Allstate Insurance: Greg Sheppard

Greg and his staff saved me 500 dollars a year with similar coverage and my car and renters! He even gave me a 20 dollar gift card for referring my friend. Highly recommended

I switched to Mr. Sheppard’s Agency earlier this year. Customer Service is impeccable. They are prompt and work with me to get me information I need in a timely manner. I never feel like I have to worry. I actually already had a claim due to the ever-​present stolen bike issue in Chicago. They helped me through the entire process and it could not have been easier. I am VERY happy and glad I made the switch to this agency.

I just set up a new homeowners policy for the condo I just purchased, and also moved my cars over to Allstate. The rates were the lowest I found. The people at this Allstate office were great in getting my policies set up, and followed up on several things without me needed to call them. It was great service from start to finish. I am very happy with this agency. I would recommend.

I’ve used this location since 1984. The guy there was a great agent named Dion.
Since then it’s gone past through at least two owners
(Allstate agents buy each others «book» when they retire)
I stayed with them out of past experiences and inertia.
But my last year with them has been a nightmare.
When buying a home I needed insurance to get a mortgage. I told them about three weeks ahead of time. Two days before closing the mortgage agent called me in a panic because they were not getting her the info she needed and the mortgage would not be ready.
I called the person there and talked to them about it. The answer I received was «I’d have it finished, but people keep calling me about it»
Wow! I couldn’t believe it. Three weeks advance notice and I call to ask about it ONCE and I get attitude.
The mortgage broker told me that she has Never said this, but I should change brokers. Something was funny about this.

A few months later I get a call on my answering machine saying my car insurance has been canceled. That’s it. It’s been canceled.
I called up and asked why and they told me that my premium had gone up on my car.
What?! They didnt call to tell me that it went up. They also didnt call to tell me I needed to pay more. They just freakin’ canceled me.
I was busy. I paid the extra and they reinstated my insurance. Inertia…
Later I contacted Allstate to complain and left a complaint that they said would go to the agent.
No call from the agent. Inertia…
A month ago I called my agent just before 5:00 on a Friday.
This is what I got; «Thank you for calling xxxx phone system. Goodbye» *click*
Holy crap. Is he still even in business?
If I call about my policy and get this treatment, what is going to happen when I get in an accident?
So I went to another agent. I told the agent I wanted to stay with allstate but if I couldnt change agents I’d go with another company.
15 minutes later I had the same coverage at $ 700 LESS a year!
I was getting OVERCHARGED $ 700 a year by Greg Sheppard.
We also found out that my house insurance was higher than what I had asked for.
again, I was getting charged too much!
I dont know if this location is even in business.
But I would never, ever, ever use them as an agent again
Edit 1 year later: I just noticed that most of his 5 star reviews are from people who have posted only 1 review on Unilocal.I am highly suspicious of people who rave about a company but have never posted any other reiviews
