History

Established in 1936.

Since 1936, AYB has been a family owned, full service boat repair and storage facility. Nearly 80 years later, a third generation leads Atlantic Yacht Basin with the same values and high standards of craftsmanship, quality, and integrity, standards established by pioneer founder D. Dunwoody Atkinson. In the midst of the Depression, he invested his savings and built AYB, creating a man made basin at mile 12 on the Intracoastal Waterway. AYB provides a combination of fresh water, salt free air, a good hurricane hole, and first quality work. From the beginning, AYB trained its own ship carpenters and has earned a reputation as one of the best boat repair facilities on the Eastern seaboard.
