OUTSTANDING LOCKSMITH SERVICE when I bought my home in Chatsworth i only had one remote gate opener they help me to get a second one for my wife’s car. one year later I bought a new car it only had one coded key for my car I went to Elie’s again and they made me another coded key and ordered me a second remote car alarm opener for my wife Arthur called me when it arrived I dropped off my car he called me in under a hour later that the new alarm remote was ready .THEY KNOW THERE STUFF please go to Elie’s for all your locksmith needs be it car keys and remote devices or new keys made for your home. and many interesting things to look at in the store. I will spread the word about Elis’s thank you for you wonderful locksmith service. truly a Gem in Chatsworth.

I needed an additional key for my office for my assistant. I had gone to several places to get the key made, however, they didn’t have the right blank for the key I needed. I was at Vons and I realized there was a lock and key place in the same plaza so I went in. The guys who worked there were very nice and polite. They looked at my key and told me it would take them less than 3 minutes to make the key for me. I paid $ 5.95 and within 5 minutes I was in and out of the store. I highly recommend this shop for all your lock and key services. Thanks guys!

I Went to this place because I needed a switchblade entry remote fob cut, I talked to Arthur he said they charge $ 35 & it was gonna take 30 min it seemed a little to much time for this job but I didn’t say anything I just wanted to get that new key done.
He asked me what car I was driving & where it was parked, I walked out of the store to buy some stuff I came back 10 min later he said the key was ready & he programmed it too.
Yes, he got into my car & programmed that key without my authorization !!
He said they usually charge $ 50 but he was gonna charge me only $ 20 I just couldn’t believe this guy was trying to charge for something that I didnt ask him to do & that I could have done myself I was really disappointed.
I paid him because I was tired & I didn’t wanted to start an argument in front of my sons.
I definitely don’t recommend this store be aware of this people.

Charged me a $ 150 to bump my door lock. I don’t feel like I got a good deal. Took him all of 30 seconds and I only paid because I was desperate.
Update 9÷22÷15 The owner claims the person who came out wasn’t with his company. But I called his company and the locksmith came out, I find his claim dubious. His offer below is easy to make since they know the contract locksmith has his own credit card machine and doesn’t use Elie’s company’s name. Moved to 1 star due to shady business practices!

Very bad customer service way over priced the gentlemen did this to me twice and yes I was the sucker because I was in a hurry. First time he told me this was a special key it would be $ 7.00 for my deadbolt standard key. Next time I went in it was for my door key he told me it would be a special cut and would cost me $ 6.00 lol so I took the key back went to true valley hardware in Granada hills and got the key cut for a $ 1.50 and the other was .99 cents. Don’t the foreign guy with his plastic shoes rip u off!!!

My Toyota Scion key broke. I purchased one online containing a transponder, which, supposedly, could be programmed and cut for the car. Thank goodness for Artur’s explanation to me. He said he could program it, but it would only start the car. The other key functions would not work. The online key seller did not disclose that information. I purchased a blank key from Elie’s. Artur removed the transponder from my old key, put it in the blank I bought from him (which was very fairly priced) and cut the key. It is perfect. This saved me much money. I highly recommend Elie’s. They are fair, honest and very helpful!

I have a 63 Chevy truck that did not come with keys for the door. I need to be able to lock my truck so I was ready to pay a lot. I called and was told if I bring the handles in, it would cost $ 55 to $ 60 and would only take a few hours. I brought them in at 9:30 on Saturday and my wife picked them up at 3pm. It was $ 55 just like they said and they work great. Oh ya, when I called they said their hours on Sat were 10 to 4. I went early to see if I could catch them on the way in since I was on my lunch. He had opened early. That was AWESOME!

I went in today (7÷9÷2014) and had two keys made. One was for my vehicle (I supplied the key) and one for my house. I didn’t have the ability to check either key, just trusted they would work. My car wasn’t there (rode with a friend). Both keys worked flawlessly! I’ve had several keys made at various places and many of them felt terrible in the locks. It was a very pleasant surprise to have effortless motion with the keys from Elies. I will definitely recommend them!

