Went to this place via GrubHub and ordered a fried chicken fillet sandwich, some tea, and a cheesecake. Sandwich was a bit dry, but it was pretty good. The tea tasted just right. The cheesecake also tasted excellent. Delivery came by quicker than I expected. Overall, I never went there in person, I would highly recommend this place.

Although they’ve been only operating for 5 years, it has an old country design which makes kinda authentic. Definitely a 5-star service. wherever I go, I tend to ask a lot of questions about menu and restaurant itself, and despite the endless conversation, our waitress was very welcoming and patient. YOUCANBUILDYOUROWNOMELETTE!!! Just let them know what you like and they’ll make it for you. We paid around $ 12 each for a breakfast steak platter, an omelette, and separate side dish of bacon. The only reason I hesitate to give 4-star is because bathrooms were noticeably dirty and old.

Biscuits are absolutely delicious. Bacon was nice and crisp! Eggs were cooked exactly as requested. Coffee was good too! We ordered a side of gravy for the biscuits to try. It was okay, but it’s not as good as homemade. The biscuits are so good though!!!

Great breakfast food. I had the pancakes and they were much better than expected. The staff is very friendly and prices are reasonable. For a diner they had great coffee. Free refills for $ 1.50. I will be back.

Poor excuse for a diner. Owner is a large rude male whose English is sub-par. A 7 year old could have made a better meal there.

Decided to meet some friends for brunch here. Service was very prompt and our server friendly. All our food came out rather quickly and the portions were adequate. I had the biscuits and gravy. It was a little bland for my taste. However based upon the overall experience I would give this place another shot.

The reviews are correct. Not worth your money or time. The owner/manager was unwilling to correct a botched order I received even though it was obviously their error. Can’t say I’ve been treated that poorly in a restaurant before. Congrats Cavalier, you win! This was in 2012. Hopefully things have changed.

Great diner for no-frills breakfast. Food and coffee were good, but was especially impressed w/the fantastic service. Staff is super-friendly and attentive, and a pleasure to be around. Would definitely go back here next time in Charlottesville.

Food is average at best. Not worth the long wait to be seated or the long wait to place the breakfast order.

Dropped by here for breakfast passing through Charlottesville. Very cute diner serving traditional diner fare– waffles, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, burgers, sandwiches, Greek food, and more. I had biscuits and gravy, and a waffle. Waffle is probably the best I’ve had in a long time, and the biscuits seemed flaky and homemade. The atmosphere was very friendly, and the service was actually really good. Seems like the type of place where a group of long-term regulars would visit every morning. In fact, there seemed to be a few groups of regulars, which is always a sign of a good place.

Went once visiting a few years ago and enjoyed it. Came back after living here and it appears that things have gone downhill. They sent out my «over-medium» egg out with a broken yolk and gave us attitude when I sent it back. I won’t be back.

Great breakfast! All the southern standards. I need to go back and try the Breakfast Pigs in a Blanket(pancake wrapped sausages). Great sausage gravy and biscuits, hash browns and the eggs were just right. Note: the Directions provided by Unilocal are not entirely correct. It is across the street, at the corner of Emmett and Earhart/Morton

Tried to order delivery from here. It took an hour and a half, during which time they did not answer any of my phone calls. Food is meh. Avoid if you have any other options.

Stopped in here for brunch on a whim, and very glad we did!!! While the atmosphere was nothing special, the food and people made up for the basic diner appearance. Waitress was great and the breakfast was perfect… with ample portions and very reasonable prices. We definately plan on returning… and I would suggest giving it a try!!!

I can’t believe there is only one other review for the Cavalier Diner. It has certainly changed since the last review in 2009. We went recently for Sunday brunch. 5 adults, a very grouchy toddler and a fussy baby received the kindest, most gracious service. The food is average(though the greek omeletteand biscuits were noteworthy). It did take some time for our food to be served but it was hot and fresh when it did finally arrive. The dining area and restroom were both very clean. There were no TV’s that I noticed or if there were, they certainly weren’t tuned to cartoons. But most important was the outstanding service. We really needed to be treated kindly that morning and we really were.

Went here thinking it was going to be Sam’s. Now it’s Cavalier. No frills, nothing particularly out of the ordinary, except maybe that they serve crepes. I had the banana and pecan Belgian waffle. Straight forward breakfast. Reasonable service. Middle-of-the-road coffee. Clean enough eating area. Children’s cartoons were screeching loudly on the wall-mounted television. I guess that makes this place good for kids? I found it shrill. I wouldn’t go back. My friend commented, «If you want breakfast in a dingy, noisy, somewhat crowded, poor-excuse for a diner, this is it. The food is marginal from beginning to end. The best thing we said about it was, ‘It filled the hole.’»
