Awesome beer! Incredible recipes. As for the crowd, not very good craft beer people. The men spend more money on their hair than the women and they also act like it. For the die hard craft people who bond over beer, be careful. This is a strange element.
Beer was amazing.

The best brewery we visited in Charlotte. Very friendly staff and knowledgeable. Laid back atmosphere and some of the best beer I’ve ever tasted. I thought the Good Morning Vietnam was good, then I had the Mocha Good Morning Vietnam. The only problem I had with this brewery is the fact that I can’t but their product in Georgia!!! An honorable mention goes out to the What He’s Having beer on tap. Great local brewery. I will definitely return!

Wow, I have been waiting to go to Wooden Robot and I am sorry I waited so long. Their Beers are fantastic. I loved the Good Morning Vietnam and now they added the Mocha Good Morning Vietnam On a Boat is fantastic and so is the What She’s Having. Its big and open and clean has a great outdoor area too! You also have access to the Twisted Food Truck outside which has incredible Beer infused food. ie: had the Beer Cheese and Pretzels and Duck Quesadillas, and the Cubano Sandwiches… Really Good beer, atmosphere and extra food too!

Was pleased that they had some sour beers on the menu. It was pretty good too! Enjoyed the porter as well. For all the people that want to be here, they need a bigger patio. With all of the people and dogs, that place was packed on a Sunday afternoon!

The Good Morning Vietnam brew (coffee vanilla blonde ale) is so good we served it at our wedding. Everyone loved it, even those that aren’t normally beer drinkers! It’s a collaboration with a local coffee (Enderly) which makes it even better. We enjoy hanging out here with our friends and grabbing bites from the Twisted Eats food truck.

Great space and beer options! I love the indoor and outdoor seating. I love the names of their beers. There is typically 2 – 3 that I really like but I try them all. I love that they have a 5oz, 10oz & 17oz pour options. Oftentimes, I like to get several of the 5oz options unless there is one that I am over the moon about (and that happens). The industrial feel, the garage door open to let the outside in & the view of the brew masters haven makes for great atmosphere. Couldn’t pick a better location in South End, so close to Uptown. Venture here & come back often. Cheers!

Now when you think of Charlotte craft beer will come up in the conversation. Why? Because of all the fabulous breweries that are located here! Wooden Robot is definitely a great addition to the Charlotte brew family. They have a wonderful venue located on the outskirts of the city and its close to other places to eat and drink if you want to make a night out of it.
They only have one bar but it is rather large so getting served is not much of an issue. There is a good amount of seating inside and out on their patio. Towards the weekend time if you’re not there early then you probably will be standing. Tons of people come here and it’s understandable because their beer rocks! They have a good amount of taps and they keep new brews in regularly. They also have great names for their beers too so it’s fun ordering what you want! Staff was super helpful and nice.
Also don’t miss the first craft beer inspired food truck parked right outside! Delicious!

Let me just tell you about how much I LOVE this place. Well, it’s awesome, to say the least. It’s not cheap, but quality comes at a price…
Beers:
Peachy Apribot sour: ⁵⁄₅
Wow; this one was so good, I got a growler to go. Great flavors, smooth and just the right balance of sour & fruit.
King of Funk sour: ⁴⁄₅
Almost as good, but not as creative. I’m an IPA fan and chose this as my second place of the night.
What He’s Having IPA: ⁴⁄₅
Great solid IPA. I was two drinks in at this point, but the heavy hops and bold citrus really came through.
Extra Good extra pale ale: 3.5÷5
Solid Pale Ale, but not as fantastic as the IPA.
Hop Boulders DIPA: 3.5÷5
Started out great, but just OK after 15 minutes. Still a good beer.
Paranoid Android: ³⁄₅
Not sure where they wanted this one to go, but it’s very similar to the Extra Good, just not as strong.
China Town chicken salad: 4.5÷5
This new dish was as good as I hoped. Think Asian vinaigrette with cabbage instead of mayo-​based. Did not disappoint!

Wooden Robot was our first foray into the world of breweries that have been popping up all over Charlotte. What appealed most to me about this place was the modern look to it, plus the way cool name.
It was a Friday night and we must have hit the bar at just the right time. The brewery was packed with people, but hardly anyone was standing in line for a drink. I think what I tried was the Azakka Khan, which was described as a grapefruit taste. My first sip of it tasted pretty bitter, and I wasn’t sure that I liked it. Then I realized… hey, this is grapefruit. Real grapefruit. Then I loved it. It went down pretty easy.
Afterwards, the lines got pretty long, but seemed to be moving pretty quickly. They only serve beer (no food, no liquor), so having a limited menu certainly helps speed up the process. (Although there was a food truck outside.)
The brewery itself has a lot of seating (both indoors and out), but we stood around because what seats they did have were already taken inside (and it was a little too chilly outside that night).
We’ll definitely be back to Wooden Robot.

I like the look and feel of this place, great patio, delicious beer — but man is the service slow!
Best tip about this place: Good Morning Vietnam (Coffee Vanilla Blonde Ale) — best beer yet, like crème soda, so just one will do it!

