Cloud Nine Hookah Lounge

Not sure why this place overall doesn’t have good ratings. I will say its a hole in the wall with someone using their phone as a playlist but does it matter? Vibes were really good and all the staff was helpful and friendly. Not to mention… ever since my UAE trip I have been such a hookah snob, realizing more than ever now how crappy some of these hookah joints are in the US. But no… not these… these hookahs were awesome! The coals were just right and the shisha was not burnt. They know what they are doing here. Also they offer the normal drinks plus hot tea and cocoa. They really want people to chill out. I enjoyed myself. With that being said, the parking lot is tight but there is lots of street parking. The place stays open late and really didn’t even get crowded until after 10:30. Prices were good. They offer regular and premium shisha like starbuzz. They also offer two sizes of hookahs and will fill the vase with different items for an additional $ 2. PS — They bring out bubbles for you if you want to do hookah tricks!

Décor is nice. Here’s the problem: LOUD DUBSTEP. Even for people in their early 20s this is unbearable and the wrong music for a hookah lounge. Ever heard of Bob?!? The service was very poor, took forever to be served drinks. Only two single person bathrooms for a place that can hold about 30. Took me forever to have a turn. I left a suggestion about the music. Keep the loud electronic stuff at Raw, it doesn’t belong with hookah.

Maybe this place used to be something special, but the room looked very rundown and the owner was obnoxious and arrogant yet knew nothing about hookah. I feel sorry for Chattanooga… stay away from this one.

That was my review for this place two or three years ago. Unfortunately this place came under new management a bit back and has steeply dropped in quality. It still has much of the same furniture and smoking equipment, but the customer service in this place is abysmal. I’ve tried chalking it up to new staff or an off-​night but repeatedly now I’ve waited 30+ minutes on soft drinks and much longer on hookah. For such a small operation this place should run much more efficiently. There seems to be a lot of lax management.
On the bright side they do play great music in here and it is a really comfortable environment.

After living in Chatt for a few years, I finally got out to Cloud 9. It’s a little out of downtown Chattanooga, but not terribly hard to find with a little help. It’s in a little plaza across the street from a neighborhood looking bar.
Upon walking in, there were only 2 other groups of people there. So we got to pick any place we wanted to sit. There’s an open area in the front with couches, some booths to the left, couches in the back, and loungey seats closer to the floor on the right. The couches in the back looked nice and comfortable, but upon sitting down, we were sucked in, so we opted for the seats to the right.
We got 2 hookahs for 4 people. With 2 flavors, it came out to about $ 7 a piece for us, which I thought was extremely reasonable. I think we had an apple and peach flavor, both were good but I think I preferred the peach better.
We stayed for about an hour, there was a group of college students next to us, and chatted for a bit. Food choices did not look that appetizing. All their drinks are either bottled/​canned. Our hostess was really friendly and laid back, she chatted with us, and another chick talked to us about the different flavors. Overall a decent place, not fancy, good for hanging out with friends.

Never open. A relaxing puff after a large dinner would of been nice. Went out of my way to find Cloud Nine. Despite it being after 7:00 pm I was told that they where not open yet. I asked about the posted hours of 5:00 — 12:00 and was laughed at and told they do not go by that. Even though someone was working and the door was open. What a disappointment. First time there and was turned away at the door. Nothing worse then a business that will not take your money.

In all of the cities I’ve lived in, there have always been a plethora of hookah bars to choose from and I was surprised an up-​and-​coming hip city like Chatt didn’t have one yet. So I was ecstatic when Chattanooga finally opened their first hookah bar! Upon walking in, I was immediately impressed by the décor and atmosphere — lush fabrics and drapery, deep warm jewel tones, lots of floor cushions and pillows, low lighting, and Middle Eastern music. I like when a hookah bar keeps it authentic instead of getting too minimalistic and trendy.
The place is owned by a young couple who also work there, and they are both very friendly and funny. The hookah itself is quality, and they have a variety of flavors to choose from — you can even mix flavors if you’d like. Additionally, Cloud Nine offers drinks (alcoholic and not) and tasty Meditteranean appetizers like hummus and grape leaves! Best of all, it’s really reasonably priced — hookah can sometimes get expensive, but not this place!
The owners were telling me that Chattanooga really gave them the run around when they tried to open the lounge. So unfortunately, it’s only 21 and up, even though most hookah places are 18+. I’m sure that impedes business a little since Chattanooga is largely populated with UTC students! Anyway, if you’re over 21 and open to a relaxing experience with some friends, give Cloud Nine a try!

It’s a shame that this place is 21 and up because they’re missing out on potential customers (i.e. some college students), but it’s the city’s fault and not theirs.
I can’t tell you enough how great Cloud Nine is! From the variety of hookah flavors to their teas, you’re going to enjoy what you get there. Upon my first visit we chatted a bit with the owners, and they are so helpful and genuine. If you’ve been to other hookah joints, you can tell they took the time and effort to really decorate the place and give it the right vibe. If you’re in Chattanooga, Cloud Nine is a MUST!
P. S. They’re also beginning to have weekly specials (½ off, 15% with college or military ID), so be sure inquire over the phone or when you come in!

Excellent! The service was fantastic. There are a plethora of hookah smoke flavors to pick from and several base flavors as well. The décor is lovely and the tea is great. I loved it!
