Alex (and his colleague, Lucas) did a great job for us. WIth an impending deadline, we needed to get a small section of a hardwood floor refinished. Alex made a bit of a trip late on a Friday afternoon and returned the following morning at the time he promised. His services were reasonably priced, and he did a fine job. Even though we needed the work done on a rush basis, we never felt as if he was taking advantage of us. He was very professional, gave us options, and he was easy to work with. It’s a pleasure to write a review like this, and we recommend him highly.

Best experience yet working with a trade for a home improvement. Great communication and even better quality of work. I will be using Alexandru for all my floor refinishing projects.
It was a multi phase payment process– small deposit– 50 percent at start and balance upon completion. I was fine with that process.
The work went exactly as outlined and we enjoyed being able to use the kitchen on the day the floors were sanded down– just couldn’t use it for the following day when the finish set up.

When Alexandru quoted by far the best price for a sand and refinish, we hired them and hoped for the best.

Alexandru Flooring was fantastic and I highly recommend them! I just moved to a new condo and the floors were old looking and had all kinds of spots. I initially thought I’d have to completely refinish the floors, but when Alex came out to see them (which he did the same day, at 8pm at my request), he mentioned that all I needed was a buff and a fresh coat. Pricing was extremely reasonable and he came out the next day to do the work. The finished product was amazing and the floors literally look brand new. I highly recommend Alex!

We had our wood floors refinished and stained by Alexandru Hardwood flooring. Alex came out very quickly and gave us an estimate. Pricing was pretty affordable for the job that needed to be done. We had our living room, dining room, hallway and three bedrooms all refinished and stained for about 3k. Which is the lowest price I found around the city. Alex was great, very positive and scheduled us right away, which we needed. The entire project took about a week total.
We had only a few slight issues: we have radiators with wood covers. The team that worked in our house I noticed put one of their heavy tools on top of the cover and scraped up our radiator cover pretty bad. We’ll have to spend the time to sand it down and refinish it.
The other issue we had is that in some of the rooms the trim is white. They left the wood stain all over our trim near the floors. I tried to clean it off but couldn’t. Had to spend more money to paint over it. Not happy that we had to put more work and money into cleaning up the after mess.
Overall the floors looked good.

They did a great job on our old hardwood floors. I liked that they are available over the phone and take calls. I called three other companies which only had voicemail or nothing running. The overall process was professionally explained in detail. We are really happy with our floors and the work they did. I had to take away a star since there was a minor flaw which had been taken care of afterwards w/​o hesitation. I recommend Alexandru hardwood flooring!

I had floor done by Alexandru (buffing, waxing, and one coat I believe). Even I had a very tight time window for the job to get done, he was willing to help and to work around his schedule. They did great job and the floor looks very beautiful. I definitely had a good experience with this company and will ask them in future, if I need some floor work.

I called them for a quote on floor refinishing — he doesn’t move furniture. He also told me that no one moves furniture, which is inaccurate, as I subsequently obtained two quotes for refinishing by companies that move furniture. They are not cheap, but they will do it. If you are a condo owner with any more than a minimalist taste in furniture, I would keep looking.

My experience with this company was overwhelmingly positive. Alex came out right away to assess my floors and give me an estimate. I had installed new flooring in over half the house, and I wanted a professional to sand and finish them. While he was there, he looked at the bedrooms, which were in terrible shape and which I had planned to cover with carpet. They had pet stains, glue, underlayment, etc. he convinced me to try to save them and gave me a reasonable price. He sanded a spot in each room to let us look at how they would turn out so we could make a final decision. He also showed us a few stains to hide the pet stains in the worst bedroom.
Saving the bedroom floors turned out to be a great decision and it cost less than carpet.
The crew was able to squeeze me into their schedule, and even started a day earlier than they initially thought. They did the job quickly, they guys were courteous, and the floors look awesome. I’ll recommend Alexandru to anyone who needs flooring work done.

