I visit this Y most often since it is close to work. It’s a smaller Y which means less options and generally less people. Thus far I’ve only taken cycle class @ 6pm Tues — Thurs. All the instructors are great. The staff is pleasant and getting a bike is no problem(except Tues). If you want a quiet gym to workout in, this one is great. Never overcrowded.

I just joined the YMCA of Greater Charlotte and the Steele Creek location is the closest to where I live. It’s considered an ‘Express Y,’ meaning is it smaller and there is no basketball courts, no swimming pool, only one fitness room, no kids are allowed, and less classes are offered. The equipment is clean and the staff is very friendly. They is always equipment and weights available and does not seem to get overly crowded. I do find is harder to attend classes as there are less offered, and I find myself going to the Dowd Y. Overall, its a nice standard gym with a handful of classes. It’s sufficient to get a good workout in.

This location is much smaller compared to the Dowd YMCA. I go in the morning and it’s not crowded. Some cons: they don’t provide towels for the shower and there are only four shower stalls. They need to clean the women’s showers more thoroughly. The drain has built-up hair where the cleaning lady hasn’t gotten it up. I think that looks nasty. The employees always treat me graciously, though. There’s also a daycare for babies and young children.
