Specialties
I work with patients to get to the root cause (s) of their health complaint; people often have important information and instincts about their bodies that help me solve the problem they are experiencing. Often there is an old injury or illness still making trouble, even in a different area of the body. Once it is treated, the body can do the rest of the healing on its own. I welcome patients input in the process. My specialties are in the following ares:
Back pain, sciatica, shoulder pain, neck pain (other musculoskeletal pain), migraines, headaches, insomnia, menopause, fibromyalgia, skin problems, whiplash and other accident trauma, post-surgical recovery, chronic fatigue
I have been in practice since 1999, and located in Charlottesville since 2002.
History
Established in 2002.
After I completed my Master’s Degree in Oriental Medicine (with certification in Chinese Bodywork) in Albuquerque, NM in 1999, I went to Tuscon, AZ and did an internship with Vince Black of the Four Winds Clinic, a master martial artist and practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The experience I gained their put me in a good position to handle the cases I treated at Acupuncture Associates of Annapolis, a holistic medical practice owned by Margaret Mullins, MD.
I was at Dr. Mullins’ clinic from 2000 – 2002, and then moved to Charlottesville to start my own clinic, originally called Blue Ridge Oriental Medicine. I was located downtown for several years, and then moved to Sachem Village in order to provide handicapped accessible parking for my patients.
Meet the Business Owner
Robert C.
Business Owner
Raised in Northern Virginia, Robert Clickner originally planned to work in early childhood and elementary education, but somewhere in college (Virginia Tech) realized it was not for him.
He moved out to New Mexico where there is a strong interest in acupuncture, and ended up enrolling in acupuncture school while working in a food co-op to pay the bills. After three years of acupuncture school, Robert felt the need to supplement his education with training in western osteopathic techniques, and was fortunate enough to find teachers in these methods at his internship and first job. He found these techniques work very well in concert with Chinese Medicine.
A love for Virginia brought Robert and his family to Charlottesville, where he established his own acupuncture practice in 2002. Robert is married with two children, two dogs and a cat.
