This park is named for Officer Robert L. Smith, a Charlotte police officer slain in the line of duty. Officer Smith was shot and killed January 15, 1987 while responding to a call of someone shooting into a condominium complex at Spyglass Place in the Pawtuckett Community, part of the old Adam-​3 District.
The above is extracted from web-​site. I personally love this place as it is safe as long as there is day light and easy for any age to walk, jog or bike along the very open concrete trail. Playground for kids. The trail is half a mile. There are other trails that I have not tried unless I have company.
Free parking and not crowded. Great!
