BEWARE… Do Not do anything with this company, We have had way too many calls. Some of the calls are not real lenders… That is correct, they call and make up things to get you to release info. So their system is hacked. I had to place a fraud alert on myself and wife to make sure we will survive this. We went with a credit union and glad we did as we have a brick and mortar to go to. 1 month and the calls keep coming. I have 27 numbers blocked and it still will not stop

! While they put you in contact with 5 lenders, the cost of that is horrible. Why?
1. Phone calls at all hours from lenders AND marketing firms that deal with construction, plumbing, inspections, etc. LendingTree sells your info to not just mortgage brokers (this is the type of loan I applied for) but also a host of other companies.
2. Spam Emails. I am still getting emails after two months of clicking unsubscribe. It is horrible because these emails pass through the spam filter. They have your name, address, and phone number so even Gmail can’t filter them out.
3. Text Messages. I am still getting random text messages from random companies. It is horrible.
My suggestions: just google the banks in your area, google the national banks, and apply yourself at all these places. LendingTree basically just sends you the name of the banks and you have to fill out the forms, etc. the same as if you did the easy google search.

Lending Tree is just a means of sending your loan info to a large number of BROKERS or loan RESELLERS. As soon as you click the last button your phone will start ringing with robo-​calls. Extremely annoying. It might be ok if most of the calls were direct lenders where you will get the best rate but that is not the case. Plus they all want to TALK to you «grab a paper and pen», what? its 2016 just email me what you want and most of them didn’t even know any detail of what I was looking for. Horrid experience. (not I’m off to find out if I can purge my account from them).

I just wanted to check the current interest rates with various lending companies. I entered my information but refused to enter my SSN. Why does this company need my SSN to give me general information about current interest rates and offers?

If you yearn for 6:30AM marketing calls, this is your company.
The user experience is highly misleading. You fill out their web form expecting online quotes. Instead, it’s a front for a 90s user experience: all your info is immediately shipped to several lending companies with marketers at the ready. The calls literally began 60 seconds after I hit Submit. You are then besieged with calls — till 9pm at night, 6:30AM, and 5 between 8AM and 8:30AM, continuing throughout the day. No quote info at all provided online.
I called Lending Tree to complain to a manager, he said he would «Immediately» take down my info and notify the downstream companies. Didn’t happen.
AVOID!

TERRIBLE. You think by going online you can get a quick run down of banks and their rates, but NOOOOOOO, you get spam, calls, partial information, this company should be shut down.

My wife is in the market for a new car. Our credit union gave us a pretty good rate on a new car loan, but I, thinking it the prudent thing, decided to shop around.

We entered the year, make, model, and trim of the car we are looking to buy, a 2016 Honda CR-​V, EX-​L. I though, this must be even better — we’ll get rates on the specific vehicle!
Nope… no — LendingTree returned with offers from BMW, Jeep, and Carmax — NOT A SINGLE HONDA DEALERSHIP… On top of that — I now seem to be spammed with used car dealers — not even financial institutions.
Not only did LeandingTree not return a rate that was competitive — it has now subjected me to spam from used car dealers — all that when I specifically entered the car information we were looking for!
My advise, just check your bank and a few other banks directly.

Don’t be fooled by Lending Tree, which is one of the first links that you find on search engines when you want to compare lending rates. The rate provided by their «lenders» were all much higher than the rates quoted by major banks in my area. If you want a high rate mortgage that will cost you thousands of $$ more over the life of your loan then this is the place to visit. But otherwise it’s a complete waste of time for those looking to refinance jumbo loans in California. And NEVER give them your real birthday, SSN or any other personal information as you have no idea where that info will end up or how it is protected.

That sucked. When I signed up to get Lending Tree, they asked for my phone number. I kid you not, when I hit «submit,» my phone was ringing BEFORE I got any results on my screen. My screen was literally loading when my first call came through. And two more calls started ringing before the first one was done ringing. And my phone hasn’t stopped ringing all day long. I was looking for INFORMATION. I didn’t want to be bombarded with phone calls. Worst of all, when I ignored their calls, they would call me again… sometimes just 10 minutes later! It was ridiculous.

I’m having a horrible experience with this company. I should have read all the reviews here on Unilocal,as well as on Credit Karma and Consumer Affairs.
Expect lots of spam and your information being shared EVERYWHERE. I’m glad my phone can block calls (and email client with emails), but it’s not enough– spammy lenders just call from different extensions.
I plan on pursuing a more aggressive route if this doesn’t stop. I’m very angry.

