Chatham Locksmith Store

The estimate I was given was ¹⁄₃ the price I ultimately got charged. I was not happy with the bait and switch since we had already waited for 30 minutes for the person to show up from jersey city even though I called the Chatham location. I was not told that the person would be arriving from far away and it would be so grossly overpriced for literally a 2-​minute job.

The organic produce is a joke. Horrible. I hate this grocery store but sometimes have to come here out of convenience. I think it’s dirty too. It’s really unbelievable to me that this store is still busy.

For being in such an affluent area you would expect this store to be of higher quality. I get that its a grocery store and not everyone (or anyone’s) idea of a dream job but the staff are so rude and make absolutely no attempt at making eye contact or even pretending to be friendly. And that only applies when you can find someone at a register to check out at. One time a young man told me my purchases were «annoying» him and then told the cashier next to him that he hated having to deal with customers. I have been here when the entire store has only two manned registers and it takes 20+ minutes to buy a gallon of milk.
On top of that the store is oddly organized. It is unusually difficult to find items because they are grouped strangely and usually you end up wandering from one end of the store to the other several times to get everything you need. Sometimes they will suddenly not carry something they used to and other times its like being in a product void. You simply cannot find some items at this store even though they exist elsewhere.
Several times I have found rotten produce for sale. I went to buy persimmons for a recipe and found a basket full of rotten, mushy ones. Bags of lettuce have green funk on the bottom of them as well. The baked goods are also awful! I purchased cookies made in the onsite bakery and they were so salty that I felt my blood pressure rise just trying to eat one. The last straw was buying a ShopRite brand margherita pizza only to take it home and discover it was covered in french fries and hot dog pieces. How does that even happen?
What boggles my mind is that the Shop Rite in Morristown is gorgeous and very well stocked with a wide variety of produce and other goods of really high quality. Even though this store is within walking distance of my house, I will absolutely not shop here any longer.

Convenient, well stocked and affordable. The staff is great!!! Prices are good, and they have some fantastic sales.

The reviews that say it is small, cramped, shelves much too high and cumbersome, and baked goods absolutely taste like newsprint (except for pudding cakes) are absolutely right. But the produce is not poor — in fact there is so much daily turnover it can’t help but be fresh. The smell of fish as you enter is very mild, if present at all. You do not HAVE to bag your groceries. Rather you do it to help keep everything moving out of consideration for others.
On the other hand, this is a high volume, intense, business in a small location whose prices are better than anywhere else in the greater Chatham atea. And it is far, far easier to navigate than the ugly, confusing, huge warehouse just opened in Morristown!

Coming from California, pretty much all of the grocery stores I have been to suck in New Jersey, but this store is the worst! Part of it is the building itself, the layout makes things super awkward and congested. The organization of the products makes me laugh every time I go in there. It makes no freaking sense at all. It’s like the manager gave his daughter or son a crayon and had him draw a store, and they did their best to follow it. There is no self checkout which is annoying.
The other part is the staff. They are never friendly or helpful. They barely say a word to you at the checkout line even if you try to talk to them. They don’t know where anything is in their own store.
I will say that the products carried is sufficient and they normally do have everything I am looking for (even if it takes me FOREVER to find it). Overall, this store is super disappointing. Especially given that it is in a very nice part of NJ.

This ShopRite is my go-​to grocery. Why you ask? Yeah, it’s on the small side and the layout is a bit awkward, but you get used to it, it’s clean, and they have the best prices in the area and give you useful coupons with your receipt. If you want them to upgrade and get bougie, the prices will go up, so that’s the tradeoff. I’ve seen this happen at the Union location. You don’t want that.
I’ve gotten fish and lobster here, and they were pretty fresh when I got them. I would however, buy your cilantro and similar items elsewhere, unless you intend on eating it all right away.
I was gong to give this place 3 stars until last night, I witnessed the cashier girl run outside and yelling for the lady who was in front of me who left her 8-​pack of paper towels she already paid for on the counter. The lady was already at her car loading the trunk, but the cashier girl spotted her through the window and ran out. That’s what I call customer service! She just earned this ShopRite a 4^th star!

