Established in 2001.

We are a three doctor small animal practice striving to provide the best care for our patients, one at a time. Starting on July 12, 2001, Dr. James Read’s practice came to life. We offer laser surgery, digital x-​rays, laser therapy, dentistry, canine and feline annual wellness care, senior care, in house blood-​work, and client education. We also offer onsite boarding. We are conveniently located just off of highway 49 in Chesterton, Indiana. Bring your pets in to meet our friendly staff today!

Business Owner

Dr. James Read, DVM, is an University of Illinois Veterinary School graduate. He opened the doors of Ark of the Dunes Animal Hospital in July 2001 as a single doctor practice. Since this time he has built the hospital to provide quality medicine to the Chesterton area. His veterinary interests are in surgery and feline medicine. Outside of veterinary medicine he enjoys fine dining, relaxing at home, and spending time with his family.
