Express Car Wash

Customers come last here now, which is the reverse of what it was when this was Express Car Wash. Now the one who checks you in and writes up the ticket is also the one who washes sidewalls and vacuums the vehicle. While that happens, no one gets checked in and the line doesn’t move. Today the driver ahead of me had a coupon of some kind that Mr. Sidewall didn’t understand, so he walked away to confer with someone. That someone was on the finishing line wiping down cars. After several minutes of their conference, when there was no body English indicating they were coming to an end, I drove away, never to return until the next change of ownership. Maybe some customers don’t mind coming last, but I do.

Overall it was alright. There was one spot on the outside of my car that clearly was overlooked. I got the package including cleaning of the cup holders and they were not. I think they mean to do it well but feel rushed by either management or customers. While it was fast, they could’ve spent more time on the details and I would’ve been totally fine with that.
I’ll seek other options but it seems like this is the lesser of two evils in Charlottesville.

OMG! This is the worst POS ever. I used to go into Express and was out with a reasonable clean car in 25 minutes. Tried «White Horse» out today and only two words can describe it… «it sucks». I ordered the «Gallant Fox» which says that the car will be towel dried. Nope, not even close. Bumpers were still dusty, windows not whipped. One guy wiped down one SIDE of my car. Then I was told to get into a line for my interior work. OK, so I’ll wait and see if it gets better. 25 minutes later this interior, or any further «towel drying» of my car still hadn’t been started… and there were TWO guys working on the car in front of me!!! TWO! Top it all off, two cars came in behind me and were started before mine. I was so disgusted I pulled my car out of line and gave the cashier my ticket back and said that I won’t be back. Top it all off, this guys have a tip box! This is a sorry replacement for Express and a total waste of money.

Horrible. The new White Horse auto wash is undetailed, slower than molasses going uphill on a cold winters day, and has a total disregard for removing dirt.
«There is dirt on my car still,» I say to the kid.
«Yeah, my manager charges extra to get that. Maybe $ 20 or so?»
Ooooooh, I thought I was at the car wash. Avoid if you can and don’t imagine express is any better with this new owner.
I got the secretariat, which is the second from the top of services. I can’t imagine what basic gets you. Maybe two spits and a vacuum.

Only gave it a star because I couldn’t give it less. They did refund my money so I maybe that’s worth a star

My bad: I spend moretime in my car than anywhere else. I frequently eat in my car and have had various takeout container skills.
I live out of town and it’s a Sunday of a holiday weekend and the weather is perfect. Nevertheless I elected to put the time in to emptying my car, driving to town and getting my usual «the works «package. I was told by one person it would be an hour wait and another an he and a half. No problem — this is what I gave up my day to get done.
The car went through the wash line (may have done something before this) and sat in the cleaning line for about fifteen minutes. At that time a young man told me my car was too dirty for them to do now and I needed to make an appt with the detail person who doesn’t work on Sunday’s — I put up a huge fuss as I’d wasted half a day between unloading, driving to town and the half hr or so wait I did there. He went to manager who didn’t show his face, who said they could work on it for a half hr, no more.
I drove to another facility who was happy to do the work (for admittedly double plus the price) I will report on them when they are finished

In summary– don’t go here if your car is too dirty or at least have them look at it ahead of time to see if it falls in their definition of the works. I will never return

