History

Established in 1984.

Maps of Antiquity was moved by owners Bob Zaremba and Danielle Jeanloz to its current location at 1409 Main Street in Chatham in 2006. The new business included over 4,000 maps, a reproduction map business a framing business. There was little fanfare in opening the new location because of the constant activity and growth. Former customers found the new shop located in a restored 18th century farmhouse; new visitors stopped in to fine an unusual shop with unique products; decorators and businesses requested their services for walls of maps and the website business began to grow. Soon the owners hired local artist, Kathryn Halpern who now helps manage their operation.

In 2009, Maps of Antiquity acquired another significant map business. Amherst Antiquarian was sold after over 30 years in the business and included a fine collection of 17th & 18th century maps, over 8,000 antique maps and prints, training and an apprenticeship in map restoration, and more.