OK so now that I became New Jersey house wife I gotta Unilocal grocery stores because guess what? The community has diverse needs.
Yeah and um in the short time that I have lived here I have been to a couple of shop rights. With that said this one is kept up nicely. Might not be Chatham quality, but trust me in comparison to the other shop rights… This is my favorite market. Staff is helpful and friendly, they are never too busy to find things for you, the lines move fast, and there is plenty of parking.
They offer a shop at home service, there are online coupons that can straight to your card, they have an organic vegetables section, fresh deli, and fresh seafood market. This is a good little spot. I was so happy there was a shop right so close to home. It’s like so much more reasonable price wise. I mean lets get real Madison/​Chatham area is not known for being economically friendly.

Worse Shop Rite I’ve ever been to… even worse than the Springfield and Watchung stores! Dingy looking, extremely cramped, horrible store layout that makes no sense, and the store manager is rude. If it wasn’t for some of their sale prices and the fact that I pass it daily, I would never walk into this store again.

I’ve always been pleased by the fish counter at ShopRite, and by their early championing of special dietary needs.
Recently, I decided to try their shop-​at-​home service and delivery.
I was a little reticent about ordering produce or fresh meat & fish. Then I discovered that my order was filled by a person who would call, with any questions, and who personally picked out produce to my specifications (e.g., 6 bananas: 3 yellow, 3 green).
The delivery person carries the groceries all the way to the kitchen.
Coupons can be used, and will be credited toward the next order.
I have been delighted with the shop-​at-​home service.
Caveat: there is a $ 15.95 delivery charge, so make sure your order is substantial enough for that not to be a deterrent.

I have always been pleased with this ShopRite. (The ShopRite on Morris Turnpike is a horror by comparison.) My one pet peeve is that their clientele just stand there and stare at their iphone whilst the poor sales person making hour wage has to pack all their groceries. Their employees are very hard working in a job that has to pay poorly. Stop staring at your phone and pack your own groceries. We would all get out of the store a lot quicker!!!

This ShopRite has been recently remodeled — and the layout is now even WORSE than it was before! Shelves went from normal supermarket shelves to warehouse-​style shelves. The problem is, the store is TOO SMALL for warehouse-​style shelves.
When you walk into this store, the first thing you are assaulted with is the smell of FISH. Guess what — the fish department shouldn’t smell like that! The fish appears to have been sitting for days, and the smell confirms it. I would NOT buy fish there. The only thing I would buy is LIVE Lobster, since as long as it is alive, it is still good.
The produce department is a joke. You can no longer see around the department because of the high shelves, and you now have to search for EVERYTHING.
Deli is OK — but what is with their slicing machines? Crooked slices whether they are thick or thin. They are more like half slices if you want something thin.
Bakery is unappetizing to say the least. The processed stuff in the packages is better than their «bakery fresh» stuff.
Don’t even ask me about their customer service. There is none. They have new signs on every register that says you can now get rainchecks at the register instead of waiting on a customer service line that takes forever.
However, when I asked the cashiers on TWO SEPARATE occasions for a raincheck, they said they can’t do it.
They are CONSTANTLY overcharging for sale items — and they make you wait an eternity to check a price. They don’t even make note of the pricing issue, so everyone who buys that item, is paying MORE than the advertised price. It is clear they don’t give a darn. (Half the time, the manager is standing right there, clearly ignoring what’s going on in HIS own store.)
Sadly, this is the cheapest supermarket in the area, which is why I am pretty much forced to shop there.
I wish I could afford to shop more often at Stop and Shop or Kings — they are MUCH nicer stores.

This shoprite is small and awkward. They recently changed the layout so I can’t find anything anymore and nothing makes sense together. Stationery next to the snacks???
The bakery section is also the worst of any Shop Rite I’ve been to and any other supermarket in the area. Nothing looks fresh or appetizing.

