History

Established in 2006.

McGrady’s was established by Lehigh University graduates, Scott Roth and JD Pfile, in 2006. A spin-off of a college favorite, J.P. MacGrady’s in Bethlehem, PA, Scott and JD worked hard to make Charlottesville’s McGrady’s a true pub atmosphere. (Pub — means public house, a gathering place for friends, family and the community) At McGrady’s we combine great pub food, competitive pricing and a large beer selection with the feel of a neighborhood public house that we all love!

Meet the Business Owner

Scott R.

Business Owner

Scott is a Pennsylvania native and started in the restaurant business at the age of 15. Upon turning 18 he became a bartender at a multitude of different locations while also attending Lehigh University. His senior year he took on a position with JP MacGrady’s pub in Bethlehem, PA and quickly moved into a managerial role. Upon graduating from Lehigh with high honors Scott met his future wife Kristin who ultimately convinced him to give owning his own pub a shot. After finding the wonderful town of Charlottesville (and a bar already for sale) the two took a leap of faith, wrapped an old college roommate, JD Pfile, into the deal and McGrady’s Irish Pub was born.
