Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill

This place is ok. The pulled pork platter is good. The donuts are ok. The service is ok. Nothing spectacular but I’d go here again.

This was my first time here and boy, I must say it was pretty great. My friend and i were debating between Buffalo Wild Wings and I’m so glad we chose here! It wasn’t packed and service was great! Josh and Mikey were very attentive and friendly at the bar and made the visit worth it. I was very happy to see that they had veggie burgers because I’ve been craving one for the longest and it was Awesome! The food was cooked perfectly and presented in a very timely manner. Of course the game is on and everyone is was here to watch but luckily it wasn’t crowded or hard to hear or find a good spot in front of the tv. If I’m ever back in Chesapeake, I’ll be sure to return! Oh yeah, and not to mention, they cook everything with the good smokey taste which is great for those who eat meat because it’s more flavorful. Great job to all who made this experience awesome sauce!

This is a regular for us. Great food and a nice variety. We go on Fridays and get there early as is does get busy

Where do I even start. I placed an order online to be picked up at 6:45pm. We didn’t get to the place until 6:50pm. Gave them a little extra time. I park in the to go spot an my husband goes in to get the food. This is where is goes down hill from here. First, they tried to give us someone else’s to go order. My husband told them that it wasn’t our order. They FINALLY bring out our order, but again, they were missing stuff from the order. So, my husband told the manager and they could tell by now that my husband was a little pissed. The manager said «you seem like you are a little upset» ya think. It’s not 7:20pm I have been waiting on my food for 30 minutes that should have been done by now. The manager didn’t apologize, say hey let me get this on the house for you all. NOTHING. I will NOT be returning here to a place with this kind of poor customer service.
***UPDATE***
After, sending a complaint via their website, we did receive a call from the manager Jeff to find out some more information of what exactly happened that night. He also thanked us for letting him know because without us telling him he can’t fix what needs to be fixed. We did give them another try and he picked up the bill, which was very nice. Thank you for addressing the problem and working to correct it. Also, thank you for picking up the bill as that was not expected, but very nice of you.

So unbelievably delicious and the service was amazing ask for Mykayla at the bar, she is fantastic!

In from out of town, packed parking lot so I gave it a try. LOVED the food and our bartender Mykayla was awesome as well. Only in town for a week but I will definitely be coming back at least one more time

WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE FOR WASTING MY TIME HERE. TOOK FUCKING 40 mins to get our food THAT WE ASKED FOR TO GO! About half of our waiting time at the bar (after we ordered) we realized we needed to ask for it to go. It’s was very obvious that the kitchen staff was slow and we didn’t have enough time to enjoy our meal at the restaurant. I immediately opened my nachos that I ordered and they weren’t hot nor cold but warm, you think they would be hot being we waiting for 40 mins. First time being here and never comin back

First let me say that my server Michael was wonderful! He was attentive and suggested the fruit teas that we loved. I wanted to try a little of everything so I went for the make your own combo platter which included ribs and smoked chicken. I also added the brisket for 3 additional dollars. My sides were roasted corn and their version of dirty rice, which were quite delicious. The platters were huge amd worth the dollars. I didn’t get dessert because I was stuffed and brought back a doggy bag. I hadn’t been here in 10 years but plan to return next week. I could get very used to this!

This is my favorite restaurant ever!!! My family and I come to smokey bones for every occasion, from birthdays to graduation celebrations, even for dinner after prom! They always have great service, the staff are hard workers. Sometimes it can be crowded on certain days and you may have to wait on a table :((I hate that) and they usually take a while to bring the food out! Overall, it’s worth the money because their food is delicious… if you decide to go, try their cornbread or the loaded French fries that comes with cheese and bacon it’s my favorite.

Party to be seated. So the manager offers free apps. Thank God because they came over an hour ago. So we’ve managed to stave off starvation until now. However being diabetic, it seems the insulin dose (taken before we ordered) is kicking in and things are getting shaky … More sweet tea please?
Truthfully, I have seen monkey’s in a zoo fight each other with their feces in a more organized fashion.
If Smokey Bones was any slower they’d be moving backward in time.

Arrived with a group of 10 for a dinner on a Wednesday night. It took them a while to seat us even though there were plenty of tables they just couldn’t figure out where to seat us (which was the reason for my review only giving them 4 stars). It took longer than expected to seat us which was a tad annoying. But after we were seated we had a pretty good experience here. Our waitress was polite and courteous. Atmosphere was good although there were a few instances where we had to request twice for something (switching one of the tv channels, water, etc). I ordered a passion fruit blitz lemonade with boba and it was absolutely delicious!!! Ribs were fall off the bone tasty and everything food and drink wise were satisfactory. Will return on our next business trip to VA.

Having to clean my own spot at the bar makes me sad. I’m paying enough to at least have someone run a rag over the damned counter.
I ordered food that should’ve taken at least 15 mins to make it to my seat but it came out in less than 10 and the plate was hot which means it was in the microwave again.

We love coming here. The staff is always polite and attentive. The food is always prepared to order and tastes amazing. There a tons of TV sets around the bar around to watch so you don’t miss any game time.
It’s hard to leave room for dessert with the large portions of food, but if you can, be sure to try the Leaning Tower of Chocolate Cake. It is addictive!
If you like to save money, be sure to ask about their drink specials (the beer is always nice and cold) as well as sign up for the rewards program where you can earn free items like appetizers and/​or desserts. Also, when you sign up for the rewards program they email you some pretty awesome coupons too!