Ali of Rahway your nuts we have lived in chatham 22 years, the shop rite is where I do 97% of our shopping, but truth is stop & shop in madison has the best quality seafood dept. I’m a retired chef with over 35 years experience, so I know quailty, also shop-​rites produce is one one the worst, I just bought their TREE RIPENED? peaches & nectarines they are NOT Juicy or Sweet such low quality produce and they were 50 cents a pound more, the lack of juiciness just shows how long the product was stored, I vote shop-​rite worst Fruits ever, I’d take can fruit over shop-​rite frest fruit anyday, only reason I shop here is because we live right next door, but my fish, meat and produce I buy elsewhere

Good News Chatham Shoprite is being remodeled. Check out the new store. This may be a small store but far more superior then Stop and Shop in Madison. They are way to large with a lousy seafood and deli dept. The seafood and deli dept in Chatham are excellent. The seafood is fresh with daily delivery and those guys sure know there stuff. The managers of the store are also friendly. At times they are under staffed but you can only blame the owners on that. The prices beat wholefoods, Kings and Stop & shop. They are however lacking a proper Bakery Dept. The seafood Dept is best by far.

As previous reviewers have noted, this ShopRite location is one of the smaller and more cramped than other supermarkets and even other ShopRites, but that seems to be par for the course in this area (see ShopRite of Millburn and Springfield, which are just as if not more «cozy»)
The deli, meat, fish, bakery, and other sections are decent — nothing to either complain or be ecstatic about. The cashiers and customer service reps are pretty friendly, and they seem to know a lot of the regulars. And, the food prices — both on loss leaders and non-​sale items — are generally the cheapest amongst supermarkets in this area.

When I lived in Morristown, this is where I went to do my grocery shopping. This particular Shop Rite is also the smallest Shop Rite I have ever been to. There is a relatively big parking lot, so parking isn’t an issue. The issue begins when you enter the store. Like I said earlier, this place is incredibly small and the aisles are the smallest/​narrowest aisles you will ever see. It makes it incredibly difficult to do your grocery shopping. I think the deli is the strength of this Shop Rite.
I prefer going to Shop Rites because I think they have the best prices and there is usually one convenient to where I live, but they are usually the worst supermarkets from a set-​up standpoint. I guess I just deal with it to save some money. It’s a half decent supermarket but certainly nothing special.

This place needs help. The parking sucks. The store is jam packed and you have verry little room to move throughout the store. If they weren’t selling everything for so cheap, nobody would shop here. The best thing about this store is their fried chicken. My son and I love the fried chicken, we can eat it every day and be happy little campers.

OK This is where the large shop happens… this is the bang for the buck… this is where you go if you need to sort of watch how much you spend and can’t go to Whole Foods or Kings because you know that there is a lot of overpriced stuff in there. Let’s be real! What is the difference between the fish you get at Kings, Whole Foods and Shop Rite – the Price! Look at the prices of the fish and you will see that the same stuff –from the same fish farm, country, and inspected by the same people goes to all three places but the prices are about $ 3 – 7 dollars per pound different. Shop Rite even has it’s own organic section… The checkout people are unionized so they act professional… they been there for years and they are kind. It is easy to return items. No one gives you a hard time. Enough said.

To whom it may concern. After reading this review I had to comment and inform the readers out there that the Shoprite of Chatham is better then that. I have done my shopping here nearly 10 years now. As we all know Shoprite has the lowest prices. Coupons up to 99 cents are doubled. They have the largest Seafood selection in town. Fresh as can be. Delivered 7 days a week. The deli dept. is always packed. The bakery is small but maintained well. The Staff is friendly and personable. I guess some people expect Shoprite to be like the Short Hills mall. However if you visit the store you will find a large selection of all your daily needs. There are 2 Supermarkets closer to my home but I prefer to travel to the Chatham Shoprite for my groceries.

You would think that Chatham would have a nice, upscale grocery store. 1^st off, I passed by this place a few times without even knowing it was even there. 2ndly, when I did find it, it was a part of a strip mall but it looked nothing like a Shoprite (big signage, large exterior). Finally when I walked inside it was a like a basement grocery store. Bad selection, crammed, not clean from what I can see. I was very disappointed. I never expected anything like this in Chatham, let alone from Shoprite!
