Where do I begin to start with my nightmare?!! Words of wisdom to anyone considering going this IDIOT, look for ANOTHERDOCTOR! Not sure sure if this guys credentials are legit! I will begin with my accident. I broke my wrist snowboarding in Utah and went to the ER to have it reset, and was advised to see a Orthopedic Surgeon a week after I returned home to Chicago. Although, if the Utah ER «Doctors» we’re smart enough, they would have done the surgery immediately after being rushed in there! Anyhow, after being back home in Chicago I proscrastinated on making my apt, mostly because I was in pain and using downers to keep me asleep and lathargic. My mom(who lives in AZ) called me and yelled at me to get into a Orthopetic surgeon THATDAY! I called around and couldn’t get into anywhere, but UNLUCKILY I got into an appointment with this Anderson Dr within 45 minutes of my call. Went to his office off Lakeshore and got called back within 10 minutes of being there. He was rude and cocky right off the bat. Which most GOOD surgeons have the right to be. So, I gave him my original x rays from Utah and he said I had a «clean break» and he was going to cast it. I asked if I could pick the color and he said«No, you’re getting white» and just started wrapping away. He told me to come back in five days or so, but by then I would be in AZ. Since he said it was a clean break and that I DIDNOTNEEDSURGERY, I waited over 10 days to contact an Orthopedic Surgeon in AZ. Finally made an appointment and had to wait over 4 days to get into my AZ appointment versus my 45 minute appointment getting into his office. The Doctors assistant were appalled by the way that Anderson casted me, which I forgot to leave out how tight he wrapped it and how sharp the edges were at top and bottom, I had cuts on my upper arm because he did such a lousy job! Cotton balls helped… A little. So the new Orthos team cut off that cast and put me in a splint and advised I needed surgery immediately. Today is Thursday the 28th of January, I saw Dr. Anderson on the 6th of January. That HORRIBLE, so called Doctor set me back an additional 3 weeks. This whole process has been a nightmare! But the surgery is done, and I can finally say the pain is diminishing:) I wouldn’t consider this Doctor or recommend it anyone. Do yourself a favor and look for someone with better experience, because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about! I am adding additional information to my upper paragraph because this Doctor is THAT awful. Unfortunately I was forced to only two doctors due to lawsuit, I was misdiagnosed by Anderson, my Phoenix Surgeon(Dr. Frankel) was amazing and smart! I live in Chicago but on my family vacation I was advised I should have had surgery immediately! So I had to follow up with Anderson and as he was looking at my X rays and saying I looked good! I asked how my plate looked? He said«what plate?» I advised him I had surgery again and he pulled up a different screen. Really Doc?! He was very sweet so I didn’t yell at him for basically screwing up 3 months of my life! Anyhow, he told me to come back for a x Ray in 2 weeks and I asked if we could wait a month. Today was my appointment at 10 am, I didn’t receive a call yesterday, but I knew they were not very profession so I went anyway. I was when I arrived that they were sorry but their system went down and they lost several appointments. I was told the Dr had to rush out to an important meeting, yet a woman behind me came in with a 10 am appointment as well, and she was seated! I asked for my notes and x Rays bc I never want to see this man again. I was reimbursed for my cab thank goodness. But I urgently advise NOT to see this mans practice.

I found Dr. Anderson on ZocDoc, and went to him for a pain in my him and knee I’d be having for a while. The first appointment didn’t get off to a great start. He was on a personal phone call when the assistant brought me into the exam room. After waiting a while for him to get off his phone call, he came in and said, «I’m on hold with the Customs Department right now… OK, so what’s the problem?» Later, after I had gotten an X-ray taken, both the finished X-rays and I sat in the exam room and waited for him to finish another personal phone call right outside the room for around 10 minutes. I mean, the guy is at work. His work involves seeing his patients – that should have been his first priority. After he looked at the X-ray, he says they usually don’t show stress fractures anyway(uh, then why did we do it? Those cost money…) and ordered an MRI. He said they’re expensive but they insurance companies hate him anyway. Maybe he needs a reminder about how insurance works in 2015: Health insurance doesn’t pay for everything… In my case, I have a very, very high deductible, so guess who’s footing the majority of the bill? Me. I got the MRI the following week at Northwestern Memorial, and was told that since he works in the same system, he should be able to access the results almost immediately. Well, I received the results on MyChart a few days later, and called his office to talk to him about them. Turns out, they hadn’t received(or checked?) the results yet. I told the receptionist I had received the results, and she asked me to email them to her. I did, because I wanted to speed up the process, but I wonder if sending personal health information via email is even HIPAA compliant(I’m guessing not). It was unprofessional, and maybe not even legal. He left me a message the next day saying he recommended seeing another doctor for arthroscopic surgery. My symptoms weren’t *that* bad, and from what I’d read, it seemed like physical therapy might help(or would at least be worth a try before deciding to do surgery, which will cost me thousands of dollars out of pocket). I called him back with a few questions and the conversation went something like this: Me: Can you tell the severity of the tear from the MRI, so we know whether surgery is necessary? Him: No. Me: OK… So you’ll mail me the MRI images and I’ll– Him: Yes. I’m mailing them now. I promise. I promise. Me. OK. So when I get the MRI images I’ll– Him: I promise! Me: OK. So once I get the results I’ll make an appointment with this other doctor and he’ll– Him: Yeah. Yeah. He’s a great guy, you’ll really like him. I know him… He interrupts like crazy and acts as if you’re hysterical and he’s trying to calm you down(I was totally calm the whole time). Anyway, this guy seems really old-school. Doesn’t want to work with you to find the best treatment, he seems to want to order the most expensive procedures right off the bat. Seems like a good example of medical overuse and bad bedside manner. I really wish I had seen someone else.

The visits themselves were fine. I was told that I have chondromalacia and there’s nothing they can do for it except PT. Fine. So I did the PT regiment and still did not feel better once my prescription was completed, so I requested an MRI. When my MRI results came back and I was told I should do MOREPT I chose to decline the additional PT sessions as they were costing me $ 40 per visit and I could no longer afford the treatment considering I wasn’t getting any results. At this time I was notified that I had a credit on my account(This was in June 2013). At that time I began my battle to get the credit returned to me. Every time I called in 2013 I was told that they only cut checks once a year and that I’d need to wait until the end of the year. It’s now January 2014 and I still don’t have the check for my overpayment. Does this mean I’m going to have to wait until January 2015 to send my money?!
