This place is great if you are buying, good deals. If you are selling, they are quite rude. I don’t know if it is a tactic, but I whenever I sell to them, they act as if they hate your items and can’t sell them, they aren’t popular, etc and then they low ball you. Personally, I don’t care what they offer money-wise but I don’t want to feel bad about the stuff I bring in — as if my kids were playing with and wearing crappy stuff. And when I was shopping in there, I hear them treating other people the same way, so I don’t think it is just me. Honestly, if they were more polite about it, I would give this place 5 stars.

I’m pregnant, due in November, and have been looking for a bassinet to put the baby in our room for the first few months. It’s hard to justify spending a lot of money(or have someone else shell out the bucks as a registry gift) on something that’s good for such a short period of time. My midwife told me about Children’s Orchard and we totally lucked out — they had ONE bassinet! It was clean, in good condition, and 50 bucks less than the one I was going to get from Toys R Us. Aside from clothes, they had other types of things that we’ll probably going back for if we don’t ultimately get them as shower gifts, like swings and bouncers. The stuff was all in decent to great condition with excellent prices. It’s a place where I’m sure the merchandise changes regularly, so it’s worth going back every now and then to see what they have.

Children’s Orchard is great – I’m always surprised how many people don’t know about it. It’s small enough not to be overwhelming but big enough to have a great selection. I’m a long-time customer… Their«playclothes»(the less expensive stuff, which are supposed to be more casual or maybe not in quite as good condition) are extremely reasonably priced, usually still in wonderful condition. Even the regular racks are full of great bargains, some brand new. I’ve never left without several terrific things that my kids have gotten a lot of use out of. I like good quality clothing and have picked up many name-brand things over the years, including Hanna Andersson(score!), all the good quality kids’ clothing stores. Paying full price or even retail-on-sale for kids’ clothing makes no sense. In these economic times(and with our increased consciousness about the need to «reduce/reuse/recycle» to lessen the impact of all our«stuff» on the earth), clothing consignment shops are indispensable, and Children’s Orchard is one of the best! I’m a fan.