I am so torn about my review here. On one hand, their beer is definitely 5 star worthy. On the other hand, the service was absolutely atrocious and «downright rude» pretty much sums up how the server at the bar was to us. I want to come back for the really delicious beer, but I also don’t feel like I should support a brewery that treats its customers like trash.
The beer: Unlike many breweries, I liked all the beers I tried here and I loved their catchy names. The Godless Killing Machine (a Nitro Imperial Stout) and Good Morning Vietnam (a coffee vanilla blonde ale) were stand-​outs, being some of the best beers I have tried EVER. The Godless Killing Machine had a definite coffee bitterness up front but a nice, smooth finish. The Good Morning Vietnam had a great vanilla flavor with subtler coffee flavor, but was also smooth and well-​balanced. We also tried Renegade Of Funk (Funky Farmhouse Ale), What She’s Having (DIPA), Paranoid Android Deux (Farmhouse IPA), and Protect Ya Neck (Porter). All of these were pretty good as well.
The atmosphere: It is nice, with a view of the brewing equipment inside. There is a decent amount of seating inside and some outside, but as is the case with most breweries, it a struggle to find seats when it is busy. Parking is a bit of a nightmare, and with mostly street parking in the area. While they don’t serve food, they have a food truck parked outside (we did not try this).
The service: My partner and I came here around 4:00 on a Saturday afternoon, and it was very busy. When it finally came to be our turn at the bar, I tried to ask the bartender about getting a flight (we have never been here before and wanted to try a sampling of multiple beers). We had just seen a person before us get a flight, so we did not figure this would be an issue (plus there was a group of ladies standing at the bar drinking samples). He rudely responded to us that «when it’s this busy, we won’t do flights and you can only pick three small beers because we run out of glasses.» He demanded that we just tell him «what you want.» We weren’t sure if that was three small beers per person or what, so I ordered three and my partner picked three. After that, there was eye-​rolling and more rudeness as he brought them over and we paid.
I hate to downgrade a place so many stars because of customer service, but being busy is NEVER an excuse for rudeness to customers. I don’t know if I would come back next time I’m in Charlotte.

I love Charlotte’s rapidly growing brewery scene, and I can find something to love about all of the breweries in town. That being said, Wooden Robot has a consistent spot as one of my absolute favorites.
First, the beer: They have a great selection of mid-​range ABV beers ranging from hoppy, to funky to sour to somewhat sweet. I almost always begin with a pint of their Good Morning Vietnam — a coffee, vanilla blonde ale. It’s one of the tastiest, easy-​drinking brews available! Robot stands heads above the other CLT breweries when it comes to sours — they usually have one or two on tap — I’m a big fan. You can get beers in small, medium and large pours — depending on your mood.
The venue: The front area has several large, communal tables with the brewing equipment serving as a great backdrop behind a glass wall. The bar itself is in the back of the room — where, if there are a lot of people, it can get pretty crowded. The good news is the bartenders are usually very quick and efficient — so you don’t have much of a wait for your next brew. The outdoor patio is small, but nice to have.
The foodtruck: There’s a permanent food truck out front — Twisted Eats — with a great selection. Tip — skip the mac n’cheese egg rolls. Yes, they sound good in concept — in practice, they’re messy and oily. Do try the grilled cheese, the tater tots and the pretzel.

My husband and I have visited this brewery a few times. Our first experience, the bar was packed and it was definitely a cattle call to get a beer. So sitting at the bar, our preferred seat, was a no-​go. I decided to give this place a couple of more tries. Only fair right?
I love their setup. They have outdoor seating, always a plus, comfy couches, chairs and high/​low tables. There are a few areas where a small group could gather and have a more intimate experience which I liked as most breweries do not have this. The beers are displayed in an easy to read format with name, some have a brief description, ABV and prices. One thing that stands out here is the different size pours. You do not have to get a flight to sample their stock. Depending on the beer, you can get individual sample pours for $ 2 or $ 2.50 depending on the beer. I noticed $ 2.50 is reserved for those higher gravity beers.
I prefer higher gravity beers (10+) so the selection here lacks much excitement for me. Most are in the 5 and 6 ranges with a few just above 8. We ordered their Hop Boulders, very tart with definitive grapefruit flavors. Be prepared, it bites back and reminds me of sour apple jolly ranchers if I had a handful in my mouth. Our second choice was their Godless Killing Machine Stout. I enjoyed this much more and found it not too heavy. We relished the dark chocolate/​caramel flavors, yummy!
With each visit, the staff has been the same — average. During our most recent visit, they definitely were in a chill mode. I have been to my fair share of breweries, pubs and bars. I should not have to wait with an empty glass, hoping the bartender will look my way for that «oh so important eye contact» to order another beer, ESPECIALLY if I am sitting at the bar and it is not busy. I have always left this place feeling, meh.
The setup is a solid 5, beer and service a 3 at best. Oh, I almost forgot, they do have a permanent food truck in front too!