Last night was the first time my boyfriend and I had been to Smokey Bones. Last minute decision and we were starving. It was around 10 pm when we arrived. It was pretty busy for that time of night, plus it was St. Patrick’s Day.
A girl, who I assume was a hostess, not 100% sure, greeted us about 30 –45 seconds of standing in front of her. She asked how many, then said she’d be right back and disappeared into the kitchen. About a minute went by and a guy comes up, think he was a server, asked how many and seated us right away.
Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. BUT, she put in our drink order, which was a beer and a shot. It took the bartender 20 minutes or more to make it. We about left bc it was taking so long and while they were busy, it wasn’t so busy that it should take THAT long for drinks.
Food came out relatively fast and was good. Our waitress and the food was the only thing that saved this place.

Amazing staff. Colin is incredible! What an amazing manager! They were so accommodating and happy to help out during my brother’s birthday!!! A great experience! Thank you so much for an amazing evening!

If you have an allergy beware!
We will NEVER go back! First of all it took an hour and half to be seated after we were told around 45 minutes. We ordered the nachos with pork and guacamole as an app. When they came out there was no guac. I asked the guy and he said they didn’t have any and asked if it was a deal breaker. I replied that it was because we love guacamole. He said sorry and said we could keep them and he would take them off our tab. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich for my meal but informed our server I’m allergic to blue cheese and don’t want it. When she brought it out she said here ya go and there is no blue cheese on it. I thanked her. After taking a bite I realized it did have blue cheese! And I just ate it. So when our server checked back I told her. She was so apologetic and explained that she put it in as no blue cheese and that it was an allergy! She was very sorry and I knew it wasn’t her fault. But by the time I got the new one I was not hungry anymore. My fault I should have just had her take it off the tab. Now when the bill came everything was in it! Nachos guacamole sandwich and all I didn’t ask for the sandwich to be removed as I shouldn’t have had to! I worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years. When you almost loosen someone you don’t charge them for their meal at the very least. Ive worked at places that comp the entire bill and or offer incentive to come again let alone the food that was wrong! We asked her about the nachos that the gentleman said he would remover. She took the bill and when she brought it back she told us «I don’t know what she told you but she took this off» and handed us the bill. Only the nachos were removed. The guacamole we never received and the up charge for the pork were still in the bill. I guess we should have asked to speak with the gentleman because we don’t know who she had correct the bill. Our waitress was really good and none of this was her fault BUT this was a horrible experience!
So basically they could have killed me and a manager didn’t even come to say they were sorry. Horrible. I may even report to cooperate because this is a very dangerous situation and they obviously don’t care in this location.

Smokey bones has always been the go-​to spot to drink with my friends. They have cheap pitchers, drink specials, and late night eats as well. My experience with eating during prime time though, the service has been slow and pretty bad. But I like that they are open late til 2am every night. The food there is also pretty good, you can also build your own burger. The crowd is pretty small during late nights, it’s a great place to just catch up and have some drinks.

I AM SO UPSET AT THIS PLACE. HONESTLY THE WORST.
my parents decided to come here because they never ate here before. I wanted to go somewhere fancy but since it was a Friday night I knew it would be impossible! so I stuck with this place. I was at work during the day so my sister made a reservation. My sister reserved a table for about 15 people at 6. we got at the place around 5:45 ish and we wanted to go ahead and order our drinks while we wait for the rest of my family to come through. when we went to the hostess desk and said that we have a reservation underneath my name. THEY GAVE OUR TABLE TO SOMEONE ELSE. PEOPLE WHO DID NOT HAVE A RESERVATION. of course we would be upset. then the hostess were being really rude and talking shit directly to us instead of whispering or something. even the manager was lowkey dissing us. basically the worst customer service ever.
The food was nasty. it wasn’t fresh at all. the BBQ was burnt. the vegetables tastes raw. and it TOOK FOREVER for it to arrive at the table. they forgot my nephews French fries and my moms hot tea.
Basically this place isn’t the best place to eat. save your money and go somewhere else for Bbq.

I have not been to a Smokey Bones in years.
It was delicious. I got the half chicken and the skin was amazing.
The guy with me got a burger and he was delighted with his choice.

First off, if it smells a little funky when you first walk in, don’t mind it; most likely you just came in during the final hours and the staff is busy keeping things in order before they close shop.
Second, if it’s Monday past 9pm and you’re not sure where to grab a meal, COME HERE. During these Monday hours, a meal becomes a feast: they serve UNLIMITED wings (over 15 flavors, feel free to mix ‘n match) for $ 11/​person.
Third, if your server is a guy named Jeremy, you’ll be taken CARE of. Me and a couple buddies came here a little past 1am and he made sure we got to try out all the flavors on the menu before the kitchen closed at 1:30am. He even brought in other wing flavors beyond the ones we ordered.
Fourth, four bottles of craft beer for $ 13. Feel free to mix ‘n match. Check the menu for suggestions or ask your server.
Lastly, don’t play the Ziosk table games on the tablet; as fun as they may be while you kill time, you’ll end up with a $ 2 charge. So no need, just enjoy your company and find a TV screen with your favorite sports coverage
