A couple of weeks ago I had a nightmare situation with my car. I was driving down I-​24 before the I-​75 split and my car completely broke down and I barely was able to make it to the side of the road. I was in full panic mode, I was alone, it was a cold Sunday evening and I had about a 2 hour drive to go before I was home in Atlanta.
My insurance company USAA, the best insurance company ever, was able to get me towed to Pep Boys 15 minutes before they closed, thank goodness. Only problem, their service manger had left for the day. Jason and the other guys were total angels to me, they helped calm me down and even stayed almost 45 minutes past closing to make sure my dad, who lives in the area, was able to come get me and I had left safely. My safety was their main concern and they assured me that I would be the first car they looked at the next day.
The next morning I got a call from Jason letting me know that they were looking at my car and what he thought was going on, and they would test it out and call me back shortly once they were able to determine the cause for the car breaking down.
Not too long after I got the final call that my car was ready and it was good to drive back home, I came in expecting it to be really expensive, since it’s an Infiniti, but it was less than $ 300, and she drove great the whole way back.
I can’t thank Jason and the guys at Pep Boys enough for being so patient, kind, and professional while helping me, they were my holiday miracle! I highly recommend this place to anyone!

I don’t even know where to begin with my review!!! This place DOES NOT deserve ANY stars what so ever!!! My mother’s SUV (Drenda Williams is her name) was destroyed by these people!!! They fried her computer!!! Her car was taken to this terrible place (for a SMALL problem that should have beem fixed MONTHS AGO) in September and she still has not gotten it back! Apparently a guy working on it messed up BIG TIME and now they are not even trying to fix his mistake!!! As a result, this place has destroyed all of our family plans due to their blanton inconsistencies and irregaurd for the situation at hand (my mother’s suv and the fact that they are AT FAULT FOR messing up my mothers vehicle). If this company would have DONE THEIR JOB correctly and had NOT RUINED MY MOTHERS SUV, then she would be here with me and her grandchildren that she has not been able to see in a year (because we live out of town) THANKS A**H****, for ruining our Holidays, destroying my mothers vehicle and not even caring enough to fix it !!! You will NEVER GET ANY OF MY BUISNESS NOR WILL I EVER GIVE YOU ANY SORT OF POSITIVE REVIEW!!! You guys just need to go out of business, so no one else has to go through this type of torment and aggravation that you have caused my mother and our whole family!!! SHAME ON YOU!!! They had a good deal on their store brand version of a good all-​terrain tire (Cooper Adventurer AT), so this is where I came for service. I went in to make the purchase and appointment and my wife brought the truck by the next week. To me, they were friendly enough with one issue. When I mentioned the non-​store-​specific version of the tire I was getting (Cooper Discoverer AT3) they told me that version wasn’t being made anymore, which I knew was NOT true. Minus a star for either lying or else simply not knowing about the product they were selling.
My wife had a completely different experience. According to her, they were condescending to all the women who came up for service. They tried to upsell her on several items and services I didn’t want. They told her the brakes needed replacement because they were «in the red», whatever that means… I had just checked the pads the weekend before and there was plenty of material left.
This would be a 1-​star had the second set of event happened directly to me, but the info is second-​hand so I’m rating 2-​stars for lying/​uninformed and the hard upsells.

Quoted me $ 400 just to replace my rear brake pads! On top of that they were very rude when I asked as to why the high price tag. They made it very clear they didn’t need my business. I ended up going to a locally owned shop down the road for a price tag of only $ 100.

Our brakes started smoking after coming down lookout mountain. We called the Pep Boys in Hixson and the man who answer the phone had no sense of urgency for our safety issue. He said he might be able to get a satin on Sunday if we leave the car with him. We were pretty disappointed so I called this Pep Boys and Jon answer the phone. They close at 8 PM and were extremely helpful and fixed the issue within 30 minutes. Jon was so friendly and explained everything to us. We will defiantly be back for service. It was definitely worth the 30 min drive!