Wooden Robot has become one of the several places I seem to visit after work. They are located just down the road from Unknown Brewery, so this is either the first or last place for me to get a beer before heading home.
When compared to other area breweries, I really like the cozy feel that you get here. They do have plenty of room, but when the place isn’t crowded you definitely don’t feel like your all alone in the middle of a Texas-​sized dance hall. They have a bar that seats a dozen and some couch seating as well as your standard tables and chairs and some pub style tables as well. They have a lot of standing room. So when it does get crowded there is plenty of room to congregate.
I especially love their outdoor seating area. Lots of great seating and overflow for the bar when it gets crowded: which it does. I’d say the crowds are the only real drawback when your interested in relaxing and having a few brews. When the bar seats are full it’s hard to get served so I’m sure they loose a lot of customers who don’t like waving to be found.
Aside from the setup, I’m a so-​so fan of their brew selection. I’ve tried several varieties and the Godless Killing Machine Russian Imperial Stout is my only go-​to choice. At 8.1% ABV it’s on the low end of my taste preferences, but I’m willing to overlook that for its rich flavour.
I should mention that they have the Twisted Eats food truck permanently stationed outside. It has a great selection that includes Drunken Dubbed Duck Quesadillas, a Lamb Burger, Hop Rocks Fried Ribs. Touted as Charlotte’s only beer and food collaboration, all menu items are hand crafted with Wooden Robot Ales. Great concept and the quality is second to none.
I like this place. The staff is a 3, the location is a 4, the setup is a 4, the Food is 5+, and the beers are a solid 3. I’m giving them 3-​Stars for effort. I like the food more than the brews, but they make a decent beer to pair with my dining pleasures.

The bartenders here aren’t very personable. The atmosphere is nice, and beer selection is pretty good. I would definitely come back to hang out. I was there on a weeknight and there was a good crowd.

Apparently a new addition to the Charlotte craft beer scene, Wooden Robot busted out the gates soaring mighty high! The amazing brews in addition to the ambiance & décor made this brewery my favorite in Charlotte so far. Parking is all street parking, but there’s quite a bit around. Sometimes they have food trucks on the weekends too.
The bar is located in the back of the brewery past the fermenters & bathrooms. There are a few cozy sofas & chairs to chill on, and there’s even an outdoor patio to the side. I loved the woodsy industrial décor! There were 8 – 10 barstools & the ‘tenders were very polite & knowledgeable.
I highly recommend getting a flight because they have such great options & it’s hard to choose just one! I loooooved that they had 4 or 5 dark beers (porters/​stouts) — 2 were imperial & 2 were 5−7%ABV. They were all made so so well with such attention to detail. I loved the Yule See holiday stout & Good Morning Vietnam (apparently so does everyone else!) I also loved the What He’s Having IPA.
Clever names, awesome décor, & great vibes… what’s not to love?

Glassy Wood Theme Brewery with Unique Flavors.
I came to the brewery several times, and each time I am impressed by the distinct flavors that they created. All there beers are unique and well formed. Definitely get a flight and sample the assortment they offer. More often than not you’ll find something there the jives well with what your mouth likes.
The building is clean and well styled in a nice minimal wooden brick motif. (haha) Ya its nice. Go enjoy the outside patio too if the weather is good.
Its worth checking out. Classy Casual.

I’ve been very impressed with this brewery even if they are quite new. They offer a wide variety of beer styles from an oatmeal nitro stout to pale ales, IPAs, and my recent favorite sours.
As others have stated, the vibe here is cool. The bar is in the back, The brewing equipment is in the middle of the place and there are leather sofas and chairs as well as high top tables around the taproom. They also have a nice patio.
The staff here has been really friendly and happy to let you sample any beer or explain different styles and make recommendations. They also offer their beers in 3 sizes outside of a flight which is a nice option.
Yes, I’m a fan and actually this is becoming one of my favorite breweries in Charlotte.
One last note. While the address says Tryon St, this brewery actually sits back on Summit Ave at the corner of Winnifred St. Right now, you can park for free on the street or in the lot across the street until they decide to put up meters or put up towing enforced signs like they seem to do elsewhere in Charlotte.

My favorite brewery that we visited this time on brewery day in Charlotte! I loved the name, glassware, interior and garage door that opened.
Boyfriend and I decided to split all of the beers which were 5oz pours for $ 2 or $ 2.50 depending on the beer. Favorites included the Sweet Tater Pie, Razz Hands, House of the Rye Saison and Nothing to See Here.
Definitely recommend if you are in the Charlotte!

The beer is definitely fresh and tasty. Kudos for breaking out of the Belgian box and making some IPAs!
Just four on tap to start, but next week there will be at least twice that many!
The Overachiever Pale Ale is a homerun: a really nice nose and chock full of mellow flavors! If you like the floral blossom of a Saison, this one will please your palate! The I’ll Have What She’s Having Double IPA gets an «A» for effort with some pineapple notes!
So forget what you heard about just making Belgians! Wooden Robot is bringing their «A» game!
