Crown Fried Chicken & Pizza

Have ordered from here a couple of times (take out only) and haven’t had any disappointments. Both times I’ve ordered pizza and, well, it’s pizza. Nothing special, just what I was expecting. The crust is different than some other places, but I enjoyed it (though I don’t tend to discriminate against pizza). The Crown Pizza (chicken, mushrooms, olives, tomato and peppers) has been my fave! They also really load on the toppings, which was a pleasant surprise. Additionally, they offer halal, which is a plus for my household. When in a pinch on a busy weeknight and as long as I live down the street, I will keep ordering.

This is probably this best crown chicken I have ever been to. They have very good food and subs. The owner is super nice.

Literally, the worst food I ever had. Not to mention it took an hour and a half to get to my house, which is ½ mile from them. And they forgot 3 items out of my order. Yeah, I should have eaten the $ 25 I spent, cus I certainly didn’t eat the food.

One night a few weeks ago I got a hankering for some fried chicken. And even though there’s the yummy Pollo Campero a five minute walk from my house, I decided to be daring and try a new place and have it delivered (because I’m lazy like that). Plus I’ve seen it on Broadway and wanted to try it. It looked OK on the outside so when I saw that it did online ordering via an online ordering service, I was like OK, I’ll give it a try, as it can’t be THAT bad. (it was also recommended by the online ordering service!)
So of course, me being more hungry than anything I just order without checking Unilocal first. BIG MISTAKE. After I ordered I browsed over to Unilocal to read and was sadly disappointing in my choice. I usually take reviews with a grain of salt but these there were so few of them and they were consistently negative, I immediate regretted ordering from here.
However by the time I realized I made a mistake the food was already made and on its way here. ugh. Oh well, so I had no other choice than to see if I would be surprised and it was good. But sadly, I wasn’t.
The food was meh. I ordered small box of chicken that came with sides, and some popcorn chicken and fries.
The chicken was alright, not terrible. It was cooked well, but the seasoning was just gross. Other reviewers said it was salty, I just think it was too much of some spices (pepper?). But the texture and moisture was decent.
As far as the sides, I kept the rolls (those were decent), but tossed everything else. The mac and cheese and Cole slaw were really watery-​runny and looked like it had been sitting in a case for a while, as did the COLD instant potatoes and gravy.
The popcorn chicken was actually okay and didn’t have that odd taste. However it was clearly the frozen, then fried kind, and not fresh made.
The fries, much like all the other reviews were rubbery and just not exactly right. (and yes, maybe they were double cooked)
Overall I won’t order from here again. And to be honest, I just couldn’t put myself to eat it. It wasn’t terrible but between the chicken’s breading flavor and the fries, I just took a loss on the whole thing, tossed it all, and ended up going to Wendy’s on the parkway for dinner.
Moral of Story: Always check Unilocal before ordering from a new place!

Do you love salt? Then you will love their fried chicken. If you like dried out steak, I recommend the Steak and Cheese sub. The mashed potatoes were like instant stuff from a box. The price is good but there’s a reason! Oh, and delivery took way over an hour.

if you like French fries that have been sitting and shriveled then RE-​FRIED to warm them prior to serving them along with the rubbery dried out chicken they serve – then this place is for you! Along with the basics of cooking and general customer service, English is yet another essential, these people haven’t mastered.
Hungry? Better off to pass this place and go get a Snickers.

The pizza is weird and gross. The crust has so much sugar in it that it tastes like cake. The cheese is funky and plastic-​like. Its very similar to those individually wrapped «cheese» singles in the supermarket. You know the ones — you unwrap and remove the plastic yet the «cheese» still has the texture and taste of plastic. The pizza cheese here is just like that. The chicken fingers taste like they were soaked in salt water and then breaded with a high sodium breading. OH you should DEFINITELY check out the signature twice-​fried french fries. They cook a bunch of fries and leave them sitting out. Then, when you order fries, they take those already cooked fries and throw them back in the deep fryer to heat them back up. Sounds delicious, doesnt it??? Oh and the wings/​thighs/​drumsticks etc looked so good just sitting in the deep fryer basket half pulled out of the oil tilted on its side. I mean why use the enclosed warming case with racks where the chicken could be keeping warm and insect free? Just leave it weirdly out on top of the deep fryer.
