Terrible service. We should have just walked away after no one seated us after waiting for ten minutes. Once we were seated our waiter forgot to give us water and I had to get to flag him down. A man in a suit working there seemed to aimlessly wander around without helping customers. I had the veggie burger. The salad was good but the burger tasted as though it had just been microwaved and sent over. My advice is to skip this place.

Really wonderful lemon chicken soup, frozen yogurt and jucies in a nice little café located insides Bloomingdale’s. The food quality is very good, seasonal specials are always delicious!

The service is slow, unfriendly, and unapologetic. I waited over 30 minutes for an untoasted, no frills, tuna salad sandwich for $ 14. I was ready to walk out before the sandwich even came out, but the hostess sensed I needed something(«the check?» she asked, because I had been waiting so long). But, I was starving and figured I had already waited this long so what’s another few minutes? I should have left. The tuna salad was dumped in a ball between two slices of average bread that fell apart after the first bite. So disappointing. The tables around us were equally frustrated, as I saw many patrons walking up to the front to request their orders or checks. Mind you, the restaurant was not busy – only 4 – 5 small tables with at least 3 – 4 servers plus the hostess working. Avoid this place at all costs.

This is high end department store dining — it brings me back to being a kid in Manhattan and my mother taking me to lunch after shopping. The clientele is exactly what you would imagine shopping at Bloomingdales in Chestnut Hill! I always order a trio of egg, chicken and tuna salad. It’s very good but the price just keeps going up and up. It’s not worth $ 16 even with the small froyo they give you. The kids menu is crazy — $ 10 for three chicken nuggets. The service was slow and pretty unfriendly. I love the décor. It is an experience and you can’t get a salad easily in the Mall so I would suggest trying it! And you can charge your lunch in your Bloomies credit card!!!

I’ve been coming to 40 carats for many years and always have a good experience. The food is healthy and fresh. Mustafa and his staff always do a great job of making me my family feel welcome. Keep up the good work.

Very clean environment and nice little café for a shopping break. The food is fresh and presented very nicely. The only thing is that there aren’t enough waiters to keep the wait time down.

I am a loyal Bloomingdales customer so I was super excited when 40 carrots opened in Chestnut Hill several years ago. Although the mall has several restaurants I felt like it was always missing a quick grab and go café. 40 Carrots filled this void — and in addition their menu provides healthy options and they have delicious fro yo. The Food: I have had several items off the menu(soups, salads, sandwiches) and my all time favorite is their Turkey burger. It comes on a delicious roll(not dry at all like some of the other reviews say) with a slice of feta, tomato and lettuce. It is also served with a side salad and I typically take half of it home. I also love their fro yo, however I wish they had more flavor options(they only have 4 — always chocolate, plain, coffee and one rotating flavor). Also, I once made the mistake of trying their m&m like candy topping — and it was awful — so I advise just getting straight up frozen yogurt, it is delicious by itself. The Atmosphere: They clearly tried to make a bright, open and trendy venue for this café and in some ways they succeeded. However, it is clear that they haven’t kept it up over the years(color is wearing off the booths etc) which is shocking and a bit disappointing for Bloomingdales. The Service: it is okay — nothing great nothing bad. Cost: Prices are fair — not overpriced and always generous portions. If I don’t share I typically end up taking some home. Overall I would give 40 Carrots 4 stars based on the food and price — they would get 5, but considering they cater to Bloomingdales clientelle(upscale, trendy people) the atmosphere and service could be improved. Regardless, I would recommend this café for a casual lunch or frozen yogurt and I will be back.

They have delicious salads and great juices but you do have to watch that they don’t skimp on ingredients. I HATE when a menu clearly states all ingredients and any one of these ingredients are left off the final product. Last time I was there I ordered a juice, one that I have ordered many times before and this time they left out one of the key ingredients. I asked them about it and they very flippantly said they were out of it. I then requested a refund. They looked at me puzzled and then asked me. «you want a refund because we didn’t have parsley for your juice?» I said, «yes!» Another person behind the counter then told me to wait a moment — she then came out with a huge bunch of parsley from the back. This is ridiculous and truly deserves one star but I do really like their salads and juice — when prepared properly.

For the froyo, it’s great, for the soup it’s pretty good, for the sandwiches it is god awful. Dry, crumbly bread and bland all around. Overpriced and super slow service even when no one else is there. The pumpkin froyo, though, amazing. The chocolate is so-so. Wish there was a better option for lunch at this mall.

This place wasn’t bad. I got the veggie burger and my only complaint really is that the bun was over toasted. It practically cut the roof of my mouth! It also had this strange herb on it that kept flaking off all over the place so I had to wipe my mouth and hands after every bite. The veggie burger had a lot of flavor and it came with a small leafy salad with a creamy balsamic dressing. The best part of the meal though was dessert! I ordered the chocolate cake and it was so rich I couldn’t even finish it! Delish!

i come to boston at least once a year and this is the first trip i’ve been to 40 carrots and i LOVE it. the fresh juices and salads and soups are so fresh, altho not cheap eats. but you get way more in my mind in quality of offerings than in any restaurant. the juice with carrot, apple, spinach(& parsley i think?) was frothy, fresh & de-lish! i have been to 40 carrots 3 times in two weeks! i LOVE the carrot soup. im sure my vision is already improving. if you say taste and flavor is less than par here, then you probably eat greasy fatty foods regularly. the mango chicken salad could use a bit of a salty or spicy kick, but the chicken was moist and plump and this salad has goat cheese and sweet pecans(i think) and is a big portion. and for whomever said it’s for ladies who lunch(??!)-not true. my dad loves the quesadillas and has had them twice in the past three visits. i think the salads are about $ 15+/-, but sometimes i want a specialty and thoughtful menu with incredible juice offerings, and don’t mind a higher price. love this place and wish i could eat here everyday!

