Myers Park Tailors

Had a family member who worked there for a few months and it was fine for a while and the owner is a nice guy when the time allows it.
The thing that really made me upset was that how in the matter of a few months it went from being respected and helped to learn (as this was something that was somewhat new to them, as they have never done tailoring before.) to being thought of being unreliable. Many of which was them missing days of work with a number of things. But the thing that I didn’t like is that in the matter of a week they are living and working in the one of the happier times of their life and now must try and find a new job without really having the time to prepare for it. Sure they may get a week or so of a paycheck after but it’s that sense of security and safety that people lose and have to «regain» after being let go. My point is I don’t like it when someone says they will do one thing only to do another.
So my rating is a 3 because it’s great business by business wise but, the situation could have been handled a lot more respectfully and easier. The Business is surplus for your tailoring needs in the Charlotte area. The only thing is that «personally» I feel that this situation was really uncalled for. Sure it could have been handled with better care and/​or even be given a notice that you’re not preforming up to par, rather than to just fire them, but hey it’s life and things happen for a reason.

My experience here has never been anything short of FANTASTIC! Wallid always takes the time to provide great customer service and feedback, regardless of how many customers are in the store. I find a lot of value in his knowledge of the industry and honest feedback, along with his desire to do what is best for the customer. He has come through for me and others on short notices.
As far as craftsmanship, Wallid is second to none. He truly has a gift for making suits that fit great and look even better. He has tailored some old sports coats for me and made them fit like a glove. I’ve also purchased 2 suits here and get compliments on them everywhere I go. I’ll be adding a suit and sports coat to my collection in the upcoming weeks. The quality of his work far surpasses the prices.
I currently recommend him to friends and will continue to do so. If you don’t believe me, go check it out and I think you’ll be impressed.

I went here for alterations to my wedding gown. The alterations were extensive and the whole bodice was beaded. I am pretty sure it was more expensive than I might have paid to have it done somewhere else, but it turned out perfect. And the peace of mind from going to the best was worth the extra money. My skirt was full tulle and the bustle they figured out was just gorgeous. If you need alterations on your wedding dress and its more than a simple hem, I would definitely recommend Myers Park Tailors.

Walid is truly a master of his craft. While Myers Park Tailors will not have the cheapest prices in town, that is to be expected when dealing with a business and an owner who pays rapt attention to the quality, fit, and workmanship of his product and/​or services. I had Walid build my wedding suit for me and I could not be happier with the results. I have always gotten my clothing tailored so it is no small declaration when I state that Walid is the best tailor that I have worked with to date. I will most certainly return to Myers Park Tailors in the future for any of my tailoring needs.

I’ve had MPT do numerous alterations for me and have always been pleased with the results. But I am never going back again, and this is why.
I rushed to MPT one evening with an urgent alteration. I live all the way across town, but I always go to MPT, even though there are tailors closer to me. I got stuck in terrible traffic and arrived minutes before closing time. As I parked, I saw a customer walk in and I thought «OK, good, it’s not too late». But by the time I got to the door 30 seconds later, it was locked. The owner saw me and my apologetic grin and opened the door. He said:
«I’m sorry, we close at six.»
«Oh no, it’s after six? I know I was cutting it close but the traffic…»
«What do you need done?»
«A simple hem on this dress. For my wedding reception. In a week and a half.»
«…can you come back tomorrow?»
[I stared at him, dumbfounded… did he hear what I said about this being a dress I need for my wedding? in a week and a half??] «…I can… try? I don’t know if I can?»
«OK come back tomorrow, thanks!» [door is shut and locked in my face]
As I walked away, I looked at my phone. 5:59pm. Not 6:05, or even 6:00. I had squeezed in under the wire — admittedly, only by a few minutes, but still. I was turned away, despite the obviously urgent situation.
I can’t fathom turning a customer away under those circumstances. They could have accommodated me by staying 5 more minutes — I had dress and shoes in hand, ready to go. Instead, he told a frantic bride-​to-​be to «come back tomorrow». I’m sure a lot of women know what the week before a wedding is like, and this was the last thing I needed. I’ll admit that I went back to my car and burst into tears. I was that upset. and frustrated Then I pulled myself together, googled to see who else was open, and drove to Tommy’s Tailoring in South Park. They were open until 7pm. I was greeted warmly and told my alteration could be done in time for my wedding, no problem. And they did a fine job.
Myers Park Tailors lost me for good. Because they shut the door in my face when I desperately needed their help. It was a cold thing to do to a loyal customer, and especially a stressed out bride. I’ll never forget how devastated I was, and I can’t ever go back after something like that.

Wow. Thank you Unilocal and thank you Myers Park Tailors. My experience was great beginning to end. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Mine was a simple job, but I was welcomed with the same enthusiasm as the gentleman being fitted for what appeared to be a custom suit. Nice.
The work was on point and completed ahead of schedule. As long as I am in Charlotte, MPT will be my tailor.

These guys are incredible. I have taken in around 20 pairs of pants and suits in the least 6 months to have cleaned up. A grey suit I purchased in 2008 now looks brand new with slim legs and updated length, and every pair of pants that didnt fit the way I liked is now like a new piece of my wardrobe.
By going there with all of my pants that I dont wear anymore and making them slim fitting and proper length it is like I have a completely new set of clothes, and I could not be happier.
Quality of work is A+++, and that is with the experience of having tailors in the 7 countries I have lived in.

