I’ve been a patient of Dr. Dixon’s for years, and was a patient of his(retired) father. I’ve always found this team to be ethical, professional, and to have my best interests. Staff is high quality– there has been very little turnover in the 20 years I’ve been a patient — which indicates that staff is treated as well as the patients. Great team.

I was a patient at this office for 25 years, getting good care by Robert’s father for most of that period. Robert took over the practice at some point 10 years ago, and I was satisfied for the most part. They don’t file insurance and don’t participate in any networks, so no discounts and you pay that day. OK, I could live with that. I take good care of my teeth and get checkups religiously 2x a year. I try to be proactive and solicit/follow all guidance from dentist and hygienist. I thought I was doing well. Until a new hygienist came in four years ago and noticed swollen & infected gums. She did a quick perio probe, MYFIRSTINMY47YEARS, and discovered moderate to severe periodontal disease, well advanced, and easily discoverable in previous visits. I asked Dixon why something this slow to progress could not have been caught earlier before severe damage was done(I now risk losing 3 teeth), and he just shrugged. But his new hygienist’s eyes told me all — she knew I should have been routinely checked years earlier. A quick google search revealed that old-time dentists sometimes do not do routine perio probing. The painless, cost-free procedure takes less than 5 minutes, and is clearly proactive dental care. It is recommended for anyone over 40. Yet Dixon never did one. It seems that in our litigious society that it would be a no brainer to have his hygienist do them every 12 – 24 months, but I guess he’s effectively one of the old timers. After my google search, I transferred my family’s records to another provider immediately — I was surprised that he never contacted me or asked me why he was losing a 25 year patient(my wife was there for 40 years!). Now, after periodontal surgery and 4 costly perio cleanings a year, I still risk losing the teeth. My new provider is far more advanced in their equipment and technology, they file insurance, and provide network discounts. If all you want are friendly chats about your golf game, Dixon’s your guy. But if you need proactive dental care and patient convenience, you won’t find it here. You can do much better.

We have with Dr. Dixon for years and he is by far the best dentist I’ve ever had. He has such a gentle touch and is fantastic with children. He has a wonderful chairside manner and always has the patients best interest at heart. In the past, I had other dentists recommend a lot of costly and seemingly unnecessary dental work. Dr. Dixon only recommends what is necessary and always gives you the pros and cons. His staff is nice and very professional. A friend once called Dr. Dixon with a dental emergency on a holiday weekend and Dr. Dixon met him in the office 30 minutes later.
