Currie Technologies is a developer, manufacturer and distributor of quality, high– performance Hybrid and Electric Powered Bicycles and Scooters with our patented Electro Drive Technology. These products fall under the subsidiaries of the IZIP and eZip brands. Differentiated by price point but not quality, these two brands fit in with individuals from all walks of life. Our objectives is to build products that offer cost effective, emissions free alternatives to other forms of transportation for commuting, sport, and recreation. Currie Technologies recently opened its doors to the individual consumer allowing access to our full line of products. Until recently, this was only possible through our retailers.

History

Established in 1990.

In the late 1990’s an aerospace engineer, Dr. Malcolm Currie, and a High School teacher, Richard Mayer began to ‘tinker’ with a standard adult bicycle combining it with some simple electrical components and an onboard battery source to create a hybrid electric bike. The cornerstone of the design was Dr. Currie’s patented Electro-​Drive® propulsion system which offered a clean, affordable, and efficient energy source to this new light electric ‘vehicle’ that gave the rider the ability to pedal normally as well as a boost of power to increase speed, distance, and range. Soon they realized that this new Currie Electro-​Drive® propulsion system had other applications and they entered the mass-​market, producing two-​wheeled scooters that appealed to consumers of all ages looking for green alternatives for both recreational and commuting use. In the years that followed the company grew on its reputation for producing quality electric scooters and electric bikes at affordable prices.
