Until June 16th you have a chance to see«Taming of the Shrew» on the Green. Do yourself a favor and don’t miss it. This is a rare comedic Shakespearean treat and both acting and directing is right on! The performances are free,(although donations are accepted and encouraged). Bring your blankets or chairs, picnics, wine, soda, etc. Sit back and enjoy a wonderful 2 hour performance under the stars in the middle of uptown Charlotte Thursday through Saturday beginning at 8 and Sunday at 6:30.(unless there is inclement weather). Come early to get a good spot for your blanket or chair and prepare to be thoroughly entertained by some of Charlotte’s best actors. P. S. Volunteers are welcome. I had a great time as an usher last weekend!

A great summer tradition in Charlotte! The Charlotte Shakespeare Festival has always produced incredibly high-caliber, fun-infused interpretations of classic works. I am delighted by the fresh takes on the scripts and the local and regional talent that delivers them. The location couldn’t be better, either, with most performances being staged on The Green off of the Levine Avenue of the Arts. The placement of the brick half-walls and the fish statues and trees are the perfect natural proscenium, and the seating arrangements always work well. Bonus points for Fuel being a few yards away to grab a snack and a beer for the show. This is one of the best«free» events in Charlotte during the summer. If you enjoy it as much as I do, though, be sure to donate to the Charlotte Shakespeare Festival after each performance so that we can continue to have this incredible cultural offering in the city.