40 Carrots is a restaurant/takeout offering frozen yogurt, vegetable juices, and light dietetic entrée’s to bored shoppers at the Chestnut hill mall. They have bloomingdale’s level prices. I only get the vegetable juice($ 5.50 for 16oz) because it’s the healthiest thing on the menu and also the cheapest(or close to it). They take fresh vegetables(carrots, beets, celery, cucumbers, apples, spinach) and run them through a juice extractor. You pays your money, and you gets your juice. It would be better if they had some tabasco sauce available to add flavor.

I keep going back to this place for the juice, though I’ve been disappointed twice. In my most recent visit, I ordered the Popeye which includes parsley. I watched them make it, and he did not put in any parsley. I pointed that out. He said they don’t have parsley and that the menu is out of date. What?! I am paying $ 5.50 for a juice at Bloomingdale’s and the menu is wrong? Why didn’t he mention that BEFORE he started to make my drink? I’ve found the people who work here aren’t very friendly or fast. The last time I was here, I had placed an order for a number of salads to go. I gave them over an hour to prep the salads. When I arrived, they were just starting to make them. Their slow and disinterested service is especially annoying since I like their menu.

I typically don’t write poor reviews on Unilocal and it pains me to do this, however, after my last experience at 40 Carrots I have to. 40 Carrots is an upscale restaurant in an upscale store. So, you’d accept top-notch service, right? Wrong! I experience better service at Fast Food restaurants than I did the other day at 40 Carrots! Two of my girlfriends and I decided to meet up for a lunch reunion and picked 40 Carrots to dine at. One girlfriend got there before me and was already seated with a drink. I had come directly from running errands and was so thirsty! I asked my friend to order me a lemonade in advance as I was on my way. I got there… no drink. My girlfriend couldn’t locate the server! So, I sit down and wait it out. 10 minutes later… no sign of the server. The restaurant is very small so you’d think the server would be easy to locate… wrong! I finally grab a different server and ask if he could kindly bring my server over. Server comes over and I finally order my drink. Ok, now I have my drink while we patiently wait for our other friend. Our other friend arrives, however, once again we are waiting and waiting for the server. I even catch a glimpse of the manager who sees us waiting and looking all over for the waiter and turns her back. Finally, AGAIN we ask the other server to grab our waiter for us. He says OK and we wait. A few moments later we are approached by a DIFFERENT server. Huh? Our previous server had disappeared at this point… not that we’re complaining! Our new server takes our order and we wait… and wait… and wait… for our food. Our food took a VERY, VERY long time to come out(3 pm on a weekday afternoon). Finally when it did my friend said her turkey burger was not fresh tasting and sent it back. My other friend and I got caesar salads. My friend thought it was OK. I didn’t think it was bad. At the end we got froyo for desert. It was yummy(typical froyo). It’s the only reason why this review is getting 2 stars! Needless to say I won’t be returning to 40 Carrots!

I have been hear more than nine times– and this is entirely my fault. The service is by far the WORST I have ever experienced in Boston. This was the last time– the waitress LOST my Bloomingdales credit card and I am hiring a lawyer. Also, most of the food is pre-prepared and the turkey burgers are prefrozen, not fresh.

Seriously not impressed with the yogurt at this place. This is a review of the $ 8 small yogurt I had here because that is what I had. I did not have any of the food choices so I can not comment on that and why I did not give a lower score. First of all for $ 8 small yogurt the cups choice be lined in 14 kt. I guess I have Been used to the deli opus tartness of other frozen yogurt establishments so this one with barely any flavor and tasteless fruit really did not do it for me. The baked goods looked way better so may e I would recommend tryin one of those and they had glutten free brownies that looked good too. It seems that many ofthe other menu items got better reviews so if you are liking for a tart frozen yogurt this is not your place but taste the other flavors beforee committing is my advice.

despite being a bit expensive, the food is delicious. since the portions are large, it can be considered a good value. i got the 40 carrots chopped salad, which came with tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, chickpeas, gouda cheese, avocado, and grilled chicken. it was light, fresh, and ended up being very filling since the lettuce ratio was pleasantly low compared to the rest of the toppings. my mother got the zorba chopped salad, which was a greek style, stocked with olives, feta, tomatoes, and chickpeas. my fiancé got the sonoma chicken salad, which was amazing. the chicken salad had raisins, nuts, and grapes, and was flavorfully dressed but not heavy. it came on a raisin nut bread that complemented the salad perfectly. of course, we finished with a frozen yogurt which was light and delicious(although i do think the charge for extra toppings is a bit high).

Great place for lunch! Located on the first floor of Bloomingdales near the make up section. You can sit down or get it to go. They also have the most amazing frozen yogurt!!! Everything is delicious and fresh.

40 Carrots(inside the front door of Bloomingdales, to the left) is for ladies who lunch. That said, it’s rather nice. The food is healthy, attractively presented, not terrifically expensive, reliable. It’s a soup and salad mecca designed for women who are watching their waistlines and probably shopping after lunch. The frozen yogurt is of the rich and sweet variety(as opposed to lighter, tarter yogurts like Pinkberry.) Today they had vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and banana(banana!). It’s a nice place for lunch with your mom.

Salads were okay, service was painfully slow(and the place was empty!), fro yo was good but I was expecting more of a «tart» taste like pinkberry. Ok spot if you are looking for a healthy meal but wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.