Yep — I wish I’d checked Unilocal too. All this does is invite a persistent deluge of marketing phone calls.

I have the same complaint as everyone else. This is bordering on harassment now.

I just wanted to check the current interest rates with various lending companies. I entered my information and within 30 seconds my phone started ringing off the hook. I’m talking one call after another, less than one-​minute apart. This went on for almost 3 hours! The frequency died down, but it continued all day. It’s now the next morning, and starting at 8am, my phone has rang at least once every 5 minutes for the past hour. I received a ton of emails as well, but at least those are easy to delete and ignore.
Lesson Learned — PUT A FAKE NUMBER or just flat out skip this service. Yikes.

So I’m looking to refinance my house. Multiple quotes from multiple lenders… seems awesome in theory. I fill out like 47 pages of personal information. My last home closing required less. After a marathon of unnecessary details I manage to submit my request to multiple lenders.
Not 30 seconds later que the deluge of phone calls and emails.

What, I just answered this shit. All of it.
Use lending tree if you enjoy being harassed by unsolicited email and phone calls from lenders with subpar rates who are too lazy to copy and paste the supplied information into their software. If you’re looking for an actual loan, look elsewhere.

Probably should have checked Unilocal before sending them my info. They requested my phone number for «verification» purposes, and said they are very concerned about customer privacy.
Which means I’ve gotten 7 phone calls the next morning, between 7 AM and 10 AM. 7 AM? Are you people insane? I’ve blocked five separate numbers so far, which you can find out are Lending Tree spam by searching the number, NOT otherwise listed as a Lending Tree number, and they don’t leave messages.
In the end, this is just like everything else. You aren’t getting multiple rates, you are getting your information sold to other mortgage companies. Prepare for a blitz of emails and phone calls after requesting an online quote.
I refuse to use any mortgage company associated with Lending Tree.

And, based on the following phone calls, that personal information did get passed onward…
The young fellow from LendingTree called, was RUDE, and hung up on me.
They won’t give the actual facts, details, rates, information.
Credit is perfect. Should NOT have been any problem.
Just wanted the lowest available rate… A total nightmare!
After numerous questions… the next company finally stated that
a) the rates are HIGHER than advertised… which is ILLEGAL.
b) then, there are FEES…
1: There is a $ 2,500.00 just for giving you a loan.
2: There is a house appraisal fee and he GUESSES 400 – 500.00…
A GUESS???
So, I was STUPID and foolishly gave ALL the details, birth date, social security, address…
to SHADY companies…
Letting everyone know to beware of this financial shopping online…

Not sure how to give no stars. I believe they are associated with Sebonic and Cardinal financial companies who are highly rated on their web site. These are classic bait and switch companies, offering one rate but not delivering (please see other Unilocal reviews). I guess that in their case advertising is the key reason people still use them.

I should have known better, but I shared my personal information with Lending Tree and have been harassed non-​stop ever since. I used them years ago and was able to view quotes online at the time. Now, most of the lenders won’t offer a quote unless they can talk to you directly. Never again.

Lending Tree shared my personal info with dubious companies without my consent, leading to harassing Phone Calls.
Background: I clicked on an advertisement on the yahoo mail app on my phone. It was about loans offers and I was curious. The link led me to a form where I filled in some information. I was just browsing for rates and had no intention of actually applying for anything. I did not even complete the process because I was asked to provide my SSN and I did not wish to provide it. So I just closed that screen.
In a few minutes, I started getting multiple calls and emails. I had to tell each of them that I was not interested. Some of them were downright rude and kept pestering me even though I told them I am not interested.
I never consented to allow Lending Tree to share my information with anyone. But they went ahead and shared it. It appears they will keep sharing the information to other parties. This leads to harassing phone calls from multiple organizations. There is no way to stop the sharing in the Lending Tree website.
followed what others suggested on the internet and changed all my personal information on the Lending Tree website. But my contact information would have been shared with a bunch of lenders already. So I expect to be getting more calls.
I submitted this complaint to the BBB and I am waiting to hear back.
At any cost, DO NOT provide your personal information or your SSN to this organization.

Never and I say NEVER input your real social security # and phone #‘s unless you want to be harassed for the rest of your life. The kicker is there’s no way to close your account or stop being harassed, even after you click «unsubscribe».

Stay away from these people. They are a scam. In advertizing they claim they will obtain competing offers for mortgage loans. However, the scam is that they want to place the loan themselves. They have their own sale people contact you and try to sell you on their loan at rip off fees and obscure rules. You need to steer clear of this type of scam especially in this real estate environment.