We just purchased an old house and decided to rip out carpeting and refinish the original oak floors. His prices were very competitive and he was professional, punctual, and courteous. You can tell that he takes what he does seriously and I feel as though this is an art for him. We did have a few repairs to make and he warned us ahead of time that our estimate, may go up (since we didn’t know what was under the carpet). He also took the time to hand sand our stairs since they had a bit of white paint (which does not work with his electric sander).
Overall, we are very pleased and we highly recommend Alex!

I own a 90 year old two flat and recently pulled up the carpet on the front stairs. What was underneath were stairs in a state of disrepair and a previous owner covered it up. I called and Alex came out within an hour. He gave me an estimate and began the work two days later. He was very thorough, taking time to call me daily and explain the process. After three days, the stairs were restored to their original beauty. I would highly recommend this company.

Alex was very honest about time-​lines and cost. He was able to schedule us promptly and his team worked super well with all of the other servicemen that were contracted to renovate our new home. Most of our floor was good for a resand and topcoat, however some areas in our 1925 house needed boards replaced due to water damage and pet stains. The areas replaced flow seamlessly and our wood floors look and operate like new!
Other qutations we received seemed to favor the unexpected. We were looking for a solid, predictable offer/​service and that is exactly what we got with Alex! Do yourself a favor by reading between the lines of low-​ball offers. You’ll thank me later!

Due to construction schedule and building regulations I had to get the right contractor. They delivered a high quality product and finished the project in the initial budget with no change orders. I called Alexandru looking to get a quotation for refinishing worn hardwood flooring. I am very disappointed to say that he would not come out to provide an appropriate estimate for the work that needed to be done. I would expect that a reputable company would be happy to make the time investment to come out and give me a firm quote. Very disappointing.

We had a big hole in one of our hardwood floor boards. Alex and his team did a great job and were able to come relatively last minute. They brought all equipment and materials. Replacement board didn’t match perfectly but it was close enough and he told us from the beginning it wouldn’t be a perfect match. Overall we were very satisfied!

I am very pleased with the work that Alexandru did in my condo! One of my closets only had a subfloor (the hardwood stopped at the door and went down to the plywood based that is underneath the rest of the floors) and Alexandru was able to match the existing floors and install a beautiful floor in the closet. (It’s a shame it’s a closet.)
Marius turned the job around very quickly (called him Dec. 31, he stopped by the same day, and installed that Thursday) while I was staying out of town. He was very communicative and kept me in the loop every step of the way. He also installed baseboard in the closet to match the rest of the condo (and also in a few spots that had been missing baseboard).
Very happy with the work! He used quality materials, was careful in the space, and used the dustless process, so the place stayed clean.

I hired Alexandru Hardwood Flooring to fix up the poor job another company did on my hardwood floors. I recently purchased a house and made the mistake of letting a contractor get me cheap flooring services. Whatever they used for the varnish was terrible. It scratched so easily. I looked on Unilocal and called Alexandru about applying another coat of varnish.
Marius came by that very night to look at my floors and give me a quote. The price was very reasonable. He showed up promptly on time the day of the work and did an excellent job. My floors look wonderful and don’t scratch nearly as easily. When I have the other two rooms redone, I will absolutely hire Alexandru again.

Alex is wonderful to work with! Our new floors look AMAZING!!! From the very beginning, he was very personable, professional and his prices were the most reasonable. On site, he and his partner are incredibly meticulous. They spend a lot of time prepping the area to make sure the end results are the best they can be. I really appreciated Alex explaining why certain things needed to be done so that I understood the process and why I would be charged for certain things. In addition, they are incredibly neat, punctual and he even finished ahead of schedule.
Alex recommended some fixes throughout (thresholds, etc), not to raise the price, but to really improve the condition of our second floor. The end result is incredible. Our floors went from dull scratched up hardwoods that were under old carpeting to gleaming, beautiful floors that look brand new. The stain is perfectly applied and looks beautiful.
There is no doubt that if we ever need any work done on our floors in the future that we would go back to Alex. If you want to see your floors undergo a complete transformation at a reasonable price — you’ll want to too.
