History

Established in 1996.

Dr. Goins has been in private practice in the Carolinas since 1996 when he founded Mid-​Carolina Surgery Center.

Dr. Goins obtained his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. in 1979. He completed his transitional medicine internship at the U.S. PHS hospital in Staten Island, NY and was a commissioned officer at the United States Public Health Service for two years.

He completed a Family Practice Residency in 1983 and a General Surgery Residency in 1988 at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. There he received the outstanding residency award and scored in the 99^th percentile in his in-​training surgery exam.

Dr. Goins completed a Fellowship in trauma/​surgical critical care at the R. Adams Cowley/​University of Maryland Shock/​Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD in 1989.

He served as Chief of Trauma-​Surgical Critical Care and Chief of the Howard University Surgical Service as the District of Columbia General Hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. Go
