We think of enjoying wine at Tunnel Hill as a bit of a homecoming. A chance to settle down. Calm the mind. Quiet those feet. A chance to return to what is right before us: spectacular estate grown Syrah, Pinot Noir, Riesling. Immaculate grounds and historic architecture. Bring a picnic and sit in our Waterfall Garden or enjoy our full line up of summer events: yoga classes, Wine Tasting 101 workshops, vineyard tours, and Happy Hour Piano Jazz. Come visit. You will enjoy yourself!
History
Established in 2004.
Visit a Lake Chelan landmark! Founded by the Evans family, Tunnel Hill makes its home at the Sunshine Farm, a multi-generational family farm that has been producing quality food in the Chelan valley for over 50 years. We are housed in a historic cottage, built in 1937 of stones from the Knapp’s Hill Tunnel excavation. Back in ’33 the tunnel was blasted and a few years later, the rubble was used to build this cottage. Thus our name — Tunnel Hill — from the center of a mountain, just up the road. We like it — sturdy, solid, and very much from the earth.
Meet the Business Owner
Denny E.
Business Owner
Denny Evans planted the first Pinot Noir block in 2001 and son Guy Evans returned to the operation in 2003 after producing the NW Emmy nominated documentary, «Broken Limbs, Apples, Agriculture, and the New American Farmer.» The film portrayed the struggles of his father, Denny Evans, as well as many other farmers in the region. Tunnel Hill Winery was born from these tough times. Together, with help from other family and great employees, they have slowly built the winery grounds and expanded wine production. With deep roots in the Lake Chelan Valley, we are proud to steward this land into a new era and offer quality, artisan wines to valley guests and residents.