Walid taught me how to shop for men’s clothing. The first suits I took to him he said he wouldn’t even touch because they were too big to be worth it. He is very honest and tells you like it is. After getting some «education» from Walid, now I feel like I know how to buy clothing that fits and that isn’t an old, grandpa style. He’s also very friendly and enjoyable to talk to. And he knows what he’s doing… over 25 years of experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND to everyone.

Too legit to quit. This is the place my well dressed picky friends credit with their sharp looks.
Walid is a master tailor, anything from a simple hem or buttons popping off to slim fit suits and formal wear. He will be upfront on time and offers a slight discount for paying in cash. Visit Myers Park Tailors and be better dressed for it.

I went here to get my prom dress altered. After trying it on, they advised me to just get a hook on the back above the zipper rather than taking it in the ½″ because it was a one time wear and it would be very expensive to do so. The hook worked great! It fit tighter and my dress remained comfortable all night. I recommended all my friends to come here for alterations because they kept the customer in mind (a high school student with a minimum wage summer job). My hook was only $ 9 and I saved so much money going here opposed to somewhere else.
Also if you come here for a small alteration like I did, bring cash! They take cash only for purchases less than $ 27.

My man does it again. Have taken 5 jackets to him now to tailor. He has advised me on brands to buy that fit my build, told me to pass on tailoring pieces that will never fit me correctly, and repeatedly deliver quality work. Highly recommend.

The service, the quality of work, and the turnaround time this business provides is superb. The owner was honest with me about what he is and isn’t able to do with what I brought him every time. I really appreciate when a person I’m trying to do business with provides what I want and tactfully guides me in the right direction, Wally does this effortlessly.

Believe the reviews, tastemakers. Walid is all that. Seriously flawless work and helpful advice for the care of my blazer’s fabric that I don’t think anyone else would have thought to share with me. He took the time to show me how to reverse stubborn fabric memory to help my garment hang better than I ever expected. He’s my go-​to now.

Bought a suit online from one of my favorite vendors. Knew I needed to get it tailored locally, but didn’t know where to go. Asked some friends and Myers Park Tailors was recommended over and over.
Walid nailed the exact fit I was looking for at a lower price then I expected to pay. Great work and customer service. I’ll be back.

Two weeks before being in a wedding, and I remember that I still need to get my dress altered, and my boyfriend needs his suit jacket taken in. I found Walid on Unilocal,and he more than lived up to the 5 star rating.
We walked in about 30 minutes before they close, and by the time I put on my dress, he had Geoff’s jacket perfectly pinned– waist taken in and sleeves shortened. Geoff asked about getting the jacket taken in a bit through the shoulders, and Walid said that the cost would be about $ 200 for that, and not necessary– major points. Tailors, to me, are like mechanics– I’ll pay a little extra for one who doesn’t just try to take your money.
My dress was a little more tricky, as it needed to be taken in through the bust and the neckline didn’t allow Walid to do this the easy way. However, it took him all of five minutes to pin the side seams and have it fitting beautifully.
A week and a half later (and a day earily than he told us) we got a text saying that the clothes were ready. Coming from someone who’s worked in plenty of high end retail stores and knows how to sew, his work was flawless. Everything fit perfectly, and I doubt if anyone would be able to tell that they had been altered (except for how well they fit). It only cost us $ 80 total since they offer $ 20 off $ 100 for new customers, which I considered extremely reasonable for the quality of work. This will definitely be my go to place for any future alterations!

I have never had an alteration done before, so it figures that I would choose the day before a wedding to go shopping for the perfect dress, and THEN decide to get it hemmed. I called 3 alteration shops before this one, and they all laughed at me. Literally.
When I called Myers Park Tailors, Walid (I guess? I hate that I didn’t get his name) calmly asked me what I needed done, and told me that he couldn’t promise anything, but that if I could get it there in 30 minutes he could take a look. I rushed in 10 minutes past his 30 minute deadline, but he took it in stride with a good sense of humor to boot, pinned up my dress, and had it ready for me in LESS THAN 24 HOURS.
Like I said, I’ve never had anything hemmed before, but as far as I could tell it was flawless. I would recommend Myers Park Tailors to ANYONE now, if only for his kindness and honesty. Luckily, the work is also really good. ;-)

After a visit to another tailor had me fearing for the fate of my gala gown, Walid restored my faith in humanity.
Ok, that might be a bit dramatic, but you don’t mess with a girl’s fancy dress. Or at least don’t shake her confidence in your ability to alter without issue.
Thankfully, Walid was simply amazing and lived up to the reputation that preceded him: Professional, polished and honest.
My dress was altered beautifully (I won’t have to wear a bra, and I am not lacking in the chest department).
The service and workmanship at Myers Park Tailors is a wonderful example of getting what you pay for: perfection.

Great tailoring hands down. I’ve had jeans taken in, dresses altered and hems taken up — all perfectly done. I will say, though, that you get what you pay for, i.e. it’s not affordable tailoring. A pair of jeans cost $ 20 to be taken in, and $ 20 for hemmed pants or dress. While I personally think it’s worth it for expert tailoring, others may think it’s a bit overpriced for some of the basic tailoring.
Also, the staff are all very nice and will give very helpful tailoring advice when asked. You can trust your nicest pieces here — they are in good hands!
