Tutoring works best when it’s customized to each student’s unique needs and goals. Instead of employing a one-​size-​fits-​all approach, we rely on our experience in the community to deliver instruction that aligns with the challenges faced by local students. Using this approach, we’ve helped thousands of families in the Charlottesville area achieve their academic goals over the past several years!

Academic Tutoring

Whether a student is struggling with the basics or aiming for straight A’s, private tutoring from GLC can help him/​her boost grades, build confidence, and develop lifelong academic skills. Academic support is available through the AP level for Math, Science, Foreign Languages, English, History, and more. No contract required.

SAT Success Classes

Our SAT program is proven to get results, with our students boosting their scores by an average of 260 points. Each SAT Class includes 28 hours of face-​to-​face instruction, 14 hours of personalized help, 3 full-​length practice tests, and a worry-​free retake guarantee.

Private Test Prep

For students with busy schedules, private test prep can be an efficient and effective way to achieve excellent scores on tests like the SAT, ACT, PSAT, and more. We develop a customized prep plan based on each student’s strengths, weaknesses, and goals so he/​she can achieve the scores needed to get into great colleges and universities.

History

Established in 1998.

Over the past 16 years, Georgetown Learning Centers has become an educational leader in the state of Virginia. For many families, our tutoring centers in Great Falls, McLean, and Charlottesville are a key part of their children’s education. While we offer a broad range of services – one-​on-​one tutoring, SAT prep, review classes, and study lounges – our goal is always the same: confident students who have the tools to succeed in any academic setting.

We believe that education should be a team effort. At GLC, we know our students benefit from the cooperation among parents, teachers, and our instructors. As a locally owned and operated company, we know the curricula of area schools and understand what is expected of our students in the classroom. We also match each student with a tutor who understands his/​her unique needs and learning style, laying the foundation for sustainable academic success.

Meet the Manager

Annie B.

Manager

A Boston native and University of Pennsylvania alumna, Annie has been with Georgetown Learning Centers from the very beginning in 1998. Under her leadership, GLC has grown into a local leader for academic support and test prep, helping thousands of students in Northern Virginia and Charlottesville become better, more confident learners.

Each school year, Annie communicates with local families to make sure we’re meeting their unique academic needs. She also hosts regular Parent Nights and other presentations on important topics like the college essay and making the right SAT and ACT testing choices.

Annie and her husband Eric are the proud parents of three wonderful boys, who make sure that there is never a dull moment. As GLC’s original employee, Annie has seen the SAT change, the ACT grow in popularity, and former GLC students become star GLC tutors after excelling at top colleges across the country.
