Description

Specialties

Atelier isn’t just a salon; it’s an experience and a culture: A culture of excellence and of exceeded expectations. We strive to deliver an experience for our clients and customers that is not only enjoyable, but something that is looked forward to. This began with finding an appropriate location. From there, we began organizing a group of professionals to serve the needs of our clients. We pulled from a pool of both acquaintances, family members and local beauty artisans. We worked with our team to hand select the products that we would use to provide our services to our clients as well as to offer the local community in a retail setting.

We invite you to join us for one of our services, or to sit in chat in our comfortable sitting room and to experience the culture of care and excellence that we’ve created. You’ll recognize us in Kent Island, on Postal Road, by our rose colored door.

History

Established in 2012.

Welcome to Salon Atelier. We are Julia Hartman and Cynthia Newsome and we started this business in order to address what we saw as a great deficit in the customer service industry on the Eastern Shore. It’s no question that the shore has salons and day spas in spades, but the majority of experiences we’ve had in have left us underwhelmed. That missing care and passion is the cornerstone of what Atelier is.

Meet the Business Owner

Cynthia N.

Business Owner

A long time veteran of the beauty industry, Cindy started Salon Atelier with her partner and friend, Julia Hartman. After owning several successful salons in Maryland and working in successful salons in other states as well as being a platform artist for various professional hair care companies, Cindy settled in her home town of Chestertown. Noting the lack of experience that was offered to the local client, she and Julia set out to create a new salon experience for the Eastern Shore and the two of them began the creation of what Salon Atelier would become.