Maybe this is a good car wash for Charlottesville? I’m just basing the standard off of what I am capable doing by myself as a detail-​oriented person. Maybe I expect too much that a professional car washer would be able to do a better job than I?
Extremely disappointed regarding the $ 60 I spent for a deluxe «top quality» (vs. the «economic quality») package. (Sorry about the generalization which happens to be true 99% of the time but) Young men just do not have the attention to detail required to actually clean a car. The outside of my car did not look especially shiny — I was assuming it would be waxed in the $ 60 package. So just FYI, it’s not. There was lots of dirt still under the seats (esp. near the sliding «tracks» of the front seats) and the trunk did not look it had been vacuumed at all — debris, sand, pennies. Lots of dust and crumbs still in the cup holders. I DO NOT OWN A FANCY VACUUM — that is why I take it to get «professionally» done. Corners of the window interiors did not get cleaned. And it was definitely not towel dried because there were traces of water blobs all over the windshield. The hubcaps were not washed all the way, there was still dirt about an inch away from the grooves up through the grooves.
This was my bad but I should not have done the Deluxe package — at most get «The Works» because I was expecting that they would maybe wipe down/​CLEAN the seats before they put the vinyl/​rubber protectant on. Do not expect that. Buy your own bottle of rubber protectant so you can spray it on yourself for less than the increase of the price of the package.
Cleaner asked me to fill out the quality control card inside the office before I actually saw the car.
Wi-​fi was good.
Receptionist was very nice. Cleaner was nice to the point that I feel bad writing this review but the World Has To Know.
Sorry to the owner/​manager who I see has replied to people asking them to notify the office first — I just couldn’t do it because people were so nice there. I nicely asked the cleaner to do 3 additional blatant things that had been missed and that was all I could handle. It breaks my heart to write this because he seemed like a good kid. I’m a student though and can’t afford to spend money on things that are not worth it, and other people are in the same situation and they need to know. Sorry!

Do it yourself, it’s just not worth the money.
I went here twice: the first time the interior was barely cleaned (my car was two weeks out of the dealership and I still noticed where they missed things), so I filled out a qc card and they gave me a coupon for a free wash. I went back and it was worst than the first time.
Service wasn’t great either.

The service was terrible. I chose the $ 40ish package. Everything was not cleaned at all. There are still leaves all over my car and the inside was not vacuumed properly. I had to spent another hour waiting for them to clean again and the result was still terrible.

I made an appointment and watched my vehicle sit in the lot for a half an hour untouched. Then when someone finally got to it he opened the door and shook his head and said f*#&. I drive a jeep. It gets dirty. Absolutely unprofessional. I will never be back.

Express Car Wash lured us in with the relatively inexpensive gas, and while we were there we said why not give the ride a quick wash. (We fell hook, line, and sinker.)
Unfortunately, they did not have any air to fill tires or else I would have given a 4-​star rating.

I ordered The Works (thorough interior & exterior wash)
very thorough cleaning and was finished w/​in the estimated wait time.
It didn’t rain afterwards, but the 3day rain guarantee is pretty cool, too.

Close to $ 50 later and the interior windows were left streaky. Unacceptable. A manager was overheard berating his employees. Apparently not an effective strategy. A most unpleasant experience, and I will not return.

They took a lot of time to do a detailed job. They have good WIFI also, so I was able to get some work done while waiting.

I paid $ 43 for a car wash that was worse than what I could have gotten from a cheerleader fund raiser. They didn’t remove the blemishes on the outside, the inside was not vacuumed properly and they didn’t do the tires. It took over an hour during what the cashier informed me was a slow time. Don’t be fooled by their cheap gas either. «It may contain up the 10% ethanol» according to the pumps, which will destroy your engine. I could have gotten for $ 18, in 20 minutes at the place I usually go to in California. Save you money and pay a neighborhood teenager to clean your car.

One January morning, I woke up to my car covered in bird crap. How that happened in the middle of winter, I will never know. I guess that’s Virginia for you!
Anyways, wanting to get the bird crap taking care of ASAP, I read some reviews and went to Express Carwash (i.e., the only carwash in Charlottesville that has moderately decent reviews).
All in all, the car wash was good and it removed all the bird crap from my car, which is just what I wanted. However, I’m used to paying $ 10 for an excellent car wash, so $ 20 at Express Carwash is a bit steep in my book.
In sum, decent but expensive.

First time I took my sedan through and it was excellent. Second visit took my suv and it was awful. Not at all the same level of detail. I won’t spend 23 dollars and have to vacuum and reclean my vehicle.

First experience was excellent. Second visit was horrible. Not worth $ 23. Total waste of money.

Sometimes they do a okay job. Sometimes they do a poor job. Last wash they forgot to vacuum the seats and clean the mud on the door edges despite paying extra for the better service.

Decent job, better than most. A little spendy.
Employees take their time drying and cleaning your car which is good unless you’re in a rush. Workers get tipped based on return surveys.
