American Red Cross

Let me start by saying… previous experiences, and likely future will be much better. Also happy to add another review at that point.
This happened today…
So this happened today. (I have pictures, reported the license plate
American Red Cross of Greater Chicagoland vehicle was parked blocking my driveway to my shared garage of my building) This is note I sent to them via Facebook as well.
I arrived home at 11:30am 5÷18÷15 and was unable to get into my garage. I waited about 15 minutes, then called American Red Cross-​Chicago twice. First time I was put in contact with someone that said they would contact the driver. The second was a follow up as it was now 12pm, and car still there. Blocking the entrance for the garage. Plenty of street parking available, and meters not far away on Milwaukee. Not the point for my own car, but for this one. I pay good tax money to live in this building and own a space as well. There is construction going on and it dos not appeal to me to park outside when I own a space. ALso not the main point. This is a safety hazard for true emergencies. People unable to get out etc too.
I then called 31, (was on hold; decided to wait a few more minutes) as I informed your call center I would do. I went inside did what I needed to do, and then came back and the car still hadn’t moved. got in touch with 311, and they dispatched a police officer. I called the center back again, and let them know that the police were called. They claimed they were unable to get in touch as he was teaching a class. Also not my problem. His class is not more important than others in possible need. Or in general…
Fortunately for him he came before the police. I let him know how selfish it is especially when representing a «brand» such as the American Red Cross. If most people were to disrespect others and their employment like this, then they would no longer have employment. This is definitely not someone I would want working for me. He said he parked there because there were no spots. Look for them, they are there. This is residential. Go park on Milwaukee at a meter a block away. Or Western. I don’t care. You do not block a driveway. Chris, you really need to work on your ethics and professionalism.

As always, they are on top of everything. In times of crisis, they will be the first ones at a scene. After the tornado hit in Illinois, I knew theuy be the first showing up, after all Ive worked with them for 13plus yrs as a volunteer.
I can tell you these people that volunteer genuinely care. We dont get paid as some people think. If you ever need ANY HELP, please see the american red cross, they will help or find you a solution by giving you referrals.
There are many different ARC so please just google the nearest one if your ever in need, if a neighbor’s home is on fire, anything. Literally, angels that walk among us.
ALTHOUGH you may get frustrated becuz of what your going through, please realize ARC is there to ease your life a bit. Dont be rude. Think before you speak, when your feeling overwhelmed. After all, the volunteers are there to help, but have nothing to do with goverment agencies, FEMA, or insurance agencies. BE NICE!!!

Absolutely top notch service!
I attended a blood donation organized by the White Sox Volunteer Corps and serviced by the Chicago Red Cross. The Red Cross did an excellent job of pre-​donation setup so that everyone could move quickly through the check-​in process. The staff and volunteers of the Red Cross were very friendly and the phlebotomists were really gentile and careful during the donation process.
After my donation experience with them at U.S. Cellular field, I will definitely go back to their donation centers and continue blood donation with their organization.
