Courtyard Charlottesville North

Pretty standard Mariott, nothing too fancy but good for the price. Nice lobby area, friendly service at the bar. Wifi is a little slow but manageable as long as you’re not downloading anything. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable.

This is a nice hotel, particularly for the price I found on
. It has been renovated, but parts of the «old» hotel show through, so it’s not as glamorous as other Marriotts.
Our room was very clean and well stocked. As another reviewer said, there is no fan in the bathroom. The TV does not have Netflix connectivity and is not compatible with Chromecast. The pool area in general could have been cleaner in general.
Charlie checked us in at the front desk and brought us a complimentary toiletry when we realized we left something at home. She was very friendly!

Skip this Marriott. The «free Wifi» was SO SLOW that is was really useless. It might as well be non-​existent. How long can you wait for a web page to load? I gave up and turned off Wifi… and found that my 3G cellphone seemed blazingly fast in comparison. When I called the front desk about this, they said I should buy the paid Wifi ($ 5/​day). No clearer example of bait-​and-​switch exists anywhere.
There’s no fan in the shower/​toilet room, and no waste basket. No prices on the items in the lobby shop.
On the good side: The beds were comfortable. The person at the front desk had a nice smile.
How can Marriott allow its name to be used by this place?

I’ve stayed at this Marriott several times and I will admit as a Marriott Rewards member, I love the perks (clean room, friendly staff, incredibly comfortable bed etc.) but I have to say the layout of this hotel is HORRIBLE. You can’t just walk up, check in and go to your room. You have to check in, go back to your car and drive around the property (which is kind of rectangular) hoping you arrive at the right door to get to your room. The property is on a hillside so there is no way to tell if you are on the basement level or the first level (property has three floors… basement, 1^st and second). This is incredibly exhausting if you have been driving for hours. My advice, figure out where the pool is (which is kind of in the middle on the first floor) and walk to the left and around the corner to the right for the elevator.
On the plus side… they have Starbucks coffee and the breakfast is free and FRESH. Not your average smörgåsbord fare, they really make you breakfast. Once, they accidentally gave my breakfast to someone else (the guy was a jerk he just ate it and when his actual breakfast came he was like ohhh yeah I guess I did order the french toast with a giggle after he scarfed down my scrambled egg whites). They made me a new one in less than 5 minutes with the most sincerest of apologies — the food is GOOD too. They also have a selection of light dinner items, snacks, wine and beer. In the room, you get a fridge and a microwave which is convenient if you prefer to grab something from Fresh Market and just heat it up.
The bed is VERY comfortable, there is a desk and plenty of electrical outlets around the room. Paul Mitchell shampoo/​conditioner body lotion in the bathroom. Coffee maker in the room, nice big TV with a good selection of channels. Free WIFI is available for multiple devices too.
Even though I hate the layout– I keep coming back for the good location (behind the fashion square mall) and the exceptional service.

Booking was easy. The staff was attentive and nice during our stay. Our room was clean, modern, and quiet. The water pressure was good, and the bathroom was in good shape. They gave us free cookies! The lobby and dining area was modern and nice. What more do you want for $ 150 a night?

Clean quiet peaceful area and the usual layout. It is being slowly renovated but we were not bothered by the work. People very nice.

Probably one of the worst Marriott properties I’ve stayed in. Sure the lobby has been updated, but the rest of the property needs attention… dated décor, poor air quality (hallways smelled like a sweaty gym locker room and in room AC was blowing humid air), lights out in the parking lot.
Staff was friendly and room was clean. Correct the above mentioned issues and the place wouldn’t be that bad for a basic hotel.

Nothing too special about this Courtyard. I usually stick with Marriott for generic travel because the quality is consistent. No free breakfast. The room was simple. We arrived around 11:30pm and checked out at 9am so we didn’t have time to use the gym (seemed small but good) or the pool.

Huggggeee stinkbug problem. Called the front desk and they offered to switch rooms but she stated that they may also be there. My family had three rooms on the 2^nd floor and all three had bugs in them GROSS CALL AN EXTERMINATOR

Went here for a night before heading to a camp at UVA. We walked in a few hours early, and the woman at check-​in asked what our room preference was (2^nd floor inward facing, please!). We ended up waiting about 30 minutes for the room, which was fine considering it was so early. In the meantime, my dad and I got our Marriott Platinum arrival gift, which was two water bottles, chocolate, and some granola bars.
The room was okay, pretty much what you’d expect in a Courtyard. It was clean and had a new tv (with limited HD options). Looking outside into the courtyard, I noticed a trash can full of trash that hadn’t been emptied. Gross.
In the morning, we had breakfast with our vouchers (included in the rate) for free breakfast. Upon taking a bite of my dad’s sandwich, I noticed a wad of hairs stuck in my teeth. DISGUSTING. The lady at he bistro was like «OH…sorry…I’ll get you a new one». I would have expected a more sincere sorry than that. Oh well.
Overall, I’d stop by if I needed to and was in C-​Ville again. Decent Courtyard in an okay area.

Clean room. Small but clean and functional. Not much room for the money (it was fairly expensive). Inconveniently located with few nearby dining options. Hot breakfast was standard fare, nothing special. Front desk was friendly. Nothing to love or dislike really. Truely a so-​so place.

The people here are nice and it’s a decent location. There’s a Courtyard closer to downtown if that’s where you’re looking to go. This Courtyard has not been update with the new café and lobby yet. The good news is the rooms are clean and the staff here are very friendly.

Stayed here on Marriott points. It’s definitely a mid-​grade Courtyard. They haven’t renovated it with the new front desk and café design. The room was very clean, nice TV, good internet access, and friendly staff. Thanks!

NIce quite and clean, the only real thing I didn’t care for was the bed was way to soft for me and the coffee at breakfast was too strong. Other then that 3 stars is all they are getting out of me.

Not bad, was a bit lacking for a Cortyard.

The Husband and I stayed here for one night because we were attending the Monticello Wine Festival and did not want to drive back to DC after. The Husband is some kind of platinum something or other with Marriott, so we got upgraded to a two room deal. The room was nice enough and, most importantly, it was clean. We watched the television only briefly, but the television was nice and had a good channel selection. Bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels were clean.
Overall, a nice stay but nothing super special.

We bid on priceline for $ 70 per night for 3 stars in Charlottesville and ended up here. This hotel was fine and we stayed for two nights. Plenty of complimentary stuff, a legit breakfast (we didn’t eat it but they had pancakes and some sort of omelet bar), convenient location, clean room. Pool, jacuzzi, and workout center. The pool was crowded with children after 10pm so we passed it up.

If you’re staying here for business, or need the internet to actually work, go some place else. They say high speed but it’s closer to snail-​speed. Their business center is a total joke as well and does not allow you to plug in a USB drive to print documents. They use iBahn software that is ultra old and archaic.
The rooms are clean, the courtyard is nice. There’s a pool, jaccuzi, and small workout room.

It had a jacuzzi tub with the jets and mirrors — complimentary soaps, lotions, & plenty of towels & washcloths.
My bf and I went there for Valentine’s Day. The price was right and included a bottle of wine and cookies.
The noise level was OK. Everything else looked basic in the room. Lots of shops & restaurants nearby. It’s a nice, friendly college town.
