Leah was amazing! Not only was she really great to talk to, she did an amazing job cutting my hair. She really listened to what I wanted, which was a nice change for me :) Certainly going back!

I visited Honeycomb for a haircut with Anna and had a great experience! She was friendly, easy to talk to, and most importantly, did a great job cutting and styling my hair! The space has a cool renovated urban vibe and the hair products they use are also great. Definitely would recommend, as good hairstylists can be hard to find in Cville.

After going nine months without a haircut, I reached my absolute breaking point and needed to get one fast! The Honeycomb came at the recommendation of both of my housemates who LOVE their stylists(Crystal and Bella), and I quickly checked online to see if I could squeeze an appointment in. The fact that the schedule was almost 100% booked 3 weeks out says enough about how awesome this place is — but, lucky me, Anna had an opening next day and I snagged it! She had a last minute cancellation, and I was incredibly thankful. Anna sat and talked with me about my hair for a good while before the wash, and gave me the no-judgment thumbs up that I had waited so long between haircuts. She really made sure she knew what I wanted before she cut, and gave me the best cut I’ve had in years! I have medium-fine straight hair, but a lot of it, and I appreciated that she didn’t want to thin it out a ton, as most stylists tend to want to do no matter my urging against it. It was a perk that Anna was super personable and lovely to talk to, and that the space up there is just so dang cool! I’ll definitely be back.

I saw Ashley for my super duper curly hair. She is a curl hair expert! She did an excellent job on my curls and gave me a much needed cut and style after not having had a haircut for over 6 months! She definitely understands how curly hair works. What I also found refreshing was that she didn’t immediately go for the blowout after the cut, she wanted to style it curly and even taught me a new technique. The conversation with her was also fun and therapeutic… which I find important in a hair stylist too! She also told me that all of the ladies at The Honeycomb understand curls, so I bet any of them would do a good job. You can view stylists, see their pricebook and book appointments thru too.

I just had my second haircut with Ashley, and love it as much as the first one. I have a ridiculous amount of hair and have always had a hard time finding people who know what to do with it. What I appreciate about Ashley is that I walked in, described — in probably annoyingly vague terms what I wanted — keep the length, lose a lot of the weight, clean it up, etc, and she looked at my hair, described what she thought would look good, got my feedback, made some adjustments, and voila– a great cut! She’s also very personable, interesting, and fun to talk with while she’s working. My mom has been going to the owner, Claibourne, for years and years and raves about her and the salon. The space itself is fun and interesting, and very comfortable. I highly recommend.

I’ve tried several salons in the area but this one is the best! The color/highlights stayed in without going orangey and the cut was awesome. Still looks good a month later if I do say so myself. The atmosphere is relaxed and the stylists will give their suggestions(which is great!) on what to do. Visionaries! Going back!

I had such a great cut with Crystal yesterday, and wanted to chime in with everyone saying what a great salon Honeycomb is. Their product line is super eco friendly, and the two products I bought(‘love’ curl cream and the leave-in volumizing conditioner) are some of the nicest I’ve had in a while. Love the ambiance, very welcoming and laid back, with really well curated décor for your eyes to wander over as you enjoy your appointment. Crystal is brilliant. She did a really thorough consultation, asked a bunch of questions to make sure we were in the same page, and would pause our conversation occasionally to check in. Love the cut and will definitely go back. They validate parking/give yourself extra, extra time to find a spot. I had no idea downtown was this crazy on a weekday! If you’re new to town or are looking for a new stylist, check them out, for sure.

I am in love with Ashley at The Honeycomb! I truly cannot recall who delivered my three kids, but I can tell you who gave me the few phenomenal haircuts I have had in my life. Ashley is on that list! I have frizzy, wavy, hard hair — and lots of it. Yet, Ashley was able to cut my hair in a way that makes me feel like it is super light and easy to manage. Actually, she has made my hair super light and easy to manage. The rate is very reasonable and I am impressed beyond words.

I had my hair cut and colored by Ashley yesterday and she did an amazing job. So friendly and sweet. She did a great job with the color and really listened to what I wanted. I wanted to keep my length so I can grow it out, but get rid of the dry ends. She gave me some beautiful long layers – looks almost the same length but feels way softer and lighter. And the dead weight is gone. She even looked up salons that use the same line of products in the city where I’m moving, which was very helpful

