It’s closed. Gone. There is nothing there. A cyclone fence surrounds an empty lot. Too bad. Try somewhere else. Unilocal can stop suggesting thus one every time I visit the site.

I went to Scanlon’s at the advice of my mother(fellow foodie) who said they make awesome turkey clubs. It is situated in the strip mall on Cheltenham Avenue toward the Tookany Creek end. Judging it from the outside, I admit, I didn’t expect much. Getting to the inside, I was greeted promptly by an Asian woman at the register who was in the process of ringing up another customer and selling lottery tickets. I perused their extensive drink selection on my way to the rear counter to order take out. The interior was a bit outdated and had a diner feel to it. There was a little old lady in the back that took my order. While I waited, she was quite the«Chatty Cathy» but I didn’t mind at all. She was pleasant and made the short wait even shorter. I could see the cook in the back making my sandwich. He didn’t say anything but his immediate surroundings were very clean, as well as his smock, so I was happy. I was so hungry that day that day that I rushed out to the car and immediately unwrapped my sandwich and took a bite. Since I got xtra mayo and it was a little messy, I vowed to save the rest until I got home. Funny thing is… after driving about 100 feet to exit the parking lot, I pulled back over to finish what I had started! Mom was totally right about this sandwich: It had that GOOD turkey. You know, the real, unprocessed kind. The bread was toasted. It also had a good ratio of meat, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, etc. I used to go to another spot for my clubs, but condidering the taste(and price) of the one at Scanlon’s, I’ll be making many more frequent trips.

I have been coming here for close to 20 years now~ Lots of memories, lot of good times, and great food! I LOVETHEFOODHERE! my favorite for breakfast is the Number 6! I also love their cheesesteaks, corn beef sandwiches, roast beef sandwiches, and etc. If you have never been, you must try out! Highly recommend! Service isn’t that great, and the restaurant is old, but the food more than makes up for it!

This place has been under the ownership of a Korean couple for a while so it may not resemble the Scanlon’s of the past, but the food here is still pretty good. They serve breakfast all day and you get a good amount of food for cheap. The service at times maybe slow because the place probably has a maximum of two waitresses at a given time and only one cook. So occasionally you may see some tables that haven’t been cleaned yet. But the service is usually nice and once you get your order in, the food comes out pretty quick. It is a nice local place that has good breakfast with various lunch items thrown in there as well.
