I was hesitant going into Ultra running the 1st time. I am a 5 — 10k runner at a slow pace. I’ve been to Ultra Running a few times now. They’ve helped me choose appropriate shoes which have worked well for me. They have a good selection of both shoes & clothes in brands/​selections I have not found in the other running stores in town.
I also joined the Ultra group recently for a trail recently. They said all abilities welcome & it really felt that way. Don’t be intimidated by the name.

If you are looking to get into running or already are a seasoned runner looking for some gear, Ultra Running is the best place to go!
Don’t worry if you don’t know much about running, or about running gear, the staff at Ultra Running are all experienced, enthusiastic, and humble runners that have all the knowledge you’ll need. From the moment you walk in the door, you will be eagerly greeted by the staff, who make you feel very welcomed and comfortable. And perhaps most importantly, they are very personal and don’t make you feel pressured into buying. One of the staff literally talked with me about shoes for about 30 minutes.
And as far as gear, you can get everything you need here! From shoes to socks, shirts, shorts, and all type of accessories, they can outfit you. They also have interesting new running items that you probably won’t find at other stores.
You can go to other running stores, and you can go to big department/​sporting goods stores, but they won’t give you the experience that you will get going into this store. And you won’t get the exact things you really need. After getting shoes and shorts, the owner still comes and greets me and talks with me every time I am there. That’s how personal and great this store is!

At first glance this place may seem like it doesn’t have much of a selection of shoes but don’t be fooled the shoes they have are top notch. I had the pleasure of working with Jeff. He was the most knowledgeable sales person I’ve ever encountered. I highly recommend this place!

Went there today and was greeted by an amazingly knowledgeable staff. My wife and I both explained our fitness goals and the type of shoes we were interested in and they guided us through the process of trying on and picking out the perfect shoe (Altra Torin 1.5). During our visit they had us run on the treadmill, analyzing out strike and stride; we tried on several shoes and feel like we had experts to help up on pick the right show for each of us. I will definitely purchase from them again!

Great service. Super knowledgeable staff in Nathan, Jeff and Jamie. The shop carries great brands that runners respect and know, including Altra, Salomon (sp?), and Ink N Burn. The staff all runs too — so they only sell products they know. My wife also discovered multiple items thanks to help. High recommendation.

Definitely the best running store in Charlotte. Don’t let the name intimidate you… it doesn’t matter if you have been running ultras for years or just considering running your first! The guys (and gals) running this place can help you find what you’re looking for and perhaps get you even more excited about running!
If you think it’s «just another running store» think again and check it out for yourself. You won’t find Altra, Inov8, or Salomon anywhere else. and you definitely won’t find InkNBurn apparel or Tailwind Nutrition at the other stores!

These guys know running. They are so educated and friendly, and take a lot of time with you to explain their products. I went to other running stores in Charlotte before finding this one, but now only want to come here. Women, try their Oiselle line, it’s amazing.

Best Running Store in Charlotte!
I have shopped at quite a few running/​/​sports stores and have yet to be all that impressed with what I have found in town. Finally a place that carries trail shoes and a great selection of them as well. A lot of hard to find brands like Tailwind Nutrition, Hoka, Solomon, Innov-​8 and Altras. This store is great for everyone from a new runner focused on 5k’s to the veteran Ultramarathoner.
The staff is extremely patient and knowledgeable. I am sure there is more I should be saying but go check them out and see if I am right.
