History

Established in 2008.

Established in 2008

In 2008, we found a niche industry that needed a service-oriented facelift, so we set out to change the way you buy fabric and decorate your home.

Living in Richmond and being surrounded by a thriving art scene, magnificent historic homes, and a city who’s various tastes and personality are so individually unique we knew we were starting off in the perfect location.

We began with a vision of a fun and inspiring environment that offered exceptional customer service and professional services tailored uniquely to our customers. Through the years our vision has come to life in the most inspiring ways. Our team of fabric gurus, talented upholsterers and seamstresses are inspired every day by our customers tastes and ideas. We proudly bring those ideas and visions to life, and are thrilled with the results. You could even say we are making Virginia beautiful one yard at a time.

Meet the Manager

Travis H.

Manager

Travis is from a very small town in Rural Manitoba Canada. He moved Richmond in 2003 after being recruited to open and manage the EQ3 Modern furniture franchise in Richmond and Norfolk. Shortly before EQ3 closed it’s doors in 2008, Travis took his talents and knowledge of the Furniture business and started U-Fab with his former colleague and new business partner Mike. When U-Fab opened it’s doors the tiny front room was the entire space for fabric, while the back was the upholstery shop. Gradually over the years Travis was able to build up the quality inventory, fabulous staff, and dedicated customer following, making U-Fab what it is today. In 2009 Travis married his darling wife, Carley (while just opening the Charlottesville store) and in 2012 they welcomed their son, Richmond.