I took a long time when I moved to Charlottesville(for graduate school) to choose a salon, because I have thick, curly hair and a bad haircut leaves me looking like a poodle… especially in the C’Ville humidity! I asked everyone I knew who had curly hair where they went, and it seemed that almost everyone went«back home» in fear of bad curly cuts. Eventually, a friend told me that her room-mate swore by The Honeycomb and Bella, the resident curly expert. Initially I was a bit afraid of the $ 50 pre-tip price, but this is definitely a «you get what you pay for» experience! First of all, the salon itself is fantastic. I knew as soon as I saw the resident dog, Clyde, that I was in a friendly environment. The décor is also seriously cool with an airy, modern vintage feel. The ladies also all have amazing tattoos… and even better hair. Bella is definitely the most experienced person who has ever cut my hair. She took the time to analyze my curls before she washed them and then we planned the cut. She was exceptionally dedicated to making sure that I was okay with each step of the cut and explained to me what she was doing not only with her scissors but also with products and the diffuser, which apparently I had been using all wrong! In addition to Bella’s excellence, I also have to attest to the amazing product line they just started carrying: Davines. I had long been looking for an eco-friendly product line that also could manage my mane without giving it the«hippie» look, and this Italian, highly-sustainable brand was just the thing I needed. It smells amazing and leaves my hair soft, shiny, and set for a Virginia summer. I left after my cut with a few samples, but I soon returned(after some budgeting– these products are pricey but also very worth it) to buy the suite of curl-friendly products. All told, I have the best hair I think I’ve ever had and I look forward to returning in three months to see Bella and the salon again!

I have literally never had a better haircut or a better haircut experience! The atmosphere at The Honeycomb is so friendly, beautiful and simple, with great music and an adorable dog. Booking my appointment online was so easy too! I went in with no idea what kind of haircut I needed, and walked out with the most flattering, fun hairstyle I’ve ever had! Bella is super experienced, really friendly, and just generally wonderful. I’ll definitely be going back for my next haircut — and highly recommend anyone looking do so too! Thank you, Bella!

I had a haircut/trim appointment with Anna, the junior hair stylist at The Honeycomb. She was great and lots of fun and listened to all of my requests about my hair. My haircut turned out great and she was really patient. I really recommend her! Her rate is about half compared to the other stylists there but she is just as skilled. Bang trims are also free at this salon and you can schedule them a few weeks after you get your initial cut. Will be coming back soon, thanks!

It took me 1.5 years to find an amazing hair salon in Charlottesville. I have only been with Bella and she is amazing! The atmosphere is light and personal. Bella is great with all hair types but if you have curly hair she performs miracles. Highly recommend.

I love the Honeycomb. I love Bella. I have never, really, had a single stylist that I went back to regularly, but then, I have never before had a haircut I loved this much. Most of the reviews you’ll read are based of Claiborne’s continually winning best of C’ville again and again(and the people I know who go to her love her so it apparently a well deserved win) but I’m glad to see that Unilocalers are also pointing out how very awesome Bella and her cuts are. Also: there are almost always dogs in the salon, which is really the sign of a place you want to hang out. Go now, go often.

I am a very pick person when it comes to getting my hair cut but was in desperate in of one. I was just visiting the Charlottesville area and found Honeycomb online. I booked an appointment on their online booking which was extremely convenient and easy. I was hesitant at first but I booked with Bella and I was blow away at the results. Bella gave me one of the best haircuts I have had in a long time. She was knowledgeable and took the time to make sure my cut was balanced and precise! She was friendly and made my visit memorable. I recommend Bella to anyone!

I just moved to the area from DC and found Honeycomb through«best of c’ville.» I was thrilled with Claiborne as a stylist. She had great ideas and really listened to my thoughts. I color my hair(blonde highlights), so I’m picky about finding someone who can balance bright color with a non-streaky, natural look. She incorporated some of her own ideas and really nailed it. I haven’t been this happy with my color in a while. The place itself is also adorable and the staff was very personable.

I’m pretty picky about who cuts my hair, since I love having my hair long and it seems like every hair stylist I meet thinks that short is the way to go. But after having at least four other people personally recommend The Honeycomb, I knew that I had to try it out. First, scheduling an appointment was so easy. Obviously, you can call and set something up. Or you can visit their page on Schedulicity( ) and pick a date, time, and hair stylist that suits your schedule. Since everyone who had recommended The Honeycomb had personally recommended Claibourne, I went with her and was very pleased. She did a great job of listening to what I wanted, making sure that we were both on the same page, offering recommendations when I was unsure about something, and checking throughout the haircut to make sure everything was on track. She also checked a few times at the end of the haircut to make sure I was happy with the final product. All-in-all, I was very pleased with her work. Update: The last time I went, for a pre-graduation haircut, Crystal cut my hair and was also fantastic: she listened well, kept me updated throughout the haircut, and asked for feedback to make sure we were on the same page. Everyone at The Honeycomb is very personable and welcoming. They also just moved into a new location which is super cute with high ceilings and exposed brick walls. They have a cute little waiting area now with couches next to the check-out desk and what looks like 4 hair-cutting stations. The entrance to the new location is right off the downtown mall. Although they’re talking about trying to get a sign put up outside, there’s currently no indicator that you’re in the right place until you go in the door and walk up the stairs(Suite 104). They also offer gift cards! I would definitely recommend The Honeycomb. $ 50 for a women’s haircut is not a bad price to pay, especially with such thoughtful, personable, and competent hair stylists!
