A Little Bit of This

Yes, unfortunately the owner reported on her website in March that she needed a heart transplant and would, understandably, not be able to keep the shop going. She did beautiful work and will be missed by so many! I send her all my prayers for healing so that she may one day return to her dream!

When my son was born we received a monogrammed blanket from A Little Bit of This. Its such a special gift and something he loves and cherishes. Since we received it, I too have purchased many baby and children’s gifts from A Little Bit of This. My favorite gift to give to new babies and toddlers is the stuffed animal Angel Dear nap pillow with their name embroidered on it. I’ve also bought many housewarming, Nora Fleming charms and birthday gifts for the friends and family in my life. The staff at A Little Bit of This has always been friendly, helpful and on time with their monogrammed items. I felt good shopping local and purchasing and giving unique gifts to the people in my life. I would so much rather purchase items from here than spend a dime at Toys R Us.

This place was great until they suddenly had a for rent sign in the window. The hours are now never dependable, and it looks like they lost their staff. Too bad. It was a great source for gifts, but I am sure I can find another place online…:(

I love this shop however I noticed a FOR RENT sign in the window today, Mon 3÷2÷15. Did they close?

Great place. Highly recommended. Options are plentiful. They did a superb job in a relatively quick turn around (3 days for my order). Nice store and friendly staff.

Such a cute store! I ordered a few things off their website to be monogrammed and decided to pick it up instead of having it shipped so that I could check out what they had in stock. The two girls that were working on Saturday March 1^st were so sweet and helpful! They helped me pick out a few more gifts, gave me a discount and shipped everything for free. Nothing these days includes monograms and this place does! You just can’t beat the services and prices. Great location! Will be my go-​to baby gift shop!

As an artist who needs the occasional monogrammed article for use in performances and installations, this is one of the very few places in Chicago that will undertake such work. They are always happy for me to bring in my own items, and always deliver the finished articles on time and at a good price. And they have a lot of versatility regarding fonts and thread colors.

I’ve been going to this wonderful store since Krista was in a little shoe box on Lincoln Ave. She was able to spread out now that it’s relocated on Grace — and I think that they could still use more room! The items are quality (and adorable) but at fair prices.
Any new baby, shower, wedding or house warming gift that I need is purchased here.

I’m convinced there isn’t a better place in Chicago (Illinois, even?) for personalized gifts.
First, the owner (Kristi?) is a hoot. I walk in looking like someone who doesn’t regular any of the stores on the Southport strip and she helped my right away helping me to decide what to get for my boyfriends Auntie. I’ve never met his Auntie but the item the owner helped me pick out was perfect and Auntie (and my boyfriend) loved it. Like, the kind of loved it that someone stops what they were doing to fawn over the gift.
Second, I’m not really a kid’s kind of guy but the stuff in there made me want kids so I didn’t look so ridiculous wearing some of the stuff. What’s so wrong to want a cape as an adult anyway? Since I don’t have kids, I have recommended A Little Bit of This to any of my friends and mild acquaintances with children. Great Selection.
Third, the whole process in general was so smooth. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment I walked in to the moment I watched Auntie open the gift, I was thanking A Little Bit of This for making the experience of meeting my significant other’s most significant family member so much easier than it any right to be.
I will be going back.

Great gifts… for weddings and baby showers. If you need anything monogrammed, this is the place! They are professional, affordable, and timely.

Similar to another reviewer, I used this store to get the groomsmen’s bathrobes embroidered. It was extremely affordable in comparison to another embroidery company I went to that same day to get an estimate. They embroidered all 7 bathrobes beautifully, without error and PROMPTLY! I was thrilled and lucky to have found them. The woman who worked there was very kind and helpful and they had a lot of cute items that you could personalize at their store. Definitely a great place to go for gift buying, especially for showers, weddings, baptisms and bridesmaids gifts.

A cute looking store, but incompetent embroidery service! I brought in a simple pillowcase to have embroidered and they deemed the job too difficult because of the seam of the case and refused to even attempt to personalize it. No effort was made not were alternatives given. Very disappointing service.

As one of the other reviewers wrote, this boutique shop is a hidden gem in the Lakeview area. I was looking to get some personalized teddy bears for Christmas presents. They were open promptly at 10 am Monday morning, and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. One of the ladies was very helpful with the fonts and colors. And everything was very reasonably priced.
Turnaround time was fairly quick (in a week). And everything was all ready and wrapped very beautifully with matching ribbons, which was a pleasant surprise. They also had a good variety of other items which could be personalized. I’ll definitely keep this shop in mind for my next embroidery gifts.

