Lucky Seven

Today I had a business lunch on the Mall. I declined dessert but after we went our separate ways I decided I needed sugar after all. I recalled a nearby convenience store and set out in that direction.
So I gave in and surrendered $ 2 to Lucky 7 for 2 Crunch bars which were only mildly satisfying. The manager was yelling at the cashier, accusing her of stealing cigarettes. The cashier was yelling back and blaming another (not present) cashier. The inside of my Crunch wrappers advertised sweepstakes that ended in December 07 (a year ago). Around the corner of the shelf from the Crunch bars were three-​packs of condoms. And it wasn’t even a truck stop!
My wise friend Lisa S. was right, I should have avoided it. I think she told me she went once and there was some kind of drug stakeout going on. But I didn’t feel like walking back to the CVS, it was in the opposite direction. Next time I will know better.
