Pop-​A-​Lock is a nationwide franchise founded by law enforcement officers in Lafayette, LA. Pop-​A-​Lock has been operating in the Charlotte area since 1998. The current operators purchased the Charlotte franchise in 2009.

We have called Charlotte home since 2000. Pop-​A-​Lock is our second business venture; we ran customer picture framing stores in Dilworth and Matthews for seven years prior to entering the locksmithing business.

Excellent service and reasonable rates!!! Lost my only car key to my Mazda 6 while on a trip to California. Edwin met me and my husband at the Charlotte International airport to unlock and create a new key and remote fob for my car. He was very professional, courteous, and efficient. Had we gone with the dealship it would have cost us an additional $ 50 + and would of required us to have the car towed to the dealership.

Recently moved into a new place and needed to find a locksmith who could rekey all the locks in a timely and efficient manner without breaking the bank, Pop a Lock hit a grand slam in all areas, as not only was the customer service A+ from start to finish, but the job was done in a very professional and efficient manner by Alex the technician, who took the time to walk me through the process and at no extra charge, he even corrected the orientation of a lock that had been incorrectly installed by the previous owners. First class service from start to finish as Alex was in and out in less than 40 minutes, the work was done professionally at a great value and the locks work like a charm. Welcome to the 5 star club Pop a Lock!

I just moved to the Charlotte area. I had a tool chest that the movers had something fall on the chest while moving and broke the key off inside. I was lost without a single tool not even so much as a screw driver. I called Pop-​A-​Lock, they were great! They came out with a few hours and was able to get the chest open. Edwin was awesome!

I had to call Pop-​A-​Lock because Iocked myself out of my house. Given that it was a Sunday, I expected a very large charge and to wait for quite a while. I was very surprised to find a price lower than I expected and them apologizing that it would take 35 minutes to get to my house. Lower cost and faster than I expected.
Edwin arrived very promptly and quickly let me into my house (after confirming my identity).
We talked about rekeying the locks for my house (because I just bought it). After talking for a little while, Edwin actually recommended not to have I’m rekey the locks but rather to buy new hardware (and not from him).
Honest, fast and reasonably priced… what more can you ask for.

Alex to the rescue! We are renting a third floor condo and the dead bolt key just wouldn’t work. I even had two keys on me and neither worked. Called Pop a Lock and Alex was there within 30 minutes. It wasn’t an easy job (the lock was broken), but Alex figured it out and saved money to top it off. Kudos to a great company and a great tech.

We lost a set of keys at Carowinds Amusement Park, but had a spare set in the car. After a 15 hour day with two kids in tow, we were ready to go home. Called Pop-​A-​Lock who said they would be 35 minutes and not too pricey. This was after 9 p.m. and two small kids mind you. 45 minutes passed and I called back 3 times because I was put on hold for an additional 10 minutes, thought I’d been disconnected. The tech is running late, he’ll be about 20 minutes. We thought, okay, it’s not too bad. Another ½ hour later I called back. The same routine with the placed on hold. Operator says, «I’ll message the tech and he will give me an E.T.A.». The tech tells the operator 30 more minutes because he’s busy. We had no water, it’s in the car. The park is closed, no bathroom to use it is now 11 p.m. My two small children are now panicky. My daughter becomes physically ill, she thinks we’ll never get home, and my son is laying on the broken pavement exhausted.
Pop-​A-​Lock never showed up. We waited 2 hours on them and not one glimpse. Fortunately someone else came to the rescue. It was a two hour drive home after that ordeal and I’ll NEVER call Pop-​A-​Lock again.

I bought a condo over a year ago in Myers Park and the lock was wonky from the start. It was obvious that the locks had been changed a few times and that my key was a duplicate of a duplicate and worked only after about 15 tries. I was hesitant to call anyone to fix it because when I faced a similar situation living in Washington, D.C., it cost me over $ 500 to fix.
I finally got to the point of just not being able to handle the daily struggle with my front door — so I looked on Unilocal and found Pop-​A-​Lock. I called in and let the dispatcher know what was going on, within five minutes, the owner Edwin called me and gave me a few different options to solve my problem. He arranged to come to my house after work hours when it was convenient for me — I was already extremely impressed.
When Edwin arrived, he assessed my lock, proposed a few different options to try to fix the door explaining the different possible results and the costs — he immediately had my trust and I told him to just do whatever was necessary! He fixed the lock, fixed bolt and made me three keys in less than a hour — and for an honest price! I will only use Edwin and Pop-​A-​Lock in the future and I will be referring his business to everyone that I know! 5 stars, A plus, and I’m kicking myself for not taking care of my front door sooner!

I locked myself out the other day when I only had 15 minutes to get to my daughter’s school to pick her up on time! I called Pop-​A-​Lock and Edwin was there in less than that, got my door open in about five minutes, and I made it on time!
The service from start to finish was fantastic! I’m guessing I had an unusually fast turn-​around, but I live very close to their base of operation. Still, given the level of professionalism and courtesy of all who helped me – from the dispatcher to Edwin himself, I would have easily waited twice as long. And the price is reasonable too, considering what a huge deal it is to get locked out!
I can’t recommend Pop-​A-​Lock highly enough! And one of the best things about them? Siri pulls them up first on my iPhone when I say «I got locked out!»

I recently met Edwin Castro, owner of Pop-​A-​Lock of Charlotte, at a networking event in Uptown Charlotte. I expressed to him how difficult it was when I had to get new keys made for my car. I had no other choice but to pay for a tow to the dealership and on top of that, the keys, without a remote, ended up costing me a fortune. After talking with Edwin, I realized that if I knew about his business, he could have provided me with a new set of keys and remote, without having my car towed. This man was extremely helpful and offered to provide me with a remote for my car. He sent me a remote to my apartment with detailed instructions on how to activate the remote within a week of our initial conversation. Also, his instructions allowed me to easily activate the remote myself instead of paying to have someone do this task for me. He was sincere and had a sense of urgency in providing me with his service. I will definitely use Pop-​A-​Lock of Charlotte if I ever need a locksmith in the future.
