I like this place for three reasons. 1) It’s conveniently located, right off the interstate exit. 2) Clean restrooms. 3) I like saying, «Virk’s» with a bad Swedish accent repeatedly. If you’re traveling around Lake Michigan, the gasoline prices generally get higher towards and into the Chicago area, and this BP has a White Castle attached to it, so it’s a good pit stop for a break in a day long car trip. I’ve always found the workers here to be polite and efficient.

Filthy bathrooms, sneezing cashier, staff both speaking foreign language. Won’t be back.

I got a tank full of bad gasoline at this station. I filled up and a few miles down the road, the check engine light came on. My car requires 91 octane and I used the 93 octane premium from this station. I took the car to my mechanic and the engine codes were for improper fuel mixture/temperature in both cylinder banks(or something like that). He hypothesizes that the fuel had too much ethanol or not enough octane. Indeed, filling up right away with more gas from a different station has not resulted in any check engine light activity since, so it was clearly isolated to this gas station.

Oddly enough, this is a BP Amoco, but is called«Good to Go.» Go figure. In any case, not only does this fine establishment have consistently cheap gas, they have a treasure trove of other money saving options as well. Consider their cigarettes — on my most recent visit, Camel Lights were only 36.95 a carton! Wowza, take that Todd Stroger! In addition, clean bathrooms with the best hand dryer I’ve ever encountered in my travels, a Tilamook jerky bar and other regional treats, and a friendly staff that remains consistent from year to year. Bonus points for being attached to a White Castle, I can pick up a couple of Crave Cases for my pals in Glen Arbor on my way up. Love this place.
