Frank Ratcliffe, practiced bootlegging during prohibition. In later years, he would operate a nightclub in downtown Charlotte, where Discovery Place sits today. He was well-known for providing his patrons with a good time. Through that life, he would meet Velma Corey. She came to the club as a singer and two weeks after her arrival, they were married. Seeking a different life, he purchased a farm in North Mecklenburg, and build the familie’s home. Soon after he would build a golf course on that property. He and his beloved Velma, lived together for more than 25 years and raised three children.

Before his passing, he buried Seven Jars on the property. What was later found in those Seven Jars are the basis for this company today. We would love to tell you the whole story, so stop by anytime!
