Foxfield Inn is a contemporary bed & breakfast inn located in scenic Charlottesville, VA. If you are looking for a place to relax and get away then we are for you. We provide a rejuvenating environment just minutes from wineries, downtown Charlottesville, University of Virginia and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Our five guestrooms offer a quiet oasis for you to relax and forget about your daily life. If you are looking for a romantic getaway stay in one of our deluxe rooms — two with king beds and two with queens. All four of them have fireplaces in the bedchambers and deep Jacuzzi tubs in the bathroom.

Of course you can spend some time in the outdoor hot tub enjoying the night sky and gazing at stars.

Established in 1997.

Foxfield Inn is located in one of Charlottesville’s most picturesque country settings near Foxfield steeplechase track, yet only minutes from downtown Charlottesville.

The discriminating B&B Inn-​goers and newcomers alike will find the experiences and romance of a country inn at Foxfield Inn, from sipping fine Virginia wines upon your arrival to relaxing in our soothing hot tub and in-​room Jacuzzis.

The Inn is smoke-​free and pet-​free environment in all guest areas. The entire Inn is on one floor. All areas are air conditioned.

Welcome to Foxfield Inn. We hope you enjoy your stay. Dan and Kathryn offer personal service and attention to make your stay at Foxfield Inn enjoyable and memorable.

Dan’s work as a fine arts photographer can be seen throughout the inn. He will commemorate your visit with portraiture if you desire. Dan worked at Kodak for 19 years before striking out on his own in photography. His corporate life began in quality control and product development engineering for biomedical films and ended in R&D product management for medical research films.

Kathryn brings her years of experience with the food industry to bear in the kitchen. She spent 21 years working at Cadbury Schweppes where she worked with divisions around the world improving the way the R&D and manufacturing teams operated. Your stay will be enhanced by the fine treats and breakfast delights she whips up.

the best spontaneous decision! It’s a great spot for a respite and we loved being here for a few days and found ourselves set for an easy adventure to wineries, walks and great food. We walked in the door and immediately felt welcome and our room was perfect. We didn’t know what to expect for the food and they blew us away. Gourmet three course breakfasts, chocolate chip cookies to snack on and we added on a picnic lunch that just hit every note! We can’t wait to come back.

Our whole experience was simply lovely. The grounds, our room, the hosts and especially the breakfast — all perfect for a getaway. It’s also extremely convenient to all of Charlottesville and the surrounding areas, yet you feel like your truly having a Blue Ridge country experience. Highly recommended!

The Foxfield Inn is the finest B&B I have ever visited. The accommodations were perfection – soft linens, spacious rooms and gas fireplace. There were several beautiful rooms to relax in with our travel companions. Our hosts, Kathryn and Dan were beyond gracious and always sensitive to our needs. They presented us with an amazing charcuterie platter at the last minute when we decided not to venture out for dinner. Kathryn’s cooking was delicious! Three course breakfasts with plenty of protein and sweet delicacies. We will return next year in the spring or fall. Thank you, Kathryn and Dan for a wonderful visit!

Day 1: We are in the Garden Room. While the room is a bit small, it is beautiful and I love the view you get while lying on the bed: It’s a large bay window that looks into the trees and garden area… The birds come visit the feeder just outside so it’s like watching an ever changing picture. Impressed by the absolute cleanliness of the place –not a speck of dust anywhere– and the attention given to making everything as comfortable as possible for their guests. Fresh cut flowers in the room… wine in a glass magically appears… A bed with such luxurious sheets and pillows. Two-​person jetted tub with wonderful scented bath salts… Right now I am in heaven. Can’t wait to try breakfast tomorrow.

We celebrated our 35th anniversary there in June and it was fabulous! The breakfasts were great, the amenities first-​rate, our room and furnishings top of the line. We bundled in a wonderful dinner at the Ivy Room (the foie gras is to die for!), champagne and cake in our room, and beautiful dozen roses still going strong over a week later. Dan & Kathryn are consummate hosts. Our ONLY regret was not fitting in time for the outdoor hot tub, so we will have to go back.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Foxfield Inn! When we arrived at the Inn, the Inn keepers (Dan & Kathryn) welcomed us by our names. They asked us if we wanted a glass of wine, and gave us a tour of the house. The Inn is very clean, quiet, and peaceful. We stayed in the Audubon Room. I loved the little bird decorations throughout this room! Its a very romantic room! The room is very spacious and features a lovely fire place, a canopy bed, a bay window, and a spacious two person Jacuzzi bathtub. We also took advantage of the spacious hot tub outside the inn! Also, the breakfast at Foxfield Inn was prepared beautifully every morning. The breakfast is a 3 course meal. My favorite breakfast meal during my stay was: coconut muffins with fruit, waffles with homemade pork sausage, and then a homemade pistachio vanilla ice cream for dessert. There is also delicious home made cookies, coffee, and soft-​drinks provided in the communal kitchen at all times. There are also plenty of things to do around the inn. The inn is relatively close to the Downtown Mall which has plenty of delicious restaurants to dine at and unique stores to visit. The Inn is also nearby wineries and the Shenandoah Valley if you are a nature person. I definitely recommend this Inn for a nice little getaway.

Wonderful place. Wish we could have stayed more than 2 nights, but we relaxed and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. We were in the Dogwood room and loved it. Kathryn even told me how I can order the sheets (so comfy!) She and Dan do a great job, and the breakfast is to die for.