Worst experience I’ve ever had in my life with an auto repair center. My truck broke down traveling through Chattanooga and got a tow to this Pep Boys location.
Only thing wrong with my truck was the fuel pump went out. It cost $ 1100!!!
The job took 2 hours and I was charged $ 400 for labor on replacing the fuel pump and another $ 90 on labor for cleaning the line.
I asked for them to use the cheapest part possible… so what did they do? Stuck a $ 309 fuel pump in my truck. By far their most expensive. That same fuel pump costs $ 187.49 on
. They also have $ 75 fuel pumps on their website.
Also, they told me I needed a new battery. That wasn’t true at all. My battery is less than a year old and I had killed it the night before repeatedly trying to crank. I had already told them this.
So after paying my exorbitant fee to get my truck back I walk out and try to crank my truck. What happened? Nothing. Absolutely no power.
Well they had just moved my truck into the parking lot before I got back, so I knew it had to work. I tried jumping it off… nothing. No signs of power at all.
I go back inside to get someone out and the guy brings a jumper pack out… still nothing. I asked, «did yall disconnect my battery?»
I asked for him to go get some pliers. He does. He cranks down on both connections and BOTH of them were loose. So I ask, did they do this on purpose in hopes I was desperate and dumb enough to buy a new battery? Seemed so to me.
So I implore anyone in the Chattanooga area, DO NOT USE PEP BOYS, unless you like getting ripped off and robbed.
[a few notes since I am writing this 1 day later]
–I have successfully cranked my truck over 15 times in the last 36 hours, nothing wrong with the battery.
–a boy called me from this pepboy location earlier today to find out about my visit. I voiced my concerns and he was completely smug and arrogant about their practices and immoral pricing. While he continually begrudgingly half-​ass apologized. The only thing he was sorry for was having to act like he cared
–I REPEAT. DO NOT USE PEPBOYS FOR ANY REASON.

There’s a communication problem here. I walked in and asked for fog lights and the guy with beard kept asking «what». I spoke clearly and distinctly. I explained they are for when the fog is real bad. He finally understood. He showed me where they were. Then, I went to counter and asked if they have any bull bars for pickups. Again, kept asking what and don’t understand. I have never had this problem. He may not can hear very good or something. But I don’t have time for this so I will try Pep Boys in Hixson another day.

My husband and I were on our way home after a vacation in Nashville and broke down on the side of the interstate in Chattanooga. After an hour & a half wait in the rain a tow truck took us to Pep Boys. The guy behind the counters name was Frank. He said he was the lead tech and would get us on the road. We left the truck with him & went to grab lunch next door. As soon as we returned he met us in the parking lot and said they didn’t have our part but he found it across town. He handed us the part # and his truck keys and sent us to get it. I couldn’t believe he just handed us his truck keys! We got back and they jumped on it but after 3 hours it just wasn’t going to work. That guy tried everything. Frank drove us to a hotel himself and offered to take us somewhere to eat. We tried to give him a tip for everything he did but he declined. He told us to call first thing in the morning and he would get the part from the dealership and get us on the road. We were upset to have to stay but we were so impressed by his hospitality and grateful for his effort. I definitely recommend frank and pep boys!

I came into pep boys at the closing hour. I had a nail in my tire and at the last minute, my friend pulled me into this business and asked the technician to help me out. I could tell that no one was thrilled to be getting a customer as they were trying to close, but they did not turn me away, which I appreciated. My friend offered to give a ride to a family who was broken down and staying in a nearby hotel, and I think that won us a soft spot in the heart of Gene and Paul, who then patched my tire and filled it up with no charge! That’s right, they wouldn’t even accept a tip! I was so excited to receive customer service like that, as it is a rare thing!

Beware! James, the service manager at the Pep Boys facility on Gunbarrel Road in Chattanooga, TN, can’t hear. It isn’t obvious but when he asked if I wanted a cabin filter to be replaced in my car I said, «no, I don’t want the cabin filter but I will let my husband decide on the gas additive.» Well, they installed it and charged us $ 31 more, twice the amount of the original reason we went in there. Did he apologize for «misunderstanding»? Yes. Did he offer to take the filters out or give us a discount? No. Which do you think would have made this «mistake» easier to accept He showed us the filter and yes, it was dirty but that still doesn’t mean that we wanted it replaced now especially when I said no originally. I plan to warn all my friends to watch for added charges when dealing with this Pep Boys store. I would have given a zero star rating but I wasn’t given the option.

Decided to go here because my friend said they were open on Sundays and I found a coupon, needed an oil change. When I arrived they said it would be awhile which was fine since we were going to have lunch next door.
When we came back they were just finished up my oil change. I got in line behind a lady. My friend noticed that they handed her the keys to my car. She told them that they were not her keys and now we have a problem.
Apparently the workers had been talking to her about my car so she got some windshield wipers. When it was finally sorted out I was basically coerced into having to get the wipers which were a whopping $ 40, twice as much as the oil change.
I didn’t even get a sticker to know when I need to get the oil changed again. Not happy at all. I should have been treated better since it was THEIR mistake. I never wanted wipers. What if this woman had told them to put new tires on the car or do some mechanical work that would have cost hundreds of dollars? Will not be returning!
