Had a sleep study performed and several consultations with Dr. Shah. My sleep study technician was very helpful and informative, and put me at ease throughout the process. My subsequent consultations with Dr. Shah have been a little less than helpful. Dr. Shah isn’t very talkative, so expect to drive the consultation. The only information you’re likely to get is by asking him questions directly, so if you’re going to see him do your research ahead of time and know what to ask. During my initial consult after my sleep study, Dr. Shah barely went over my results and didn’t explain what any of the numbers meant. Next thing I know, I was prescribed«sleeping pills», which through online research I later discovered are antidepressants — turns out an off-label use is for insomnia. After scheduling a follow-up appointment to put my mind at ease, I finally started taking the medicine and am getting a good night’s sleep. I’m grateful for my diagnosis and treatment, but would have liked a more open dialogue with my physician to get there.
