Books & Beyond is a Mountain Marketplace located in Old Town Chester, at the base of Lassen Peak in Lassen Volcanic National Park and near the shores of Lake Almanor in Northern California.

Books & Beyond features a general category bookstore from classics to new releases, non-​fiction, hiking, biking, local history and guide books, a children’s book room, The Back Room Art Gallery, Clothing and Dry Cleaning Services, UPS shipping, PLUS Public Computer Access with Printer and Free Wireless Internet Access.

History

Established in 2003.

B & B Booksellers was established in 2003, as the culmination of owner, Susan Bryner’s dream to reinvent her life. Named after Susan’s husband and parents, B & B Booksellers began as a simple, general category bookstore. In 2005 The Back Room Art Gallery was added attracting some of the best talent in the Lake Almanor area featuring watercolors, oils, pastels, acrylics, photography, raku pottery, pine needle basketry, wood carving and fabric art. In 2007 Dry Cleaning was added to the eclectic mix of services at the store. In 2008 manager Dawn Gray joined Susan as a co-​owner of the store and in 2010 they they added the Basement, an eclectic blend of clothing, hats, scarves, aprons and footwear and changed the store’s name to Books & Beyond: A Mountain Marketplace to reflect the store’s many faces. Our newest endeavor is our Business Center offering copying, faxing, public computer use, free wi-​fi and UPS shipping.