Overpriced and rude customer service. I paid $ 6 for two keys and when I mentioned that the prices were a little steep, the guy told me that they pay $ 5,000 in rent a month. Um. ok.
So I went to Lowes next time where the prices were way more reasonable and I’m sure their rent is more than $ 5,000. I like supporting local businesses but not when they’re rude to customers.

ANGRY, EVERYONE IS ANGRY IN CHATSWORTH,.
I’m not gonna lie reading these negative reviews made me NOT want to go into this Elie’s Lock & Key. BUT I had my boyfriends key to our gate and he would have had a b*tch fit if I were to come home without my own key that I originally lost. So I went in, the guy greeted me & asked me what key I wanted, and was out in minutes. I don’t get why people are so mad at the nice gentleman in Elie’s. I will be back if I need a key made, it’s close and convenient to my work place.
** The prices are a bit more than where my boyfriend had keys made by a few bucks, but who am I to complain I lost my own keys.

Quick and fast service. I needed a key copied, and Home Depot didn’t have this particular key style. Price was greater than elsewhere, but reasonable considering it was not a traditional Kwikset key. Only frustration is their arbitrary policy on only using credit cards for purchases over $ 10, a clear violation of Credit Card Regulations. Other than that, very very fast service.

I read the reviews below and found the negative ones to be particularly nasty and personal, so I decided to give them a shot when my door lock broke. Arthur came over immediately. The lock wasn’t salvageable. He installed a new one. He was courteous and efficient and the price was reasonable. I would recommend.

THESE GUYS ARE CROOKS. They give you false information in order to up charge you.
I needed to make an extra set of car keys. I brought in my car key along with a genuine certified blank I bought from a dealer. The employee asked me where I got it and told him the internet. He told me he will cut it but not guarantee that it will work but won’t offer me a refund. He also wanted to charge me $ 35.00 to cut. In order guarantee it would work I would have to buy the blank from him for another $ 25.00
GUESS WHAT. I went to another locksmith down the street and he cut the key for $ 10.00 and it works. Much better than paying $ 60.00

I had used Elie’s Lock and key a few times. they were nice.
I recently went there to buy batteries for my garage door opener. The Owner (Son) was there, He was really nice and changed the batteries for me. A couple of weeks later, i noticed the garage door opener wasnt working again, I went back to have them to check the batteries again. The Owner (Father) helped me. He said those werent his batteries, i said yes, i bought them from here. He continued to argue with me, and there were some other customers around. was very rude, unprofessional and embarassing! He continued to tell me those were not his batteries, but he was going to put them in. and then he said that if i buy batteries there, and they dont work, they have nothign to do with it. i have to contact the manufacturer. i was soo upset. The way the father treated me was really uancceptable. He was very rude and mean. He completely lost my business. And i used to send him alot of business. NO MORE! For a less than $ 10 battery set, he didnt have to act the way he did. He lost alot of future business with me

somehow my wife found this place, and we’re glad she did.
our home had a bunch of rickety 70s era locks inside and out. the doors barely closed, and the door to our garage had to be held in place because of bad installation. many of the plates had, for some reason, been painted over, which looks terrible. the door to our patio had a lock with a key basically fused in place.
Arthur came over and in a few hours had installed new locks on every door, fixed all the problems we had, and rekeyed everything to a single key so we’ll never have to remember which key goes to which door. and now the interior doors are babyproofed (the old ones had that little button you can pop to lock the door, but we didn’t have the key to open it if our soon to be toddler accidentally bumped it).
all that is service you can get anywhere, but the distinction for me was his friendliness and attention to detail. he explained it all, and checked with me while in the house to make sure he was doing exactly what we wanted. and when he had to shave the top of a door to make it close better, he covered the furniture. I have no clue if we paid more or less, or if we could have bargained the price down a bit, but I am happy with the job and the service.
