Voted 2015 BEST PIZZA in Chesterton in the Northern Indiana Pizza Wars. We are a family owned business since 1972 with a large selection of pizza choices. You’ll be warmly greeted by friendly staff as you watch them make our pizza orders. Our dining room is all Indiana dunes — from the photographs on the walls to the decorations that were picked up on our Lake Michigan beaches. Dunes Photography also has a selection of framed and unframed photographs for sale in our building that represent Lake Michigan and the surrounding dunes areas. Pizzas come in 4 sizes (9″, 12″, 14″, 16″), 5 types of crusts (thin, thick, corn meal, wheat, deep pan), 5 sauces (tomato, white, taco, BBQ, taco), and 25 different fresh toppings. Our menu also includes sandwiches, salads, and many appetizers to choose from. Our pizzeria is located near downtown Chesterton where many town festivals take place over the year. We are open Wednesday thru Sunday from 4:00 to 8:30 and closed on Monday and Tuesday.

History

Established in 1972.

Duneland Pizza began in 1972 as a small carry-​out only pizzeria. The limited menu grew quickly over the years as the business also grew because of the loyal clientel that recognized the qualty product they were receiving here compared to the other pizzeria choices in the area. Our original thin and crispy crust now shares the menu with other homemade crusts — thick, corn meal, wheat, and deep pan. The original owner is still in the open concept kitchen greeting customers when they walk in the door. There have been generations of the same family working here since we opened our doors which helps ensure the consistancy and quality we demand of every pizza we serve. Many fond memories have been formed here by our employees as well as our customers.

I grew up in the Chesterton area and have lived here my whole life. I raised my two children here in Chesterton, one of whom continues to work here at the pizzeria after living in Ireland for 7 years, and the other who lives in Oregon and is in management at a restaurant there. My background in the restaurant business as well as the need for a good pizza in Chesterton at the time I opened Duneland Pizza encouraged me to open the business here. My love for the Indiana Dunes is shown throughout the pizzeria with my dunes photographs that are everywhere, along with driftwood and beach stones that I have picked up on the local beaches. I love being able to meet so many of my customers that have been coming in for many years and hearing the stories of their memories of coming here since they were very young.
