Established in 2002.

Ray’s Splash Planet opened it’s doors on October 15, 2002 and has been a destination for Mecklenburg County residents ever since. Voted «Best place to Get Wet 2003» (Charlotte Observer), «Best Recreation Facility» 2003 & 2004 (Creative Loafing) and «Best Place to Have a Birthday Party 2005» (Charlotte City Magazine), «Best Place to Swim 2008» (Charlotte Parent Magazine), «Best Pool/​Spray Park 2009» (Charlotte Parent Magazine), Ray’s Splash Planet offers year round fun for the entire family.

Got here right when they opened, and were the only people there for a while. Kids had a great time. It was perfect for 4 year olds. Once it got crowded we left though.

2. Pool area very nice.
3. Bathroom/​locker room was clean .
4. Easy to get to from 77.
5. Not a lot of parking, get here early.
6. Strong chlorine smell… of course it is an indoor pool.

Took the kids to Ray’s Splash Planet on MLK day. There’s limited parking out front but they have additional parking in the school lot. If you aren’t partaking in the activities you must buy a dry ticket. No worries as the prices are very reasonable. They have a fitness center, and even though I should’ve, I wasn’t in the mood for using it.
You have to take all of your belongings with you into the park area. My only question is what is the point of the lockers if you can’t keep your belongings locked in them?
They have a little tyke splash pad, a small lazy river, an open tube slide, a vortex whirlpool, and a free swim area that’s not really good for swimming but better for getting splashed by random strangers and having rogue balls being thrown at you.
Overall, I think it’s a fantastic option for those days when you’re kids as out of school and you just want to read the internet… or a book.

We always have a pleasant time! We are always greeted by warm staff and given clear instructions. I love the fact that you purchase an all day pass, so you can break up your time spent, for example, swim, go outside for a picnic, play, swim again. Also, for a few additional dollars, the workout room upstairs is a nice treat.
Yes, it’s loud, (what do you expect at a child themed water park?) And the chlorine levels are high (would rather this than illness due to under treated water), but it is money well spent for what it is — a low cost, safe, family themed, county maintained recreation facility.
The only tips I have are:
Try to go during non-​peak times.
It’s best to dry off, throw on something quick, and go home to shower, etc. The bathroom/​changing areas get full fast and maintenance can’t always attend to them as often as needed.

Great fun for all ages. Lifeguards were very helpful and alert. Since it is an indoor pool– very noisy. I like how they provide life jackets. Easy to get to this place right off of I-​77 exit 10C.
They offer reasonably priced swim lessons.

Came here for a birthday party. Overall nice experience. Minus the exception of lifeguards blowing whistles every minute but I guess that means there following safety rules so can’t be mad at that. Nice staff and there is also a playground around the back if you want to let your kids run around a little more. We will be coming back. Also items in snack bar for $.75 can’t beat that.

We went on a Friday and it wasn’t too busy. We all had a wonderful time until the end. We were in the womens locker room and even though they had a family locker room there were little boys there about 6 – 7 years old changing in the room too and one walking around with no clothes on. I had my little sister and did not appreciate it at all. When I talked to staff all they asked me was if they had autism? It doesnt chnge anything. Come on there was a family bathroom right there. And they didn’t seem too concerned about my complaint. And the bathrooms were nasty. But if you don’t use the locker rooms or bathrooms it is good.

Unfortunately, this very good concept has been ruined by a run down and unkept facility. As one of the previous reviewers noted, we were asked to exit the water for 30 minutes while the chlorine worked its magic on the *contaminated* water. Perhaps it was this experience that really turned me off, however the restrooms were dirty, every toilet backed up, etc. I have been to similar county run facilities in other states, and they are kept up much higher standards of cleanliness.

Sunday birthday parties are not my favorite thing, I mean what if it was a football Sunday? Thank goodness it’s not football season but my son could care less, he just loves a party especially if it involves water. I think this place is a great party idea and of course you can come anytime as they’re open all year… the perks of an indoor water park. I’ve had great experiences here but my last was a little different as the chlorine seemed to be at a higher level than normal, and it was blazing hot. I’ll give them a pass as an isolated situation but I will definitely think twice before I return.

Went here yesterday to experience what it’s like in an indoor waterpark. Overall it was nice except everyone had to exit the water not once but TWICE. Let’s just say not everyone swimming doesn’t have bladder control. Anyways, food/​snacks are surprisingly cheap with a decent menu. Can’t imagine what it’s like in the summer. Admission is cheap to (especially if you’re a county resident).

Pluses: they have amenities you might see at a waterpark for a fraction of the price in a clean, well-​run facility. They have food available at the snack bar ranging from a popsicle (25 cents) to large pizzas. They offer a «dry pass», a discounted ticket for adults to come in as chaperones and non-​swimmers (and they have nice beach chairs lining the perimeter). The lifeguards and staff members are really, really nice.
Minuses: It can get CROWDED. It can get very steamy during those hot summer days. On the day we visited, the water was quite heavily chlorinated (or whatever the chemical of choice is these days). You can’t bring your own food, and you can’t go in and outside without drying off all the way and getting dressed. Those rules weren’t followed by everyone, so if you followed the rules you would have been a little appalled at seeing the numerous occasions of rule-​breaking.
Good for 1 – 3 hours of summertime fun.
