Established in 2014.
Public Fish and Oyster was the lifelong dream of Owner Daniel Kaufman. After years in the hospitality business, he was able to realize his dream to bring fresh seafood, a comprehensive beverage selection and true southern hospitality to the Charlottesville community.

After many years in the hospitality business, I opened Public Fish and Oyster in Charlottesville Virginia in February of 2014. With a talented culinary team and a staff of true hospitality professionals, we found success and business grew month after month. Just shy of two years later, we opened Public West Pub and Oyster Bar in neighboring Crozet Virginia.