Foxfield Inn was wonderful. We really enjoyed the location and the Inn itself was beautiful. We stayed in the garden room which overlooked the back yard and it was very peaceful. Dan and Kathryn, who run the place, are great and are always ensuring that your stay is excellent. They even post the breakfast the night before with alternatives if you want something different. They truly thought of everything you might need and it is there.

I highly recommend the Foxfield Inn! My husband and I just spent our 10th anniversary there. I usually don’t like spending that much money on lodging, but it was well worth the money we spent. As other people have said, there is free wine and cheese served at 5 pm everyday, a hot tub in the backyard, and sits in a lovely location. Most of the rooms are decked out with gas fireplaces and in-​room Jacuzzi tubs and are neat and clean. Kathryn and Dan were wonderful hosts and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and luxurious. I am on a very limited diet right now and Kathryn still accommodated my diet at the yummy 3-​course breakfast. She cooked 3 different types of breakfast for the 10 people staying there — a regular diet, a gluten-​free diet and a non-​dairy, non-​gluten, vegetarian diet for me. In the afternoon incredible homemade cookies show up and she accommodated the gluten-​free guests with scrumptious gluten-​free cookies! Beverages are always available.
It is the best B&B in the area. In the morning over breakfast we were chatting with other people who were staying there. It was fun meeting people from all over and getting their opinion of what to see in the area. One couple has traveled to Charlottesville many times and has stayed at different places. They said this is the best B&B in the area. I believe it! I know we have no interest in staying anywhere else!
I appreciate Dan and Kathryn for making our anniversary celebration a very special one!

Excellent B&B.
Quiet location about 15 – 20 minutes from downtown Charlottesville and Monticello. There’s only five guest rooms in the building, each of which is fairly similar with a nice 2 person whirlpool tub and a gas fireplace.
A common kitchenette provides water, soda, coffee, tea, and ridiculously good freshly baked cookies.
Dan and Kathryn are great hosts. They give you plenty of space, but it’s easy to reach them if you need something. Lots of attention to detail. The rooms are spotless with a bottle of wine waiting for you. Breakfast at the communal table is a fun time. You get to learn a little about the other guests while enjoying a 3 course start to the day that puts most restaurants to shame.
Free wifi signal is a little weak, but you should be out enjoying the town anyway. I’d definitely recommend Foxfield.

We celebrated our 23d wedding anniversary and chose the Foxfield Inn. We were not disappointed in the least. Dan and Kathy were most gracious and accommodating. We enjoyed the morning breakfasts and 5 pm wine and cheeses. One dinner at the Ivy Inn was included with our package and it was first class all the way. What made the stay most memorable was the fun we had talking and having meals with the other guests.

Stayed here towards the end of the summer when Dave and Tim were in town. Great little place if you can afford it. The hosts were great, very hospitable and went above and beyond. My wife was sick (we found out later it was onset on pneumonia) so we had to skidaddle a little early missing out on the second days breakfast. If you enjoy B&B s then this is an ideal place for you.

My husband and I recently stayed here for our 10 year anniversary and it was SO GREAT! Dan and Kathy were so friendly but not in an «in your face» kind of way. We felt as if we were guests in their beautiful home but still had the privacy of a traditional hotel. We arrived early– not expecting our room to be ready yet– but it just so happened to be ready anyway. We stayed in the Rose Room– aptly named for its pretty rose accented décor. After dinner in the city, we took advantage of the robes and slippers provided and walked out to the hot tub for a relaxing nightcap under the stars.
Breakfast was quite easily the best breakfast I’ve ever had. She served small portions of each course but there was plenty of food to be fulfilled. This was my first experience with a bed and breakfast so I was unprepared for the lack of choice in the meal, but I’m actually glad in the end because I would have missed out on the interesting and delightful new flavors. We dined with another traveling couple from overseas and had a nice conversation indeed.
If we head to Charlottsville again, we will certainly check for availability in this B&B!

What can I say. 5+ stars easily. This place was fantastic. If you’re staying in the area and not here, you are doing yourself a disservice not staying here.
I am kind of a cheapo so the price at first (we booked online) set me back. But when we showed up I felt that right away we had made the right choice. Katherine and Dan were so accommodating once we showed up to when we left. And the price just includes so much more than what you would be getting anywhere else that it turns out to be a great deal.
We stayed in the Garden Room, so had a view of the back yard which is really something. The room was big and very clean with a fireplace, fairly big bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, and enough space to relax.
Everyday we enjoyed complimentary cookies, wine, sodas, and bottled water. And the morning breakfast was just to die for.
The only regret we can come up with is that we should have signed up for the dinner package because Katherine’s cooking is just great.
When we visit again, this is definitely the first place we will look at for availability.

This place is incredible. We were pretty torn about where to spend the night and we settled on the Foxfield even though it was a little expensive ($ 225 a night.) It was completely worth it. The proprietors, Katherine and Dan, are sweet as pie. We stayed in the Rose Room which had a beautiful 4-​poster bed, fireplace and a double jacuzzi bathtub that was about 7 feet deep. They also have these amazing homemade chocolate chip cookies, wine on arrival, an amazing breakfast, a hot tub in the back and so many other wonderful, thoughtful things. The only drawback was that it was a little noisy in our room because it was right by the front door (and the cookies.) Otherwise, it is very romantic and only about 10 minutes from Charlottesville.
