clean, friendly service, beer not the best, but good!, the most recomendable their blonde lager or some like that, fair prices, tolerable noise. Good place to watch sports lot of TVs. And the food It’s good! The burguers awesome!

I went in with a friend to watch the Sunday Superbowl, the place was packed and cozy. Butt to butt here. With such a small space, it felt like I walked into a tiny coffee shop, not a bar. Also full of people who’ve never seen a minority before I’m guessing? lol. Everybody literally stared wide-​eyed at me and my friend. That’s how small the place is, and how weird the people there were. With no seats left and the weird vibe, we left immediately.

I found their beer just barely tolerable. I hate to say it, but I was not a fan.
The few redeeming aspects of my evening out where the following:
the bartender, she was attentive but not overly attentive
the location, it is centrally located between myself and my friend i went there with
the vodka martini

I’m awarding this place 3 stars because of 3 reasons: great staff, yummy fries and $ 3 mimosas. Other than that, nothing special. I was extremely disappointed with their chicken & waffles.

Sadly, I have to update my previously glowing review downward. It’s just not what it was.
The former Rec Room has been on a downward slide since changing to the new name. The portion sizes of the food kept shrinking, and beers kept being out or unavailable. The last straw for me was when I had a rancid glass of Gangster Ale. I’ve enjoyed this beer many, many times, and I know what it should taste like. The server said the brewer was trying to increase the size of their batches and was having trouble getting things right. I understand not wanting to dump a batch of beer, but serving bad booze is just inexcusable.
If I hear they turn things around I’d try it again, but as it is I’ll go elsewhere to watch games and eat some food.

I don’t head to Andersonville often, but when I do I’m always surprised by how much I LIKE it here.
Loving Andersonville Brewing. Swift service. Pricing isn’t offensive. The apps are good. I’m down.

This review would reflect my third time in a «Mary’s» facility, and as they say, Third Time is a Charm! My boyfriend and I went there on a Saturday night at midnight. Kitchen closes at 1 am so that really worked for our situation last night. The interior was nicely decorated sports bar– We loves their bottle cap table tops!
We ordered a quesadilla and mini burgers! Quesadillas are such a simple appetizer but Mary’s does it so right! Also their brownie sundaes are super delicious! Our waitress Lori recommended putting caramel and graham crackers in it, do it! Or customize it your own way!
Service was phenomenal thanks to our waitress LORI. She was absolutely a delight: helpful, fun, and nice! It is refreshing to interact with someone who loves their job! You can tell through her service and attentiveness! Next time you are at «Mary’s» ask for LORI! You wont regret it! Loved her!
