As the ideal adjunct to any student’s regular classroom studies, Mathnasium provides one-​to-​one math tutoring and instruction for students in grades 2 through 12.

Mathnasium’s expert instructors teach and tutor a broad range of mathematics including elementary and middle school math, pre-​algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-​calculus, calculus and statistics.

Mathnasium also provides individualized test prep services for the SAT/​ACT and AP exams.

For Pre-​K to 1^st grade students, Mathnasium offers its «First Steps» program to encourage the development of «number sense» — the ability to think mathematically — by exploring concepts such as classification, ordering, numeration and measurement in a small group setting.

History

Established in 2008.

Mathnasium of Chatham, in Chatham Township, is located on Shunpike Road within the Chatham Mall across from Hickory Tree Plaza & Shop Rite.

Newly opened, Mathnasium of Summit is conveniently located nearby Summit’s train station and just up from the Summit Diner (same side of the street) at 86 Summit Avenue in the building’s lower level.

The Mathnasium Method is the life’s work of Larry Martinek, a teacher and math teaching consultant for the past 35 years. It’s the best there is: a time-​tested, personalized program, that employs diagnostics, instruction, worksheets, models/​manipulatives, and games to build «number sense», and with it, confidence and true understanding for a lifelong love of mathematics.

Meet the Business Owner

Jodi R.

Business Owner

Jodi owns and manages both Mathnasium of Chatham and Mathnasium of Summit. A graduate of the University of Minnesota where she earned her Masters Degree in Mathematics Education, Jodi is an experienced math teacher and tutor of many years.

As a dedicated teacher and mother of four, Jodi stresses the importance for students truly learn and understand mathematics including its underlying concepts rather than simply trying to memorize math steps, procedures and algorithms.

When asked what sets Mathnasium apart from so many other learning centers and private tutors, Jodi states that «our singular focus on mathematics employing expert teaching staff using our own excellent curriculum, coupled with our philosophy of teaching in a manner that makes sense to each student as an individual learner, makes us [Mathnasium] truly unique».
