The Chatham Berry Farm LLC is a family-owned and operated farm and farm store. Founded in 1982 by Joseph Gilbert, the Berry Farm has been providing Columbia County and the surrounding areas with local, healthy and wholesome food for 33 years. Starting out as a tractor-pulled fruit stand, The Chatham Berry Farm has evolved over the years into a fully-functional, year-round vegetable and fruit farm (including greenhouses) and store. All of the vegetables and fruit grown at The Chatham Berry Farm are pesticide-free. Specializing in local, all-natural and organic products, the store carries produce and products from over 100 local vendors.

In 1982, Joseph Gilbert started The Chatham Berry Farm. What started out as a tractor pulled cart selling berries alongside the road, quickly grew into a thriving family business. At an early age, Joseph Gilbert was introduced to farming and gardening by his grandfather and father. Joseph Gilbert attended college in Pennsylvania & in 1980 he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Horticulture. While working as an assistant manager at an apple orchard in Connecticut, Joseph realized that he wanted to do more with his life so he purchased farm land in Chatham New York to begin his own farm. There is always something new at the farm, that’s what keeps it exciting. Changing seasons, changing crops, new construction projects, new obstacles, new business relations, new innovations in agricultural & green energy technology, every day challenges and victories keep things interesting. The promise of tomorrow. Constant change is what keeps everyone & everything at the farm going.