This is the only place of its kind that I know of, so it gets stars for being unique, but I am not very happy that I brought in a $ 50 silk handkerchief to be monogrammed with my bf’s initials and I returned a week later to see they used the wrong font. Honestly writing this down now makes me a little ashamed of my elitism – «Oh, Pierce, they used Garamonde instead of Habbishaf on the Italian silk, what a _​disaster_​” – but that’s a lot of money and I thought this shop could be counted on to get it right. They did refund me the money, so that’s okay I guess. And at least the initials were correct. Bf was happy with it.

This shop is a hidden gem. Cute, personalized gifts and they’ll even embroider things you bring in. Their prices were reasonable (about $ 10 an item for embroidery you bring in) and their service was quick and efficient (I was able to pick up all twelve of my things within a week). A great find.

My friend and I were wandering around after brunch last weekend and came across this place. We headed in just to look around, but of course I ended up buying something because their stuff is just too cute.
Anything that could possibly be monogrammed is sold here. They have some great items for gift giving, and I almost wish more friends of mine would have babies so I could spoil them.
I picked up a cute luggage tag and it occurred to me I can pimp out my suitcase… or really, just mark it so I know which one is mine at baggage claim… So I found the cute luggage tags, decided I had to have one, and inquired about it. They said to monogram takes a few hours, so I was disappointed since it’s not really near my apartment and I had to be heading home. When they heard this they did it right then and there for me — it took maybe ten minutes, and my friend and I continued to browse while they donned a «J» on my cute polka dot luggage tag. That was pretty awesome of them, especially since it was only $ 5 and it’s not like they were making a huge amount of money off of me.
I will definitely keep this place in mind for future personalized gift giving needs…

So monograms and embroidery play a tiny role in my life, but to the ladies who run this little shop… its the world to them. They do a great job.
I stumbled across their old location when I was headed to the doc at Addison and Lincoln. I was in search of a bridal gift. The shop is so whimsical and bows everywhere. I am immediately attracted to bows and migrate towards them when I see them. They had a great selection of anything from photo albums to serving pieces to blankets and more. I’ve had several beautiful leather photo albums monogramed with the bride and grooms initials. I had a silk pillow and the softest blanket on the planet monogramed as well for gifts. I currently have them working on a little baby sweater for a friends baby. They have a ton of baby and little kid stuff.
If you actually purchase their merchandise, which I always do, it can be a little pricey, but what do you expect from a little boutique emroidery shop in Wriglleyville. Lets get real people.
The only set back that I see with this place is the employees sometimes. They are really nice and helpful, but sometimes they can be a little snobby. I don’t know if its the small business blues or perhaps that yappy little dogs that lives in there, but they can be a little grumpy.
Giving someone somthing with a little personal touch I think goes a long way. A Little Bit of This definately helps me do that.

This place should be called «A little bit of attitude…»
I had never heard of the store before, but was referred there from a nearby retailer when I needed to have a blanket embroidered for a baptism. All was fine when I dropped the blanket off and gave the details, but the pickup turned downright ugly.
First, it wasn’t ready when I arrived. The owner blamed the «poor quality of the blanket,» saying it was difficult to work with. (Excuse me! That blanket was anything but cheap!)
Then, she gave me the verbal beat-​down when I asked her for a piece of tissue to put in the bag. «We only package items that were actually purchased here.»
Finally, they had embroidered the completely wrong date on the blanket! I was so upset by the way the woman treated me while I was in the store — compounded by her error — that I sent my husband in to deal with her.
The one positive thing I have to say is that she did replace the blanket (albeit with a cheaper version) and re-​embroidered it in time for me to make the baptism. But it took a lot of doing to get her to that point.
The place has cute stuff, but it’s just not worth the attitude. Other retailers really shouldn’t bother referring customers to this shop, as it’s clearly not appreciated.

This store has great merchandise for baby gifts and the stuff is adorable. However, I wouldn’t rely on their system of shipping the gift to someone. Both my friend and I had the store send baby gifts to our other friends and the gifts either were mailed extremely late or were missing the card (saying who the gift was from).
I agree with the last reviewer, the people working in the store are a little cold or rude and don’t always help people in order of who was there first.
